McCulloch of Ohio: For the Republic

Rate this book
Available July 2, 2014. A story of civic valor - the willingness to place nation ahead of self and justice ahead of expediency. William Moore McCulloch played a pivotal role in the passage of the major civil rights legislation of the 1960s. The larger story is not what he did, but why, and how. He fought for justice and equality because it was in his nature to do so. The purpose of the fight, he said, was not to achieve victory, but to create the reconciliation that civil society requires.

I currently work for the State Representative who represents the same district as McCullough (or at least parts of it). He handed me the book and suggested I read it. I was very enlightened to learn about the life of Mr. McCullough. From his early upbringing to his influential presence in Congress was all fascinating. Last year, outside of the House Chambers in the Ohio Statehouse, a bust was unveiled of McCullough signifying his time as Speaker of the House.

Highly recommend the book!
