The first time Logan ever saw Charlotte, she was staring up into the rain.
Logan is searching for direction when his new roommate makes that entrance. With a body of pure sin, giant bright eyes, and the voice of an angel, she has his attention immediately. But everything about Charlotte is also screaming "hands off."
Charlotte is hiding. She made a life of pretending, and she is happy to keep it that way. Physically and emotionally scarred by the secrets of her past, the last thing she needs is a gorgeous roommate asking all the wrong questions. Their mutual attraction and devotion to music may be too strong to keep him at arms length, though.
Can they find a way to resolve the dissonance between them?
This book is intended for audiences 18+. It contains explicit language and sexual content.
Drew Elyse spends her days trying to convince the world that she is, in fact, a princess and writing tear-jerking and sexy romance novels. Her titles include the Savage Disciples MC and Sailor’s Grave series.
When she isn't writing, she can usually be found pouring over books with a pot of tea beside her, obsessively building her Disney collections, binge watching her favorite shows, or baking all manner of unhealthy things.
She lives outside her hometown of Chicago with her husband and their fur babies, Luna and Duncan.
This book has a similar formula to many other New Adult Romances I've read... woman with a damaged past meets man who has a string of women he uses for sex to distract him from anything real. But, they have an undeniable attraction to one another that eventually leads to something deep, real and healing. I loved the inclusion of music into the storyline. Their shared connection to music was my favorite part of the story. Charlotte was involved in a very abusive and controlling relationship when she was younger and most of the book is about her coping with the recurring emotions from that abuse... certain triggers cause her to have panic attacks. Logan could not help but be attracted to this damaged but beautiful and fragile woman. He was very loving and patient and just the kind of man Charlotte needed to help her face her fears head on and begin to heal. I liked that he was willing to fight for her and I really liked them as a couple. Even though this felt like a story I've read before... it was still a very satisfying read.
A very good story that explores the emotions of someone trying to cope with surviving domestic violence. I felt horrible for Charlotte. She was very broken and really going through the motions of her life until she meets Logan. I love that he was so patient with her. At one point I think he referred to her a baby dear because she could be scared to easily. Countless triggers could set her off in a heartbeat. I had a hard time not becoming frustrated with Charlotte but then I had to remember the psychological damage her self-esteem has suffered. It's not exactly something you can just snap out of. I loved that Logan helped her find her way. Another good ache read and I enjoyed it.
Dissonance starts off grabbing you into the story and keeping you there. The reader quickly tries to understand how Charlotte ended up in a hospital room. Talk about being glued to the book. I will admit that even though I thought I knew what was going on….I was wrong! Dissonance is a love story between Charlotte and Logan. But it never is as easy as it seems. These two meet as room-mates. This was suggested by Charlotte’s brother Eli, who is also the best friends of Logan. Eli does explain the characteristics of Logan to his sister in hopes it would detour any potential feelings. A “messy love life” and “some growing up to do” to be exact. Eli, trying to cover all his bases, even gives a warning to Logan, stating his sister is “off limits”. That is easier said than done, and Logan finds himself instantly drawn towards Charlotte. Charlotte has a been hurt physically and emotionally. No one knows or understands her story, not even her own brother Eli. She feels as though she can not be loved or deserves the love of Logan.
“I’m not strong enough to fix him when I can’t even fix myself.”
The harder these two try to stay away, just brings them closer. I emphasize that their ability to have a relationship was not easy. Logan fights for Charlotte, chipping away at her layers to get to her. I loved that both characters love music. And I always love a story with good song references. I fell in love with their story and was grateful for their HEA. The writing was done well and I connected with the characters in this story. Every emotion, the awkward moments even, kept me reading. I look forward to reading more books by this author. 4 smooches for Dissonance by Drew Elyse
Can they find a way to resolve the Dissonance between them?
