hammer-wielder, storm-shaker, and fiery haired son of Odin. Explore the revered God of Thunder in this richly illustrated guide to Norse mythology.
This is a culturally informed introduction to Thor, who is revered in Norse Paganism and is a cultural staple of Northern European folklore. With this beautifully illustrated guide as your companion, you will enter the wyrd world of Norse mythology. Thor was popular across all social classes in the Viking Age and is associated with fertility, sacred groves and trees, and the protection of humankind. He is often depicted with his hammer, Mjölnir, which he uses to fight giants and perform stunning feats of strength.
Written by practicing Norse Heathen L. Dean Lee and illustrated by The Saxon Storyteller, this guide covers Thor not only in ancient times, but through the ages, sharing how he became an icon in today’s pop culture.
First off thanks to L Dean Lee and Red Wheeler/Weiser for sending me this copy! If you’re into Norse mythology at all this book is a solid 5/5. It’s easy to read, doesn’t go too deep into things and the artwork really brings everything to life. It’s a great intro to who Thor is and even talks about what it’s like to work with him. Definitely a good addition to my library.
