So I Know it's Real

Rate this book
“They won’t get you like I will

My only wish is I die real

Cause that truth hurts, and those lies heal” — Drake

Jeremiah 29:11 became a daily affirmation for Clover Carson when she buried the love of her life and became a single mother. While most women in their twenties are stacking cash, traveling, or relishing in their ho phase, the overworked mama spends her days at school and her nights in PTA meetings. Aside from never-ending obligations, the curvy lady has found a safe space among her social media following and agrees to a night out that doesn't include overthinking. What starts off as a night of celebration turns into a rescue mission that may test Clover’s faith and her self-control.

Destin “Durk” Sharp swears by the words “Fool me twice, and I’ll take your life.” Habitual heartbreak curated his mindset and turned him into a man you never take home to meet your parents. Although Durk has transitioned from shooter to tattoo shop owner, the daredevil can’t let go of his vices. Being one of the youngest members of The Sons of Eshu, his feral behavior is often viewed as juvenile. As an attempt to prove he’s as grown as his large stature, Durk accepts a bet without thinking of how much it may cost him.

Two people walk into a karaoke bar. Little do they know, the fraudulent people in their past connect them, and only real love can save them.

Durk gets Lucky

This book had me invested, but then it ended abruptly. Yes, I felt for Durk's situation at the beginning and didn't expect that it would be tied to Clover in any way. Do I agree with him not telling her, yes because that ninja wasn't thinking about her or his boys when he cheated on her, had a child, all after she held him down. Did I think the bet was childish... yes because it was unnecessary, but I get they were trying to make him grow up. I do think Clover did a little too much about it because it was clear as day that he actually cared for her. It wasn't as if he needed the money and she knew that. This man was doing everything for this woman and her boys. While I enjoy a little mess, Durk and Clover spent too much time apart than building behind something that was just an unfortunate choice in my opinion.

Durk, the young hothead of the family, thought life was fun and games until heartbreak humbled him. Now its f love, and his jokes and immaturity levels have increased tenfold. 🥲 Trying to get him to man up and grow up, his cousins bet him that he can't stay loyal to one woman. Well.....

Clover, a single mom, carrying the weight of the world taking care of her boys, and working multiple jobs, needs a reprieve. On a night out with the girls she meets Durk, and her world changes in an instant. Although she recognizes his immaturity, and that he has ties to the streets, she is attracted to him in every way. She tries to fight her feelings, but he wears her down quickly.

I loved seeing Durk slow down and make time for Clover. He was doing things he never thought he would without thought, as his feelings for her were growing exponentially. Then his secrets began to tumble from the closet, almost wrecking it all. Sir, why did you hold on to all that information knowing the haters were itching to tell her? 😤🤬 That ending..... I knew that they were somehow connected, but that was a bit too close to home. Then Durk is still holding his damn tongue!!! Ughhh..... 🤯 I enjoyed this read. 👍🏾👍🏾

Honesty Is Real

I’m going to jump right in. This book was fast and didn’t take long to read. Will you get mad at Durk and Clover yes,but you will be cheering for them as well. Yes! I love the plus size female character and her confidence because a plus size girl can influence you too! 😉

⛔️Answering questions author posted don’t read unless you want spoilers :
1. Did you grow up in the church? If so, was it messy like Three Oaks?
-Yes, my grandmother and grandfather were part of the church auxiliaries and my mother too at one point. And yes they are just as messy.

2. Do you think Shiloh was wrong for initiating the bet?
-No, Durk was wrong for accepting it. He preached not providing anything to anyone, but took the bet anyway.

3.How did you feel about Clover having sex with Durk so soon after meeting?
-They grown and that was a bigger step for Clover than it was for Durk.

4. Was Durk wrong for choosing to keep the truth about Calvin (Cowboy) and Kehlani away from Clover?
- Now Miss Ma’am this has me messed up because on one hand KK played in his face and that man played in Clover face after she held him down so karma is a b*.
However, it also makes sense why ‘Calvin’ crew was on his a$$. So, I don’t know because the way Clover acted over church lady and the bet I get it.