Dissonance was a fantastic story, and I would give it a solid 5 stars! It is told in dual POV's of Charlotte and Logan. The sexy scenes were off the charts hot... and just the writing and the story itself were so well thought out that I couldn't help but give this a 5 star. This is the authors debut novel and you wouldn't know it by how well put together it is.. so I have to give Drew Elyse a big high five for an amazing story. You will get tons of emotions reading this book, and yes sadness is a big part of it. But Char and Logan have a electric chemistry and at times you wanna say "kiss her already" but damn if its not worth the wait!
Char aka Charlotte has just made a huge decision in her life to move from Chicago to Seattle to be closer to her brother Eli and her best friend Alex. Eli has taken care of Char for a longtime and a very tragic episode will give her no choice but to take this leap of faith and move away from everything she has ever known. Her brother sets up everything for her, he has an apartment for her to stay in but it comes with a roommate Eli's best friend Logan. Char isn't to hip on having a roommate but she knows its Eli's way of knowing she isn't alone and that she is safe. She has troubled past and because of this she is very quiet and keeps to her self and her music. When she realizes that music is a big part of Logan's life as well they start to form a bond... but she can only be friends.. she has built up to many walls and no one can ever break them down. Or will Logan be the first to shatter those walls into tiny pieces? She can only resist his charm for so long before the pull and the chemistry they have will ignite.
To say his grin was heart stopping would not do it justice. It made him nearly irresistible, and I had the impression that he used that to his advantage frequently enough. Already sensing that in him made it just possible for me to resist.--CHAR
Logan is a hardworking business man by day, but a tattooed Musician by night. He isn't a playboy per say but he doesn't do relationships because they just turn out bad for him.. he has his few flings and normal hookups but he puts all his energy into his band and his family business. But the day Char will come into his life will jolt things inside him like a lightning bolt.
Seeing her in person, it was obvious from the first glance that she was a hell of a lot better than cute. She stopped me in my tracks, and I'm certain that has never happened before. I'm not sure what it was about her that I found so arresting, but I couldn't look away, much less get my feet to move. -- LOGAN
When the chemistry between them just can't be put to the side anymore it will be explosive. They will learn more about eachother and also learn to change things about them selves to make a relationship with eachother work. But when past secrets and present existence collide... there HEA will be hard to come by... but can they make it happen? Will Logan be strong enough to take the blow of Char's past and will Char be able to let her walls down and finally feel what love is supposed to feel like?
God, this girl has no idea how damn hot she is. I could barely keep myself under control while we had been dancing. The way her skin glistened with a thin layer of sweat I imagined causing in much dirtier ways, the sweet floral scent of her that made me ache to know how she would taste, the way her body fit so perfectly against mine as though she was meant to be there, it all had me at the very brink of losing it. I would not, could not be the one to break her. -- LOGAN
Logan's arms wrapped around me from behind, pulling me against him and kissing my cheek. Contentment wasn't something I was all that used to, but in that moment, it consumed me.-- CHAR
I loved everything about his story..and I am so happy that we get Eli's and Alex's story next! I just want to thank Drew Elyse for a perfect romance story and look forward to so much more from this author!
A book that incorporates music, poetry, flawed characters (which I love!), and romance seamlessly, is one that I can fall in love with. Dissonance was fantastic in this way.
As for flawed characters, Charlotte was definitely that. She hurt her brother, and hurt others who loved her quite often. I couldn't help but wonder what made her this way, because, sometimes, she didn't seem to have much empathy at all for what she was putting others through. There were times when I was frustrated with Charlotte. Times like when she called her brother overbearing, overprotective, and generally acted like he was inconveniencing her, made her seem flippant and insensitive. But it was apparent pretty quickly that she had a troubled past, and my heart went out to her, regardless. To all of them, really.
The last thing Logan expects when agreeing to share his apartment with his best friend's sister, is to be struck dumb by a beautiful, damaged, kindred spirit, and he's forced to rethink his life and priorities. Logan was a character that was easy to love. He is charismatic, understanding, and pretty straight forward. Logan and Charlotte find a deeper connection with each other through the music that speaks to them both. They are unable to deny the instant attraction they feel towards each other, but Charlotte's reservations, and Logan's promise to steer clear of his closest friend's baby sister, kept them from acting on those feelings. They're both put off by the strong pull they feel towards one another, and they deal with their frustrations the ways they know best. Logan loses himself in random women. Or tries. And Charlotte puts up a wall, closes herself off, and embraces numbness. Or tries.
