Otto Wilhelm von Vacano was a German archaeologist, occupied primarily with history and culture of the Etruscans.

Otto Wilhelm von Vacano studied in Vienna and Cologne, Ancient History, Classical Studies, and Archaeology, and achieved his PhD in 1936 at Hull Andreas in Cologne with a thesis on The Problem of the Old Temple of Zeus at Olympia. In 1944 he laid before the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Graz, the habitation Lelegia: a Stone Age settlement on the Kufówuno at Sparta. From 1961 to 1975 Vacano was curator of the antiquities collection of the Institute of Classical Archaeology of the University of Tübingen. Vacano's specialty was Etruscan archeology. In this area, he was regarded as an international authority.

The first half of the book was a "2." I found the book confusing and learned more from this site: http://www.mysteriousetruscans.com/hi...

From the name of the site, I thought at first it would be an "aliens in Italy" site. ;-)

The second half of the book was clearer though I found his "summary" of the whole history strange--if he had been that concise and clear elsewhere, 1) there wouldn't have been a book, just an article and 2) well, see 1).
