Bloom, fairy of the dragon flame, Imusa, fairy of music, Stella, fairy of the Sun and the Moon, Tecna, fairy of technology and Flora, fairy of nature, form the group of Winx, young fairies who live in Magix and follow their training as aspiring fairies at the college of Alfea.
An engineering graduate, he started writing comics since high school. He began his career as a screenwriter when he met an older two-year-old illustrator, Giorgio Cavazzano, who needed someone who could help him emerge as an independent artist. Pezzin began collaborating with Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, for which the Pezzin-Cavazzano duo produced numerous stories published both on Almanacco Topolino and on other Disney magazines. But Pezzin didn't just write Disney stories. Assisted by Cavazzano for the drawings, Pezzin wrote the texts of the series (created by him) Walkie and Talkie, Oscar and Tango, Smalto and Jonnhy and Captain Rogers. Later the duo separated and Pezzin, always continuing to work for Mondadori, also wrote comic stories for Bonelli like some by Zagor and several by Il piccolo ranger.
After the comic book Topolino passes from Mondadori to Disney Italia, Pezzin starts dedicating itself almost exclusively to Disney characters, creating stories for various magazines such as Paperinik, Minni & company etc.
With the designer Massimo De Vita he has designed numerous successful Disney comic sagas such as Once Upon a Time ... in America, The Lords of the Galaxy, the Adventures of Tops de Tops and the Time Machine Saga. He also scripted stories for younger children like those of Cip and Ciop and the Little Mermaid.
In recent years Pezzin has stopped collaborating with Disney and has dedicated himself to the scripts of the Winx comic stories, published on the Winx Club.
time to go back to my childhood... done with first volume!! it was same as show, i also loved the art style; tho im hoping next volumes will be a bit different than show, would love to see new stories that show didnt cover👀
I recently went into a nostalgia-fueled trip and ended up watching all 4 seasons of Winx Club (I decided to skip the others because of the butchering all characters go through, my heart can't take that) and found that there are comics too! I'll obviously go on a reading rampage with these too, before I decide to rewatch everything again.
Annoying intro done, this was a super cute read. It's refreshing to see the girls in another medium! And I'm looking forward to the differences between the cartoon and comics.
i remember spending my precious kid allowance on buying new winx club magazines whenever it’s released. the girls were part of my childhood and maybe one day, i’ll read them all. it’s actually surprising that i remembered the characters very clearly even though the plot is forgotten.
Honestly I was excited to find these, since the show was one of my favourites as a child. But the version I found had the pages in an incorrect order, and the story was the exact same as the television show, to the point where they had the exact same jokes and had just taken frames from the show and inserted them into the comic. I don't know what I was expecting, but maybe something a little bit more creative.
Review first post on Uptown Oracle The Castle follows the first day of Alfea for Bloom and friends, and a quick introduction to the realm of Magix.
It follows the storyline of the series, with some scenes being almost exactly the same as those in Season 1, Episode 2 “Welcome to Magix!”.
I enjoyed the focus on this episode of the friendships forming between the girls. Whilst Stella and Bloom almost immediately hit it off and become best friends, some of the others not so much. Tecna being a bit abrasive and annoying the other characters is something that is leant into a lot later in the series for larger plot points, so I liked that these parts were shown.
There’s some brilliant artwork throughout the book, including the introduction of Alfea, the Trix and Bloom’s first transformation. There’s also a couple of pieces which look like they’ve been pulled from the TV Series’s storyboard and are a bit more rough. I’ve always enjoyed the overall art style, and the comic just shows even more of it.
REREAD! I remember reading Winx club and the W.I.T.C.H. series every week when they were released. I also grow up with animated series. I was following the franchise from Turkey so I am not sure if it was the same published issues or not as in my childhood but here we go. The storyline is the same as the animated series but this is not bothering me since I am living for nostalgia. The artwork is just so warm, and welcoming and makes me happy as always. characters are designed as fashion models and I appreciate wonderful outfit designs. The design of Magix and alfea is also very nice. I have too much to say about these comics. I will keep up with reviews in next issues.
Of course, I recommend reading this to anyone but I might be too biased because of my childhood memories.
MY CHILDHOOD 😭😭😭😭 Two years ago I cosplayed as Miusa for holloween then I thrifted some of the cds and absoloutely LOVED IT .The nostalgia this series gave me is ugh I used to watch the series all time when I was little . The introduction of the whole series was just as good and I loved the art style so much . I want to read all of them now !!!
3.5 Good intro to the series because you get right into Bloom starting at Alfea, but you're not told her background, so you read on to figure that out and find out what happens next.
I could never get rid of my Winx club magazine collection and I am excited to revisit these. I know that the plot is a bit different than the TV series.
I love that these comics always have a bunch of pages for games, quizzes, and interviews with the fairies (yes, they're fictional but who cares?) and other fun activities. You're not buying only a story, you also get loads of fun activities to do with your friends too!
Wonderfully girly, pretty and fun! Creating a fairy club with your best friends?? Who wouldn't want that? Highly recommend this book if you are a fan of the Winx Club series or even if you are new to this and want to read something with girl power and magic!
rereading these comics i religiously bought and read the very first day that each issue came out when i was a kid.
i deeply loved (and love) the show and these comics, i was such a big fan of the Winx when i was a kid. i want to try to reread all the comic issues.
it starts off with Bloom meeting Alfea, the world, and becoming friends with Stella, Flora, Musa and Techna. she encounters some issues and mysteries bloom around.