Of course, it's hard to keep their distance, given their living arrangement. But they sure try. Charlotte begins to make friends in her new city, but she and Logan always find their way back to each other. And, just when you think they can no longer hold themselves back, Charlotte's past demons are shoved to the forefront.
As the book progressed, I started to understand Charlotte a little more. Where I thought she was being selfish and childish with the way she treated Eli, I came to see that it was just her way of coping. Even if it didn't really work for her. It was painful, seeing Charlotte work through her insecurities and issues. My heart ached for her and what she went through. It was beautiful, the dedication that Logan had to making her feel loved and confident in her place in his life. But, as understanding as Logan was, always being the selfless one in their relationship started to take its toll. I was really rooting for them to overcome their issues. They both deserved a happily-ever-after.
I loved the playlist that went along with the each chapter. All the songs were great and fit the story perfectly. You could tell the author loves music. It translated wonderfully while reading and was something I could really appreciate. The writing flowed smoothly, and it was easy to get hooked into the story. Relatable characters, and chemistry made their story enjoyable and captivating. It was a quick, entertaining read for me, and I enjoyed my time spent with the characters this author brought to life. The interactions between characters was believable and authentic, the relationships sincere. Dissonance was a painful, emotional journey, and I had tears in my eyes by the end. It was truly a lovely story and I look forward to reading more from this author.
"Most people hated Seattle because of the constant wet weather, but it was what I looked forward to the most. I loved the rain."
Dissonance is the debut novel by Drew Elyse and I have to say she knocked it out of the park as a brand new author. This book was gritty, heartfelt, extremely emotional and heartwarming all at the same time. The emotions of each character could be felt through the words on the page and they gripped me in a way that made me often feel like I was in the room with them. I give this book 4.5 rainy stars and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Charlotte moves from Chicago to Seattle to be closer to her brother Eli and her best friend Alex after an unfortunate situation that left her in emotional turmoil. In order to try and alleviate her brother from incessantly worrying, she agrees to move in with his best friend Logan and start a life in Seattle. Closed off from the world Charlotte has a love of music that the reader finds out only rivals the one that Logan has. Logan is a hot tattoo heir to a lucrative business by day and a musician by night. He hasn't had a relationship as long as Eli has known him, preferring to have girls on speed dial for "booty-calls". Logan doesn't understand the pull that he has toward Charlotte from the moment he sees her standing in the rain and Charlotte has a level of comfort and ease with Logan that an extreme few people ever see from her. A match made in heaven??
Logan slowly begins to change his womanizing ways for Charlotte, knowing that he has to tread lightly and slowly into a relationship with her because she appears so fragile. Her panic attacks and the way she is closed off at someone uttering a single word, leads Logan to believe that there something pretty significant happened to her that Eli hasn't divulged to him. Charlotte slowly opens up to Logan, much to the surprise of Alex, who has lived through a similar circumstance and was only saved by the love she found with Eli. The small tidbits of information that Charlotte reveal to Logan throughout the beginning of the book has the reader entertaining all sorts of possibilities as to what happened that made her so introverted.
"Charlotte, I know you're self conscious about your scar, but I wouldn't judge you for it. I hate that you have had to suffer like that, but I am not going to throw meaningless pity at you. You are still the same in my eyes."
The love the blossoms between Charlotte and Logan is beautiful to see, because she deserves happiness more than any character I have encountered in a book in a very long time. And the 360 degree change that Logan makes in order to prove his love to Charlotte gives a girl hope that some of the book boyfriends we love and adore could maybe just be real after all. Although this book had a happy ending, it wasn't gift wrapped and unrealistic, but instead was heartfelt and gave the reader a sense that there was more for them in the future and they would work to get there. This book is an absolute MUST READ for all.
