To say that I love this series would be an understatement of the highest magnitude. I love the fact that this is the author's heart, soul, and personal experiences of life on a page. I know that this where writers get their stories from, but you can almost 'sense' it in this series a bit more than the others, I think. Perhaps that's just my personal impression, but I'm standing by it.

The storyline held my attention all the way through, and I am interested in, and have grown to care for, Nick and the other characters. It's an entertaining, action-packed, funny, emotive, and educational read, and the back of the book stuff is hilariously eye-opening.

Saying that Nick goes through trials and tribulations is like saying that there were a few drops of rain when Noah invited the animals on his ark. The author writes very well and imaginatively, and it's easy to follow the friends' Paths as they continue forward. Their journey is never straightforward, just like life itself. It's full of people's interpretations of what being handed power looks like and feels like, mostly to others. However, the powerful rarely think about anyone else than themselves. That's a sweepingly general statement, but there's truth in there. There are some cracking surprises between these pages, of which I am telling you nothing. You should read and experience it for yourselves.

This is an outstanding piece of work, in my humble opinion, that's a wee bit 'off the track' from the author's usual books, and I love that it is based on Mr Cooper's own understanding and lore evidence.

A prophesiesed return

This book series was not as funny as some of Harmon Cooper's books, but it was still compelling. I loved that Nick was able to reconnect with some of his friends and found out that they all have certain powers. I enjoyed the back of the book, which gave insight into his writing process for this book and others.

Harmon Cooper is THE MAN!

This has been arguably the best litRPG I've read yet!
Maybe even better than Carl!

But don't take MY word for it (and for sure, don't listen to the damned BIRD), check. It out for yourself!

I promise you won't be disappointed!

Way of the Immortals 3&4

Nick and his companions are searching for Hugo and the reincarnation of the exalted one. This was before pirates, sea dragons, and demons separate the party and force them to make many desperate choices.

This western cultivation series is heavy on the action. The story moves along quickly and the romance subplot is really well developed. I did include book 4 in this review since it was significantly shorter than books 1-3. I am not sure if there was another series that follows this one, since it feels that there was some things left unresolved. This is part of the Way of the Immortals omnibus set. Neil Hellegers does a great job with the narration!

Dark and dreary

I only got 10% before I quit. I am sure some people will find this a good read, but not me. At the beginning, I couldn't figure out who was talking. By the time the plot started, I didn't care who was talking. The actions of the MC made him out to be an idiot and the plot was just going to be stupid choice after stupid choice. That is where I had to stop. All I could see going forward was the liberal use of plot armor and dues ex to move the plot along. I may be wrong about, my assumptions, but I just don't have the will to find out.