Cloverrrrr my girl!!! I loved her this whole book! From her sons to the way she was a mother and took care of her kids was everything. I love how she still spent free time with her kids and she never hid anything from them, well as long as it was age appropriate.

Durk was a good dude that messed up. But he never wanted to take accountability. But when he matured and finally realized when he was wrong, he grew in my eyes. I actually liked them together a lot.

Is it real?

Durk and Clover’s chemistry was instantaneous, and I truly enjoyed seeing them come together, but what I really loved was that Clover stood on business when it came to Durk. She forced him to come correct, and when he messed up, she didn't let it go. She made him grow up if he wanted to be with her.

Buttah + Lucky

This story put me through it, but I couldn't put it down. Destin was extremely childish and did too much. I wouldn't call him a liar, but he is very good about withholding the truth.
Tatum was probably my favorite character. He was funny. I love the kids!
Clover, bless her.
Did i miss something about Mercy & Destin's mother?

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I don't think I've ever laughed out loud of the book before but this one had me cracking up.

The church scene was top-tier! I was glad that the MMC was able to experience happiness after experiencing such betrayal.

So I know it’s real

I enjoyed Durk and Clover’s story. I liked their vibe and chemistry and the way he was able to open his heart back up to her. It was crazy getting their initial connection at the end of the book, but I also understand why Durk wants to keep that a secret because nothing good can come from that coming out. This twins had me laughing and so did Mama Jo. I’m looking forward to what comes next from the Sons of Eshu series.

Buttah makes it better

“They won’t get you like I will
My only wish is I die real
Cause that truth hurts, and those lies heal.” — Drake
So I Know It’s Real is a beautifully layered, emotionally charged romance that perfectly captures the weight of loss, the journey of healing, and the power of real love. It’s a story of two souls shaped by their pasts, drawn together by fate, and challenged by the truth.
Clover Carson is a young, overworked single mother who has buried love once and isn’t eager to take another chance. Between school, PTA meetings, and raising her adorable, wise-beyond-their-years children, Tatum and Pearce, she barely has time for herself—let alone love. Her safe space is social media, where she can be herself without the weight of her everyday responsibilities. But one night out changes everything.
Enter Destin “Durk” Sharp, a former shooter turned tattoo shop owner, whose past has hardened him into a man who trusts no one. He lives by a ruthless code: fool me once, shame on you—fool me twice, and you may not live to regret it. Though he’s working on turning over a new leaf, old habits die hard, and a reckless bet places him on a collision course with Clover.
From the moment they meet, the chemistry is undeniable. What starts as a random encounter in a karaoke bar spirals into something much deeper. Their pasts connect in unexpected ways, and their love is tested by truths that can’t be ignored.
Durk quickly became my favorite character. His growth was incredible, from a hardened, emotionally closed-off man to someone who accepted Clover and her children with open arms. His bond with Tatum and Pearce was heartwarming and added a refreshing layer to the story. Clover, on the other hand, was a powerhouse—strong, resilient, and determined to protect her heart and her family. She’s the kind of FMC I love: smart, independent, and real.
The epilogue had me shook—because seriously, what are the odds? And while I was torn on Durk not telling Lucky who Kehlani was, I understood his reasoning. Some truths come with consequences you’re not ready to face.
Overall, So I Know It’s Real was a fantastic read—funny, emotional, and deeply satisfying. Tatum and Pearce stole the show with their cuteness, and Durk? Hands down, my favorite Son of Eshu.
5/5 ⭐️—a must-read for fans of deeply emotional, character-driven romance.

Clover being a single mother taking care of her twins and being the best mother she can be decides to take the night off and kick it back with her gorlsss. On this night off she cross paths with a man who can’t take his eyes off her. This man is know as Durk who was heartbroken by his last love and wasn’t looking to fix till he saw Clover. The twin sons that Clover has are very protective of their mama so they ain’t gonna let Durk in easily. Now the drama in the book is good. To start Durk should have told her about the bet before they starting falling for each just to soften the blow on things. But we learn are lessons from doing stupid things like this. The secret that Durk kept from Clover I believe was the right decision. Clovers husband didn’t care about her because if he did he wouldn’t have cheated and had a baby with another woman. Clover loved her man and didn’t know the bad side to him so if Durk did tell her she would have told them she lying and that would be that. But overall a really good book!!!