Dissonance is a love story told in the dual points of view of Charlotte and Logan. Both of these characters have a passion of music and poetry. Both have their individual struggles. Maybe they can work through them together.
"There is time, still time, for those who can groan to sing, for those who can sing to be healed."
When Charlotte almost takes her own life her brother Eli talks her into leaving Chicago and moving to Seattle. He cannot stand leaving her behind anymore and needs her to be around him where he can look over her. There is no reason for her to stay anyway. He has arranged for her to live with a good friend of his, Logan. He's a musician by night and by day he assists in running a real estate company with his dad and brother, Caleb.
As time goes on and they get to know each other, Logan realizes that Charlotte is broken and he wants nothing more than to fix her. But Logan is also a bit broken when it comes to relationships. He's usually a "wam bam thank you ma'am" kind of guy. Eli has warned him to keep his hands off of her. That she is not to turn into one of his conquests. In the story of Dissonance you rarely hear about him with a lot of woman unlike most of these "rocker" type of stories. It was a nice change of pace.
"Look, I know my track record with woman is less than stellar. But Charlotte is different. She makes me want more. She makes me want to be the perfect f*cking boyfriend because I know she deserves nothing less. When she smiles I cannot look away. When she's sad, I want to take on the whole damn world to make her happy. I'd lay down my own life before I'd let her be hurt again. Whatever happens, I just want what's best for her." - Logan
What I loved about the story is that the tattooed Logan isn't like all the other "rock star" guys. Yes, he can get any woman he wants but he doesn't make it his life mission to have every one of them. He doesn't have a big head like most and actually has heart. He also realizes that he can let his walls down and be in a relationship and that it can all come naturally.
"Despite the fact that I doubt that I'll ever deserve you, I can't stop myself from falling in love with you." -Logan
"The poor, beautiful, f*cked up girl that I'd become so attracted to had been handed more misery than I had expected, and I knew that there were still a major pieces missing.. Thanking God that she was still there, offering up my pathetic soul for chance to heal her pain." -Logan
When changes are made at his father's company, he needs to make a decision to assist more in the company or pursue his music career. Will he make the right decision? Will Charlotte do what she usually does and run?

Charlotte has recently moved from Chicago to Seattle in order to be closer to her brother. She has dark secrets from her past that make her suspicious of the affections of others and has left her with a deep mistrust of the opposite sex. But when she meets her new roommate Logan, a friend of her brother, she meets a kindred spirit; a man who has the same love of music that it is thoroughly engrained in every part of his life. Even though they seem to be perfect for each other, can Charlotte work through all of the horrible memories of her past in order to find a future?
Logan is immediately attracted to his new roommate but his best friend, Charlotte’s brother, has given him a “hands off” ultimatum. He sees in Charlotte a reflection of himself, a person that “sees” music, rather than simply hearing it. She and Logan connect with music on a level that is unlike any other, however is that connection enough to get Charlotte through her problems and give Logan a chance? Is music really what Logan’s true calling anyway?
Dissonance is an interesting love story that brings together two characters who are very much soul mates. They must work through their hang ups in the past, many of which Charlotte keeps deeply hidden, in order to find their way to each other. It is an unconventional love story with two characters that are deeply broken, for completely different reasons.
The characters were well developed and the storyline was well crafted, however I really could not connect with either Logan or Charlotte. Charlotte, while having some serious issues in her past, does not seem to want to move past them, choosing instead to feel sorry for herself and not choose to get the help she needs. She made for a very weak heroine that I was really on the verge of not liking. Logan as well just seemed a bit wishy washy and I really wanted him to man up at some point.
That’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy the story, I actually really liked the supporting characters, especially Eli (Charlotte’s brother) and Alex (Charlotte’s best friend), which is good considering they will be the main characters in the next book, Harmony, which has a release date TBD. I definitely look forward to that book and feel Dissonance is a definite four star read.
A genuine heartfelt story of two people falling in love.
