The veil that has shrouded the world is torn away in this, the final book of the Exiled trilogy. As humanity faces the threat of extinction against a relentless foe who has planned everything so meticulously that there seems to be no chance to succeed, a desperate struggle for the survival of all humanity begins.
Kaly's search for answers begins a journey that will test her beyond anything she has ever imagined, while Cody takes a journey of his own to try and discover a way to stop the threat.
Humanity's very survival rests upon finding a way to stop a foe that is unstoppable. Conflicts will take place. Sacrifices must be made. Old friends and enemies will meet once more. One way or the other, it will be an ending that will last for Infinity.
Indie Author, husband, father, avid reader and lover of books.
Strong, compelling women as many of the main characters is kind of my thing, because let's face it... the whole knight in shining armor cliché has been overdone long enough.
I felt it was long overdue that the girls got the spotlight, and the ones who have stepped forward thus far to have me tell their stories can certainly take care of themselves! They're not standing behind their male counterparts, they're standing beside them... and often a step ahead of them.
The first book was good and the second one better, while the third is better still. If one were to look in a writer's dictionary under the phrase, 'well crafted', this series would be listed as an example.
I can't say much without spoilers and that's a shame because there is so much I want to say. I will say that the blending of myths into the story fit the basic premise and there was not a single character who was 'out of' character. Every single one of them were made real, believable, and 'growing' within the length of the series.
On another note, I kind of liked the little mystery tidbit the author threw in at the end, but I won't spoil that either. I would recommend the entire series and would suggest telling friends and family to leave you alone for a couple-three days so you can do it straight through.
Exiled Book three by Scott Borgman coverThis time the antagonist is Hades the god of the Underworld. He's bidden his time and has been setting the game pieces up for centuries, now it's time to play his hand. Again Kaly and Cody are called upon to play their part in the war, but now it's not against Lucifer. Lucifer was duped by Hades and he's not happy about that so he forms an alliance with the humans.
This third book in the series has just about everything. More monsters and mythical creatures are added: zombies, harpies, a chimera, hydra, and a cyclops. There is a bit about the Bermuda Triangle, Atlantis, and Pandora as well. The story plot heats up and the adventure rages to a conclusion that is somewhat unexpected. I definitely enjoyed the entire series, though I was saddened by some of the losses at the end. There are always losses in war though.
In book three we see a more 'human' side to Lucifer, as former enemies join forces to defeat their common enemy. This book is set five years later than book two, but for me it was as though I'd never left and I was immediately captured by the story.
There aren't many books that make me cry, but I'm not ashamed to admit that I shed few tears during the ending of this story.
The trilogy as a whole is a roller coaster ride of emotions, as good battles evil and not everything is as black and white as it seems. The three books were well written and rather than simply reading a story, you are drawn in and experience the action alongside the characters. Although God and Lucifer, and heaven and hell, appear in these novels, they aren't 'religious' books and aren't at all preachy.
Scott Borgman is an amazing storyteller and the The Exiled Trilogy is an awesome read!
