Well I finally got my hands on the companion book to The Great Deeds of Superheroes and I must admit it was an interesting read. Originally I found this title through my love of the work of Robert Ingpen who illustrated both titles. However the book itself soon captured my attention.

What you have here are a number of stories ranging from mythical Greece to colonial Australia detailing the exploits and history of some amazing woman. true these stories have been stylised and in some cases romanticised but they all follow one simple rule - they show us the extraordinary actions of women and the events that both shaped them and they in turn shaped.

Now I am no history expert (I do not claim to be an expert of anything but history, mythical or otherwise I certainly first on that last) but I know that in a few short pages - each entry varies from a page to half a dozen - have been heavily abridged for this book however for someone who wants to just "dip their toe" this I think is as good a place as any and yes I am biased due to the incredible art that is so freely spread throughout the book.

So for historical accuracy I would suggest looking elsewhere but for an inspiring read this is a good place to start.