Charlotte struggles with memories from her past. No one knows the pain she’s suffered. She keeps her past hidden from everyone. Living in Chicago is no longer working for her and she makes the decision to move closer to her brother Eli and his girlfriend and her best friend, Alex. Moving to Seattle and becoming roommates with Eli’s best friend Logan has her a little uncomfortable and nervous once she realizes just how gorgeous he is.
Logan’s known for ‘playing the field’ and not ever wanting to commit to a relationship. His passion for music has him struggling to make a decision about his future career path. Working for his father’s company or pursuing a music career with his band, Sinners and Saints. What he wasn’t expecting was to have this brown eyed, shy, sweet woman get under his skin and it just so happens to be his best friends sister, which he has already been warned to keep his hands off.
Logan feels he is unworthy and tries to keep his word to Eli but he can’t stay away. He’s infatuated, addicted, and so far gone. Charlotte won’t let him in and keeps him at arm’s length but once he decides there is no way he can stay away, he does everything he can to prove himself. Will he be able to gain her trust to let him in?
This was such an amazing story. Drew did an absolutely fantastic job in this debut. The story line was incredible and keeps you captivated from beginning to end. The characters were very well written. Logan and Charlotte’s journey was beautiful, magical, and emotional and a perfect balance for each other. I completely fell in love with Logan. He was so caring, loving, patient and gentle with Charlotte as she struggled with her fears.
Drew draws you in from the very first page. You can feel the emotions pouring right off the pages. Dissonance was emotional, funny, heart breaking and frustrating at times. I was completely consumed and devoured this story in a day.
An absolutely amazing debut novel which I highly recommend and can’t wait to read the next one.
Dissonance was a really great read. The book mainly focused on the relationship between Logan and Charlotte.
Charlotte was broken. She was a victim of the things that happened to her, yet she felt that what happened to her was her fault. Charlotte was closed, and empty inside. She never told anyone what happened to her, not even her best friend Alex, or her brother Eli.
When a horrible incident leaves Charlotte in the hospital, Eli, Charlotte's brother intervenes. Eli's best friend Logan needs a roommate, and Eli thinks it's a good idea for Charlotte to be that person. To get Eli off of her back Charlotte agrees to move in with Logan, not expecting her life to change.
Logan is your typical musician. He sleeps with whoever he wants, he's not into relationships whatsoever. He lives for his music. Even though his band hasn't made it big yet, he still hasn't given up on them. Besides being apart of the band, Logan works for his fathers company. Anyways, when Logan first saw Charlotte, he was pulled to her. After Logan discovered her love for music, and what music meant to Charlotte, he knew he wanted to be the one to save her.
Even though Logan and Charlotte's journey was anything but easy, Logan wouldn't give up.
Dissonance is the beautiful story of learning to live with your past, and not letting it define you as a person. Also, learning that it's OK to let people in because you don't have to always go through hard things on your own. Dissonance was an amazing heartfelt story. I laughed and cried my eyes out. Drew has a way with words. From beginning to end I was completely hooked. The thing I loved most about this book was the fact that it wasn't your typical boy band book. Dissonance was about the love 2 people shared for music, but not just the love, both Logan and Charlotte were empty, and the only way they new how to feel was through music. It was a different look into music, and I loved that.
Drew great job with Dissonance. I can't wait to read Alex and Eli's story.
Charlotte has been living with the weight of a past that doesn’t allow her to lover her life. Her brother Eli and his girlfriend (her best friend), Alex, both know something heavy happened, but they can’t really get through to her or know the extent of her scars.
Charlotte has panic attacks and she closes herself off to those around her, until she meets Logan. Logan is Eli’s best friend and becomes her roommate. He is captivated by her from the moment he first sees her, and does his best to keep a good relationship with her.
I enjoyed the way this story was more about Charlotte and her transformation than about the “bad boy gone good”. Logan is her anchor, and he knows how to read her very well. He doesn’t know everything that happened, but he begins to notice her triggers and works at helping her focus.
