A hopeless romantic with a bit of sarcasm thrown in for good measure, Shanna Hatfield is a best-selling author of clean romantic fiction written with a healthy dose of humor.

In addition to blogging and eating too much chocolate, she is completely smitten with her husband, lovingly known as Captain Cavedweller.

Shanna creates character-driven romances with realistic heroes and heroines. Her historical westerns have been described as “reminiscent of the era captured by Bonanza and The Virginian” while her contemporary works have been called “laugh-out-loud funny, and a little heart-pumping sexy without being explicit in any way.”

She is a member of Western Writers of America, Women Writing the West, and Romance Writers of America.

Farm Girl was absolutely great!!! Shanna Hatfield had me literally Laughing Out Loud with stories from her growing up years on her family’s farm. I could identify with so much of this book for I spent my summers at my grandparents and trust me my cousins and I could get in some predicaments. If ever in need of a feel good, laugh til you hurt book then Farm Girl is your book. So glad I took the time to read this book for it really put a smile on my face!! Thanks Shanna Hatfield for yet another enjoyable read!

Farm Girl: Rural Life Humor from a Farmer's Daughter by Shanna Hatfield is a laugh out loud, fun read. The book is filled with the author’s memories, written in short story form, about growing up on a farm in Oregon as a little girl. Hatfield shares her version of her adventures and puts a humorous spin on them that makes the reader wish that they too grew up on a farm.

Hatfield’s unique, detailed descriptions of her adventures is what makes Farm Girl come alive. An example of Hatfield’s funny take on situations is this line from when her sister got attacked by a bat in the story Glamping.

“Dad ordered as he waved his stick at the bat still trying to turn Tallulah into a vampire.”

My personal favorite story in Farm Girl was Things That Slither. The story being about snakes and how Hatfield and her family deal with them. I personally hate snakes but love to know how people deal with them, especially when they sneak into one’s own home. This story alone has made Hatfield a hero in my eyes. I will also forever be checking my surroundings whenever I visit a farm, just to make sure there are no snakes in the room.

Farm Girl is a fun read and Hatfield’s love for her father is very obvious. I recommend this book to anyone who has ever grown up on a farm or loves short stories. I would love to read more of Hatfield’s work and see how she takes on the world. I also cannot wait to try the Strawberry Shortcake recipe that is included in the book.

A Delightful Tale

A really neat and delightful tale of life on a family farm from the heart of the little girl who lived it. Ms. Hatfield's droll humour in all the experiences, exasperation and the tightly knit family makes a chuckle a page and tugs at the heart. Real life in a bucolic setting. It deserves a sixth star!

If you need a good laugh this book will do it. It more a funny biography of the author as she was growing up as a farmer’s daughter. I have to admit I am not sure how she survived her life. What she had to do even as a young girl on the farm was amazing. But no matter when, where or how old she was this was a book that had me laughing hysterically. I have to it quietly too as to not wake up my husband but have you tried to laugh hard and not wake anyone up? It is not an easy thing to do.
I loved this fun book that is so different of her other books because he is not a fictional romance but funny, very funny true life written in a very funny way.
I highly recommend this one especially if you need a laugh.

horses and country living

I loved this book. Being bit by the horse bug at three. I know and understand your love for horses. My rib’s ached for a few hours
Laughing at your antics with the skunks and the demon goose. Having lived in the country and having to go to a middle school. I
loved the way you talked about everything. I laughed until tears ran
down my cheeks. Keep on writing, you have a gift for it. Looking
for more of your books to read.

Such a good story about a great author. It was such fun reading about the childhood of one of my favorite authors and to such wit that it had me, literally, laughing out loud on numerous occasions. I was raised as a farm girl too and found many similarities to my childhood. It was a fun reminder for me too. So comical!

Couldn't put it down or stop laughing

Oh Lord ! Everything I love about Shanna Hatfield all in one place. She writes so vividly that you are right there with her family. I want to get behind the wheel of Ford's 1970 green Mustang too.

Farming

Definitely has a way of working out the good and bad of farming, laughter will jump out and you will have to come up for air in some places. Reads like a separate story for each title but decidedly funny in some parts.

Farm Girl

Humorous story of the growing years in a farm. Enjoyed the short stories of family life of Shanna. I can picture her as a cute and determined 3 or 4 yr old little girl on the farm.

Wow!!! This book was the funniest most hilarious book I have ever read in my life. Shanna has the best sense of humor and it simply shines through in her writing. If you’re in need of something uplifting, funny, that will brighten your day I suggest this book. I was in tears laughing so hard it’s truly a book that resonated close to me. And even if you’ve never grew up on a farm, I promise you will be laughing yourself silly, because it truly is so so funny. If you did grow up on a farm, I imagine you’ll find quite a few of the stories hit very close to home.

This book was funny. I might have to read it again when I need a laugh.

Note: Do not attempt to read this while your husband is sound asleep next to you. The third time I laughed out loud my husband told me to hit the couch until I was done. This happen 2 nights in a row.

Some of the author's experiences were eerily identical to mine growing up on an E WA ranch. I have a signed copy and will enjoy sharing this with my kids as they grow.
