Kansas City Heat #2
Peyton’s Pursuit
A home invasion leaves one man dead. Can the KCPD track down the killer before anyone else is murdered?
Detective Nick Peyton lands a homicide case involving stolen property. He finds himself with the tedious task of visiting pawn shops, showing photos of jewellery and other missing items. When he meets store owner Rob Hewlett, Nick suddenly feels like this is the best job he’s ever had.
Nick and Rob share an immediate attraction and act on it without much thought. With his mind on other things, Nick exchanges only the most basic information with the hot stud who has captivated his heart and soul. He soon comes to realise how little they know about each other and that, sometimes, secrets can be deadly.

Quick read. Enjoyable to read. Don't need to think hard to read the book and the series. Recommend.

Reviewed by Brandilyn for Prism Book Alliance There are currently four stories in the Kansas City Heat series, though I suspect there are more coming if the name dropping of gay cops in the precinct is any indication. There is nothing wrong with this series, and I suspect it will be popular with people for a number of reasons. First of all is, of course, the HAWT sex scenes. In each story, the couple falls into bed together pretty readily. They aren't ever in it for more than a night or two, but in each case one night becomes two; two becomes three... Each night they are together is "full" of hot sex after hot encounter after hot encounter. It only takes one night for fucking to become "making love." Secondly, these are quick and easy reads. These aren't angst-fests. They are comfort-reads. Yes, there is a bit of the predictable tension, but they all resolve readily into nice little Happily Ever After bows. This is the second book in the Kansas City Heat series and I did enjoy it. It is a good series and I think many will think so.
I loved Nick and I love the connection that he has with Rob and the element of mystery to the book with the home invasion and looking for stolen goods. I also like the element of one of the main characters having secrets from the other because that puts more of a spin on things when one of the main characters second guesses the other because of not knowing them as well as they should.
What I would have liked to see in this book in the series is that there would have been more of a challenge in the two men getting together because if each book has the main characters falling in love almost instantly then it is going to make the books to predictable to want to read.
Other then that this is another good book to the series and I look forward to seeing how the next book will turn out.

This would have been a 4-Star from me, but I hate the whole "I'm clean" thing. As opposed to what? Dirty? So, if you're positive you're dirty? Choose a different word, perhaps negative? I'm allowed to take off a star for shit I don't like and I REALLY hate the term "clean" in regards to being negative.
I really liked this. Insta-love and all :) I did think too much time passed at the end though.
Next up is dickhead Cameron. We shall see if I like him any better.

Definitely not great literature. I read this to balance out after a long angsty book and it was good for that. Predictable plot for the most part, a little twist at the end. Bad guys were easy to guess but there was some mystery to solve. Sex scenes were mundane and mostly filler, with insta-love as well. I also hate the use of the words "his lover" for a first encounter and calling each other babe and baby.