Their journey was so sweet, so touching, and the way they bonded over their love for music made it even more heartfelt. The way the author used “mood music” to introduce the chapters really enhanced the experience and drew me in even more.
This is the first novel for Drew Elyse, but you would never guess. She has written an amazing love story and has done it extremely well. She takes you on a ride of emotions, making you feel so much sympathy and love for her characters. These are people you would love to know and form relationships with.
I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves to read romance. I still can’t believe this is the first book by Drew Elyse! I am looking forward to reading Harmony, book 2 in the series.
I picked this book up to read not knowing anything about it (I do that a lot). I had no idea how to say the title or what it meant. I thought maybe it was a paranormal book. Shortly after starting it I was hooked and knew it was definitely not a paranormal book. I also looked up what Dissonance meant and it's a perfect title for this book. Charlotte has had a troubled past and goes to live closer to her brother Eli and her best friend Alex. Eli arranges for Charlotte to be room mates with his friend Logan. Logan is quite the player. Eli tells him Charlotte is off limits. Both Logan and Charlotte have a love for music. Alex is Charlotte's best friend. When Charlotte and Alex get together, it is entertaining. Charlotte despite her past and how it affects her, she is still a strong character. Logan and Charlotte try to fight their feels but they are to strong fight. When Logan realizes what he wants to goes all out to get it. Logan and Charlotte's story is a sweet great read. Their relationship has it's bumps which makes it an interesting read. The story is told in the dual POVs of Charlotte and Logan. I love books written in dual POVs because then you know what both characters are thinking.
I loved reading Dissonance. It's a great read. I enjoyed the book so much that I looked up the author to see what other books by her I could read. It turns out this amazing read is Drew Elyse first book. Needless to say I can't wait to read her second book, Harmony (Dissonance Series # 2), which will be Eli and Alex's story.
Dissonance tells the story of Charlotte and Logan, two people who are both dam aged in their own way, but are unable to fight the attraction they have for each other. Charlotte is relocating and looking for a fresh start. Her brother gets her a room with his womanizing friend Logan. At first sight Logan can't help but feel the pull towards Charlotte, even though he promised to keep his hands off and never does serious relationships.
Charlotte is running from a troubled past that no one knows about. She has dark secrets that are preventing her from moving forward. Despite how attracted she is to Logan, her past is keeping her from exploring her feelings.
I liked this book because even though both of these characters are "damaged", they didn't come across as weak in the book. Weak heroines are one of my pet peeves, and I loved that Drew was able to write about Charlotte being damaged while also having her come across as contained immense inner strength.
Logan is swoonworthy. Definitely a man of experience, he has no problem handling Charlotte with care. Their chemistry is off the charts, and it's inevitable the will be able to continue to fight it. A few twists and turns along the way will keep readers hooked. This is definitely a good book for people looking for a standalone HEA with characters that are easy to fall in love with!
I had no expectations going into this. I had a wonderful first impression of the author and the synopsis of Dissonance sounded interesting, but we all know that sometimes you can become hopeful for something only to be let down.
I was blown away.
I am oh so glad I said yes to Drew Elyse. The topics in this book touch everything from romance to mental health while keeping a musical connection throughout as well.
Charlotte, the leading lady, is outstanding. Her character is well-written and makes you want to read her story. You want to find out about her. Her quirky personality was contagious and had me smiling.
Dissonance stays focused on Charlotte’s relationships with her brother, her best friend, and her roommate. Their lives all connect in both simplistic and deep rooting ways.
Her attraction to Logan, her new roommate, is undeniable, but they find each other off limits for so many reasons. You will want to slap them both and cheer them on.
This story is endearing, sexy, and beautifully touches on topics that should be discussed.
The synopsis for Dissonance doesn’t do it justice in my opinion. My review doesn’t do it justice. Give this book a read.
After being pushed over the edge by her life in Chicago, Charlotte finally gives in to her big brother Eli and agrees to move to Seattle. The move takes Charlotte away from the memories and also closer to her only family in her brother and his partner Alex, also Charlotte’s best friend from childhood.
