4.5 STARS – Review for books 1, 2 & 3 (Spoiler FREE)

From the first words on the first page, the reader is plunged into Faye’s world, and it is not a pretty sight. Just a girl of nineteen, Faye is homeless, addicted to cocaine and works as a prostitute to support her addiction. From an outside perspective, her life is bleak, but we soon learn that the horrors she escaped at home are greater than the ones she faces on her own.
We are introduced to a guy, but I hesitate to call him a hero. He seems to be much more keen on playing the villain right now. When Rhett finds Faye he has nothing but contempt, disgust and the news of a dead mother to offer Faye. He seems to harbor serious resentment for her and her living/working situation yet he makes no effort to discover the motives behind Faye’s drastic life change.
This installment is very much just the tip of the iceberg, reading closely will reveal small slivers of information about Faye’s life before she ran away. The information we glean is just enough to provide half-answers and tons more questions. The not knowing, and the anticipation of darker truths keep me glued to the pages.
This is my first time doing any art, I would love to hear any thoughts you have about it :)

“I leaned in, letting my chest press harder against his, hard enough where I knew he could feel my throbbing nipples. “How does it feel to want me? A prostitute. Your own fucking sister.” I smiled sinfully. “How does it feel to want to fuck me, someone so beneath you?”
I barely got the words out before he snapped. I saw it there in his eyes, as if he had no control. His palm slammed into the side of my face, like a brick, knocking the air from my lips and sending pain shattering across my skull. Before I could react, cry out, or even think, his hand was gripping my chin and his lips were mashing against mine.”

There were moments in time like these, where I looked at my life and wished it was a little bit different. I wished that I wasn't at a man's mercy.

"You disgust me."
"No, I don't..."
He may not have wanted me back then, back when I was just a silly little girl with a crush. But he wanted me now. ~FAYE