I came across this author while preparing for an upcoming book event and I was not disappointed. When I say this book was so good it was so worth the late night binge reading. This book was layered but it was done so beautifully that I was hooked. It touched on the loss of a loved one and raising children in their absence, healing and love but the real kind. Clover girllllllll you had me stressed for you because whewwww let that man love you.
Durk aka Buttah was everything and some more. That man had trauma and I understood it. The chemistry was undeniable and absolutely amazing. Karaoke nights and sweet words became something beautiful. Do I believe Lucky needed the full truth at the end? Absolutely not lol, she withheld a few things and so did he. The consequences of admitting it wasn’t worth their future. Tatum and Pearce were so funny and down for their mom no matter what.
⛔️SPOILERS: Answering questions author posted:
1. Did you grow up in the church? If so, was it messy like Three Oaks?
-No, I was the rebellious one lol but the rest of us were raised in the church.
2. Do you think Shiloh was wrong for initiating the bet?
-No, I think they just wanted to see love on Durk vs bitterness.
3.How did you feel about Clover having sex with Durk so soon after meeting?
-Babyyyyy they are grown. Go ahead and see if it’s worth your time.
4. Was Durk wrong for choosing to keep the truth about Calvin (Cowboy) and Kehlani away from Clover?
- Nope. When it all happened he had no idea about Clover or those boys. It was a it’s either you or me moment; and every time I’m going to choose me. Cowboy was cheating and making babies while she held him down blindly. Some secrets are best kept hidden.

Love Durk and Clover

STOP LYING!!!! is what I wanted to yell at Durk. Durk was very immature from the start and took a bet to show he wasn't. As luck would have it, he's introduced to Clover. She's a single mother who is hard working and about her business.  She's suffered a tragic loss; this coupled with being a teen mom forced her to grow up fast.

The fell fast and hard. Durk had secrets that he just couldn't come clean with; causing tension in the relationship.  Although Durk loved Clover and her children, he just couldn't be honest about things from his past.

This was a good read, you could tell Durk wanted to do right, he just couldn't. The wins were the comedic relief of the book.

Hmmmm…. I need more….

I’m conflicted because this book was absolutely amazing, however I need more. I love that we were able to see Durk grow. I appreciate that we were able to see his past so that we could understand the way he moved. I feel like Lucky really gave Durk a super hard time about that church mess & the bet, but I guess some conflict had to happen for the plot, but I feel like that really wasn’t that deep. She spent all that time heartbroken & mad when she could’ve been wrapped around that man. Odd. The endingggg?!?! How does it just end THERE!!!! I need more of this couple & family!!!!

So I Know It's Real

Destin aka Durk was good on love after being hurt and blindsided by Kehleiani. Turns out the baby wasn't his but her ex. Durk became a love them and leave them guy. Clover was a single mother raising two boys after her son's father was killed. Can you say small world? Calvin also known as Cowboy was Clover and Kehleiani's ex. Yeah that happened...lol.

Fast forward, Durk meets Clover and they both heal and learn to love again. The Sons of Eshu are a cool cast of characters. They play hard and love even harder.

Great series that's not a series.

Skeletons…

Oh my goodness Destin, REALLY🥴🤦🏾‍♀️⁉️… Dyslexia ain’t his only issue. …Ummm, Integrity🤷🏾‍♀️‼️ This ninja’s either a habitual, compulsive or pathological liar. Pick a poison & seek help🤬‼️The question (s) aren’t complicated, Destin functions on semantics, deflection & I just can’t locate the truth to save my life EVER 🙄‼️Meanwhile, “So I know It’s Real” was a good read. Unfortunately, Destin was/is disingenuous. Meanwhile, Author set this storyline for a potential book two because they’re skeletons still in the closet…& the cemetery 🥴😬‼️Poor Clover 🍀😕‼️

another great SOE installment

Loved watching Durk and Clover’s story unfold and his evolution was a thing to behold LOL I fell out with the Barbara church reveal PETTY Level 10000 LOL!! One thing I wish had gotten a closed loop was the niece - she’d got REAL close to the edge and then seemingly disappeared (one sentence confirming whether she’d been scared straight or not would’ve been sufficient).

so good. i wanted more!

