I doubt that I ever would have read this book if it weren't for the fact that I am personal friends with one of the authors, a highly skilled concert pianist, who's talent intimidates me. LOL
As a young child I wanted to learn to play the piano, but my parents insisted I learn the violin. Although it wasn't said, I'm sure it was because we couldn't afford to buy a piano. I wanted to be involved in music so I took up violin lessons but my heart was never in it, and I soon gave up.
I was also helplessly tone deaf and wanted so badly to be in the school choir. My best friend had a piano, and I remember sitting at it for hours at a time learning the notes and practicing being able to truly hear. I eventually learned to sing and love to sing to this day.
When I turned 50 I decided it was time to learn the piano. I bought myself a Steinway and began to take lessons. I figured if I bought the best piano I could afford, it would be my motivation to learn. Twenty-five years later I still take a piano lesson each week and have learned to play. My teacher is very patient and kind. I practice every day and hold a private recital for my sister and brother-in-law once a year.
I believe playing the piano is very meditative and works the brain in so many ways. I love it. My dogs, Grayson and Dakota, are my best fans.
Reading Health, Wellness and Wholeness in the Music Studio was very helpful to me in so many ways, and I am very grateful to the authors.
