Who could resist the dark chocolate, platinum grilled, dread headed country boy? Not many women could, definitely not Victoria. Victoria met Jody, by chance, and was instantly captivated by the smooth, melodic sound that poured from his lips. Major “Jody” White was beyond charming, he was hypnotic. And after winning her love, he whimsically swept Victoria off of her feet and eventually led her to the alter. He made an honest woman out of her, but failed to live honestly himself. When his lies and betrayal surface and begin to shatter his not so perfect image, will the promise of a faithful tomorrow be enough to pull Victoria through the trials of her today? What will happen when the blissful heaven he lullabied her to sleep in is much different than the hell she has now awaken to?
Jody does the most in this story. He gives a new meaning to crazy. I don't know how Victoria puts up with this one. Now I know what they mean about. Sleeping in Heaven Waking in Hell. Loving this story!
This was a pretty okay read to me. It had its interesting parts as i love a book with a crazy character or 2. There were some editing issues and some timing issues that kind of threw me off a little. I will say even with the editing issues, the story was interesting enough that I would not mind continuing on with the series.
This isn't a hood book. So don't go getting your hopes up if this is what you are looking to read. It's not a romance book either. Whew! Thank goodness. Ok, it's set in the southern United States, and I liked that off the bat. The author has great potential, but I would much like to see this book redone with much more punching and fluffing of emotion and background information on the main two characters. I really, really, really want this done to send this book over the top.
The problems other reviewers mentioned as far as details, I picked up on what those reviewers were talking about, but those problems weren't problems for me. I had others. Again, I want to know more about these people. I don't need the daily details. I just want to know what makes them this way. Everyone has a past and the characters deserved to have theirs hashed out for us to connect with them in the best way to relate to them in the way that I believe the author wanted us to. Is it fair to make us hate Jody and we haven't even gotten a chance to see his side of things?
All and all, I did feel that V's and Jody's problems were very relatable. I haven't experienced them particularly, but they are not uncommon in some groups in the south. That is a major plus for the book and is what will keep readers wanting to find out what happens in book two.
"Sleepin' " ends on a cliff, and I think it's worth checking out the second part to see what happens. I feel the author can and probably will go over the edge as she should in that one.
I am new to Forever Redd and her writing style. I liked the storyline a lot.
Victoria is a romantic and wants what most women want. She's in love with the idea of being in love which causes her to fall hard and fast when she thinks she finds 'that guy.' Jody is a lover of women - lots of them. He is also 'that guy.'
Their relationship starts off great like most do. They move fast but why not? Jody is the perfect man, or is he? They both have a lot to work through and deal with. Secrets, lies, moodiness are enough to make a person crazy - but someone is bat-shit crazy already.
The sex scenes sizzle! The descriptions are unique and I can't wait for book 2!
I will start off saying great story. It kept my attention from the very first page. This is definitely a story of mistaken identity. One minute you are one thing and the next minute you are someone else. I hear so many stories about people being bi polar it makes me wonder I'd they struggle mentally the way JODY is struggling. I lived how the author made him out to be such a good man and then the truth comes out. Lol. This story had me yelling at my Kindle as if the characters could really hear me. I definitely will be reading part 2. I need to know what happens to Victoria.
This was a good attempt but the book was missing some things that would have made the story a great story…. The transitions was not clear and concise so that made following the story at time a bit hard. The author had a good storyline and plot but it definitely needed more development… There were grammatical errors in the book that should have been caught. The book had great potential and it shows that all things that glimmer is not gold, and also follow your heart, and the signs we the first are shown to you save yourself the heart ache later…..
I love this book what a way to open and finish ugh where is part two I need it in my life will Jody lose everything his marriage his family because he has bipolar issues will he get help I need to know will Victoria get enough strength to leave Jody how will leon and karlie work out ugh...Jody and Victoria Is the perfect couple if he just take him meds and get help where is part two
This book was a totally different type of book. It wasn't your normal drug dealers, killing or what ever. This book was about true love, but in the end it really wasn't true love. Big wedding and all can't keep a man. He said he loved her but he wasn't showing it. I just want to know who was the company in the room. Is it the secret baby mom's or who?
This is so slow. At the same time it is interesting. I really want to see when Vic is going to get a clue. She read the text and now acts like she is clueless. She is in a position to find out what is going on, but she doesn't. Jody is crazy as a loon. And what is up with Karley? On to Part Two.
I have to words, cause if I say anything I will give the storyline away; but I will say the only reason this book got 3 stars is because my patience can not tolerate stupidity. However I will read book 2 just to see whats next.
I figured he must have been dealing with some type of mental illness. I can't wait to find out what Victoria will do once she finds out about all he's been up to. I'm off to read the rest of the series.