This was a good quick read. I definitely wanted more. There were some areas of the story that were vague or glossed over that I wished we got to dig deeper into. But it was a good story, very entertaining. And though short, there was some good character development. The ending!!! I kept feeling like that was coming but was still surprised. This made me want to read the other S.O.E books.

Loved It

I enjoyed Durk and Clover. Some church folks can be hypocrites for sure, especially someone like Barbara. I really enjoyed how Durk and Clover connected. It was organic, and her twins were funny. They didn't play about their mama. I loved the ending, and I agree with Durk not speaking on Calvin or Cowboy. Whatever his name was, it would be just one more thing to cause a strain in their relationship

This was a good read. Clover got on my nerves a lil bit but I still liked the character. Durk was crazy, I loved how he was all about Clover. The bet was absolutely wrong and he could’ve called it off even his cousins saw how he wqs with her they knew it was wrong to keep it going as well.

I don’t think Durk was wrong for not telling Clover about his connection to her and Calvin. She already did the most when she found out about the other stuff lol I mean she wasn’t wrong but still 🤷🏽‍♀️

Clover and Dookie Durk were so cutteeee! Clover twins were the real stars of this book because they didn’t play when it came to their mom. Durk grew up so much from what I read in the other books and I love a good character development. The secret at the end and Kehlani connecting to Clover was mind blowing. I can’t wait to read Ishmeal book. Great read with very little errors

See what happen when you got ill intentions, not knowing what’s right around the corner for you?! Smh
Aside from that, they were the cutest! 🥰 Tatum was bad as heck lol. He didn’t play about his mama though. That ending 🤯. I knew he had something to do with it, I just didn’t think it would connect like that. This was such a good read though. Ish got next?!

Oooo weeeee the way I ran through this book with no breaks 😆 Tucora Monique girrrrrl you left no crumbs. With each Sons of Eshu book the series gets better and better! Church was always in the top spot and I knew Durk would be my young thang and I was not wrong😝 I loved everything about Durk flaws and all but what I loved most was Clover’s presence in his life because Sis got him all the way together and the jokester had to get right or get left!

From the first page, my blood pressure was rising and I had a few characters I needed to speak with but as the story went on I let them slide because there were bigger issues at play. However…. The ending! Tucora your devious mind didn't have to do us like that. Anyway, this book was written so well, the storyline was excellent, getting to meet back up with the crew is always fun, and although I loved Clover and her family… Tatum and Pierce were the true stars. They were pure comedy… that “Dookie Durk” sent me every time! 🤣

I’m not sure if Loso or Ishmael is up next but I know their stories will only make the series better. There were some hints dropped surrounding Ishmael so I would love to see how that plays out and also get to know Loso more. Tucora Monique, you deserve all your flowers for this masterpiece!🥰

Buttah and Lucky

I enjoyed Durk and Clover. They were what each other needed to overcome some serious trauma. Durk seamlessly integrated himself into Clover and her family’s lives. The banter with the twins and even Barbara’s shiesty behind was hilarious. It was good catching up with the Sons of Esau.

This Story Was Simply Fire!

All I can say is, you have to read this book! I don't want to give anything away, but the ending totally surprised me!

Durk if I had to sum his story up on one word...redemption!

The church's role in this story was presented as the hospital it should be. Everyone in the church is struggling with something!

More, please ♥️♥️

I enjoy Clover and Durk's love story. They're separate stories, and I like their meeting and the beginning of their story. I also like the twist in their love story; I didn't see that coming at all. I enjoyed *The Sons of Eshu*. I'm hoping there will be more from them. I feel there are several stories there. As always, it's my pleasure reading your books. 🥰
