A traitorous map, two brothers on opposing sides of the Revolutionary War, and a murder in present day tantalize readers of the final book in the Ohnita Harbor Mystery series. Patricia Crisafulli infuses her cozy mysteries with stirring Upstate New York history, complex characters, and intriguing plots.

Atmospheric and intriguing. A dual-timeline story connecting a present day murder with a historical secret from the American Revolution, and a brilliant FMC amateur sleuth with an unwavering dedication to uncovering the truth.

The book opens with a historical prologue, dating back to the American Revolution, then moves into a modern-day story about an artifact called The Traitor's Map, which may be a fake spy map created by an amateur in the 18th century to fool the British army. FMC Gabriela is a librarian and an authenticator of historic documents. Gabriela shows a map to college students, but then one of them is found murdered by the lakeshore. This event leads to a series of deaths and danger threatening Gabriela and the man she loves.

The setting of Ohnita Harbor, a small town in New York, is portrayed as a quiet and charming place until a dark discovery changes everything. A body is found on the lakeshore near the Old Post Cemetery, shocking the community. The vivid imagery brings the setting to life, and it was easy to envision the town and almost feel the early spring chill in the air.

The story is both plot and character-driven, and we get some of Gabriela's family dynamics. Gabriela is likable and relatable, and I love that she's a librarian. She is also balancing work and life with her son, boyfriend, and mother, with whom she has a loving but trying dynamic at times. Gabriela's intelligence and determination make her a compelling sleuth.

The high stakes mystery is suspenseful, well-plotted, and it kept me guessing. Its clear that the author did extensive research for the book. It was fascinating to learn about Traitor's Maps and how the author integrated them into the story. This was a smart, entertaining mystery that works well as a standalone!

Oh I’m sorry this is the end of the trilogy- we need a tetralogy! I enjoyed this fictionalization of Oswego which takes some real events and places and combines it with realistic characters and mystery. It stands alone but you will want to read all three stories about Gabriela Domenici and Ohnita Harbor.

Hooked by the history and stayed for the mystery! The Secrets of the Old Post Cemetery is my favorite book in the Ohnita Harbor Mystery series. Familiar, beloved characters return in the creative, well-written page turner, which builds toward a triple-twist, “I didn’t see that coming!” ending. Kudos to prolific author Tricia Crisafulli for another captivating read.

Tricia Crisafulli weaves together colonial history with a compelling mystery that perfectly encapsulates upstate New York. Well written with plenty of twists to keep you guessing. The history sells it for me, with the best artifact in the series.

This end to the trilogy was captivating and fast-paced! The included history was thoughtful and added depth to what we already know about Ohnita Harbor. As always - well written, intriguing characters, and a fun story!
