Brimming with Psychological Intrigue, Suspense and Mystery! A must read third installment in the Bleeding Hearts standalone collection.
An Abrupt Departure, by P.D. Workman, follows Graham who gave up a demanding high-paying career in the city to live in the small town of Bleeding Hearts Valley. Now living an easier life (albeit a lonesome one) as a self-proprietor, he’s hired to haul out junk for clients.
But when his next job leaves him stumbling across various important items that no one (even those on the run) would ever think of leaving behind, he begins to question if something nefarious happened to the couple who were residing in that apartment.
The author’s easy-flowing storytelling, grasped my attention from the first sentence and kept me reading on late at night. It opens with a dual storyline that paints the erratic behaviors of an unhinged psychopath! I won’t give spoilers, so trust me when I say, this sicko is doing very, very bad things! I only remembered to breathe when the story flipped back to follow Graham’s own search for the truth.
You can’t go wrong with The Abrupt Departure or the second installment, I Saw You Sweetheart! (I still have yet to read Unhinged which kicked off this series, and I know promises to be just as gripping!) I really enjoyed my first book by P.D. Workman and highly recommend it!

I appreciated the depth you gave his character—his environmentally conscientious practices of donating, reselling and repurposing made him very likable in my eyes. (The man wants to keep everything out of the landfill!❤️)

Graham Hall, the trash collector, did more than collect the items people left behind. In this case he involved himself in a job that kept pulling him deeper into a series of events he never saw coming but the unimaginable happened. Maybe hauling trash isn't such a good idea. A great mystery and great characters. Highly Recommended.

Great read and first for me from this author. Loved the fact that the chapters were short and flowed easily making it hard to put the book down. And the twist? Yeah, that got me! Will definitely recommend!

What a crazy series of events! I liked Graham. He was a smart, logical, and ethical person. He didn’t feel comfortable when things felt off during his job. He couldn’t let it just lie, he had to find out what happened. Good thing too. I also like how he handled Ballantyne. That guy was a nasty piece of work. I enjoyed this book. I look forward to reading more!

Wow! This fabulous read kept me on the edge of my seat! When “junkman”, Graham Hall, arrives at a routine apartment clean-out, what he finds is anything but routine. Important documents, medication, and valuables have been left behind. Graham tries to involve the police, but they have no interest, so he begins to investigate on his own. Excellent storytelling gives life to a plot which is nice and twisty and characters who are well-developed and believable. Highly recommended! I enjoyed this book and would love to see a series based on this character. Very highly recommended! I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

This is the 3rd installment in the Bleeding Hearts Valley universe. It is a gripping story about a couple who left their apartment with very little. The question becomes whether they left voluntarily or not.
I hung on every page, trying to figure out what happened! I did figure it out a little over halfway through, but I still had to keep going. I had to find out how! This is a great addition to the anthology series! It's a must read!

Another great read from the Bleeding Hearts Valley collection! So far I am loving the mysteries from this little town.
Graham, the new junk removal guy in town, gets hired to clean out an apartment after the tenants randomly abandon it. As he's cleaning and removing their left behind belongings, some items left behind give him a bad feeling.
As he works with the local detective to solve this disappearance, we learn more and more about our missing newlyweds. There seems to be more to the story and Graham isn't planning to stop looking until he finds them.
A suspenseful read that kept me hooked and wanting to know more. I'm happy I received an ARC of An Abrupt Departure and recommend checking it out!

The writing and storyline kept me turning the pages and not want to stop. I loved the depth of detail in to Graham's character. The back and forth between detective joiner and Graham added to the storyline and I liked that neither of them gave up on the couple missing! I did not guess how the story was going to end at all. I look forward to reading more books following Graham and his business "Hall it away".
