Imagine you're falling; flipping over and over through the sky - not in a dream, but in startling reality. A loud bang then nothing... nothing but the wind rushing past you and the sound of your own terrified screaming. You pray, desperately pray for salvation - death, madness, or a miracle in that welcoming bed of clouds. Scream and pray - you have nothing else. (Approx. 2,800 words)
As well as writing books, I love to read, and I will happily read and review ARCs and published books from authors, publishers and publicists - I will read ALL GENRES, FICTION AND NON-FICTION. Unlike many summary reviews you find on Goodreads, my reviews are bloggy and detailed; I write hundreds of words.
My reviews are posted here on Goodreads, at Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest and at my own popular blog:
Reviews can be added to Amazon in Author Central, as Editorial Reviews. I also offer beta-reading, synopsis-writing, proofreading and copy-editing services, all of which can also be found at my website.
I didn't read the blurb before picking this short story up on my kindle. But it became very clear that something unusual was going on. This poor guy is definitely falling, and thinking a million thoughts a second, revisiting regrets, loves and was in complete agony over what was coming. The entire time, I was thinking... this must be a hell of a nasty dream, and this guy is going to wake up! But the reality was very different. Once I realized what was really happening, the story impacted me on a much more emotional level. I do confess my eyes watered reading this one. Well written, riveting, and incredibly heart breaking!
This very short story can be read in one breath, as one long sentence/ enumeration of spinning emotions and thoughts within the main character. Hold on tight and hold your breath at the same time, as you don't know which way this story/travel goes. You don't have to think too much, but just live and undergo it, I suggest. I would give this (as a) story 3,5 stars, and perhaps repeat a little less and polish now/here and then. But this really should become a 4,5 stars in case of a monologue (what I see in it), for I find this ideal in the setting of a theater, as an audio story, as a presentation/play on stage/youtube, or better: a short movie, where you are able to underscore and visualize that feeling of tumbling and inside panic even more.
Short and quite clever, grabs your attention and slowly reveals what is happening and the horror of the situation. The end lets it down a bit for me. worth a read.
