Muriel Horrell was the Research Officer at the South African Institute of Race Relations from 1949 to 1977: she compiled 27 issues of the annual Survey of Race Relations. She also wrote 46 monographs for the Institute, covering such areas as forced removals, the African Reserves/Bantustans and Bantu Education.
