Manhood, womanhood, male, female—what’s the big deal? Being all God created us to be starts with accepting what we are. Gender is an aspect of our being that affects our entire lives. Be What You Are is a Scripture-packed book that addresses the issues of gender that are frequently attacked in our culture today. Identity is questioned by the transgender and homosexual movements. The biblical model of gender roles is ridiculed by feminists and those who support their cause. The visible display of distinction between men and women has been debated for decades. The world will have answers to these questions when the Church clearly demonstrates God’s principles. This book seeks to make those principles plain.
Good at defining terms, etc. I found parts of this to be male chauvinist. Some of what he says about a woman’s role and a man’s role would go down easier if spoken by a woman.
I did like that author ended the book with the story of Rosaria Butterfield, a former lesbian, now a child of God through the concern of a godly pastor who cared enough to ask her some probing questions and took the time to answer her questions, as he and his wife befriended her and welcomed her into their home. I have read several of her books.
