It was required for a class and I didn't read all of it. If you're buying this for a class, be sure not to buy it until after you go to class, because there is an entirely new version of this book every year, as in by July of 2014 3ds Max 2015 will be out and they'll have improved 30 different items. What can you say, the 3d technology is always innovating, and I'm not complaining. As far as 3ds Max information, I prefer the free and extensive 3ds Max documentation on the autodesk website. It's always to the point and much easier to search through. The only benefit that this book has is the tutorials.

This book can be used as a reference technical book when in need to know something about 3ds max, a lots of information in it, like listing a phone book. I didn't like the cold approach to information from the author, and few tutorials doesn't help you understand certain things.
Not a great book.