One thing Charlotte didn’t count on in her big move was her new roommate, Logan. When Logan agreed to letting the sister of his friend Eli move in with him, he certainly didn’t plan on being stopped in his tracks the moment he saw her standing in the rain outside his place.
Logan finds himself knocked off kilter and questioning his current lifestyle very quickly, even with the threat of harm from Eli about keeping far away from Charlotte.
This book drags you in and addresses the once taboo subjects of domestic violence and attempted suicide and how everybody is affected in the aftermath.
A great novel which I highly recommend.

Who doesn't have a love for music? I think everyone does in some way shape or form. Charlotte is a simple person who has a past that she has kept from everyone. Here brother has always been there taking care of her, making sure that she is alright, but even he knows something is wrong. When Charlotte ends up in a tragedy again she decides it's time to move and be closer to her brother and best friend. What she doesn't expect is the kindred spirit she finds in Logan. Logan has a history with women, but when he see's Charlotte his world turns up side down. But can he convince her that he wants her? Or will she let her fears run crazy and loose the one guy who wants her for her? Music, love, and passion is what we all want and this book will give it to you.
I thought the beginning of this book was a perfect way to introduce each of the characters. You have a taste of each one's personality and you can foresee that all of them are enjoyable. The story is mainly focused on Logan and Charlotte's relationship and how it evolves into much more. There was no chance Logan would be able to stay away from Charlotte. She is a beautiful person with a terrible past. When you do read the book, you can't help but get anxious to find out what happened to Charlotte. It has affected all of her life and relationships. The build up to finding out was intense.
I liked all of the book. Loved Logan from beginning to end. As for Charlotte help but feel heartbreak.
Charlotte has had a rough past and decides to keep her brother, Eli, from worrying himself to death she'll move closer to him. Eli moves Charlotte into his bestfriend Logan's spare room. Logan is a womanizer and has been warned by Eli from the get-go that Charlotte is off limits. The second Logan see's Charlotte he knows she's different and he wants to get to know her. Logan and Charlotte share a passion for music and use it to express themselves.
Logan and Charlotte's story is sweet and very interesting. I love that it flips back and forth between the main characters POV - it gives a view as to what they're both thinking/feeling. The characters are strong and I would give this book a solid 4 star rating. Will definitely be looking forward to book 2.
I'm almost at a complete loss of words to describe how much I loved this book. Logan and Charlotte have an amazing story that you really must read. I'm not one of those people that needs to leave a detailed account of a book because I want other readers to go on blind and find the joy of reading a great story themselves.
I will say that, because of my OCD about grammar and punctuation, there could have been a bit more editing done. But that is my own hangup when it comes to reading. The errors I found in no way way detracted from the beauty that was this book.
This was a sweet story about two souls drawn together by a shared love of music. I am typically drawn to stories that incorporate music into the storyline and Dissonance peaked my interest with the concept of roommates with a shared attraction. The character development was good, the writing was good and the story itself was good. While I liked the characters, I never felt a connection to them or the chemistry between them. This was a good debut novel from the author.
Overall Rating 3-3.5 Stars

This book had potential, but just missed the mark, for me at least. I’m pretty easy to please in terms of the main love interest in a book. However, I found myself cringing at the InstaLove during Logan’s POV. I was rooting for Charlotte mostly because she was a sweet girl damaged by her past. I just wasn’t emotionally attached, at all, to the outcome of this book.
Three stars because of its schmexyness, at parts, and Charlotte’s background story at the end of the book.
I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book, for me it was so emotional, I loved how patient Logan was even when it was moving so slow, he just sensed how important they were to be together. I was surprised at some of the description of what really happened to her. Honestly this book took me awhile to finish because it was so emotional at times it made me so sad for her and frustrated that she just wouldn't put it all out there but really that was foolish of me with abuse of any kind there is immense shame and to open up and be vulnerable I would imagine would be really hard ❤️
