This review is also available on my blog, Read Till Dawn.

Of all the books I've gotten for review, this is easily the most popular with my family! I told my sister (who's also my roommate) I'd requested it, and she asked me if it had come every day until it did. Before I got a chance to look through it she had already flipped through the whole thing, and our little brother had gotten a quick peek too. The cover just draws people in, making them want to see what sort of tips and tricks will make your room look as fun as the one in the cover picture.

I haven't followed all of the tips in the book (sorry, but I don't feel like moving my bed, painting my walls, or making magnets with pictures of my clothes on them!), but I've done enough to get a good feel for the book. The best advice the book had for me actually isn't even a project. In the section giving tips for organizing your belongings, the book suggests rolling your pants instead of folding them. Revolutionary! I tried it with both my pants and my skirts (what? Skirts can go in dressers, too!), and it's been working really well for me. I can find all of my bottoms really quickly because they're all laid out for me, and the rolling actually protects them from the wrinkles they would normally get when I root around looking for a particular piece.

Anyway, moving on from my wardrobe revelation. There are a lot of neat ideas like labeling jars with tags painted in chalkboard paint, and putting decorative tape around the cords coming from all your electronics so they don't look so messy. Bokram includes a lot of ideas for repurposing old things like camp t-shirts (a pillow or a rug!) and ribbons (a ribbon chandelier!). Of course, I only have two camp t-shirts so I can't make anything with them. And do most girls just have a random stash of "hair bows and scraps of pretty ribbons" lying around? Because I don't. To make the ribbon chandelier, I would actually have to go out of my way to buy ribbons for it. Which kind of defeats the purpose, in my opinion. However, there are enough different projects that there is bound to be something for everyone.

The one complaint I have about the book is that a lot of the projects simply don't work for me personally. For example, I'm not going to make sheer scarf curtains for my windows because then the light will wake me up in the mornings. And I can't decoupage my desk drawers because I don't have a desk! I get the feeling that the authors targeted the book for girls with nicer/more organized rooms than mine, with bedside tables just waiting to be decorated with post cards and desks dying for a spot of color via some washi tape. As for me, my bedside table is my bookshelf and my desk is my bed. That limits my personal use for the projects in the book, but I still think they're very neat and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to any girl looking to revamp her room.

SARAH’S REVIEW---AGE 10
I sooooo loved this book because I really, really want to redo my room. This book gave me tips on how I can get my parents to let me change my room by showing them I am a responsible. It says I can do that by cleaning my room and sorting my stuff into piles to give away, keep and throw away. I am hoping it will show them I am serious…I’m really, really hoping. It also give me tips on how to make changes without asking them to spend a lot of money, such as using scarfs for curtains and glamming up lampshades with jewels. My space is small so I was surprised to find out how I could make my space seem bigger by making it into areas for sleeping and book reading. It even taught me the right way to fold and store my clothes so they won’t get all wrinkled. I always thought changing my room was going to be easy until I read this book and now I know it’s a lot more than just changing the color. It’s a lot of work, but I think I am ready for it. Hopefully mom and dad will think I am ready for it too. Thank you so much for this book.

MY REVIEW
I loved this book not only for its creative ideas, but because of the step-by-step instructions. I was impressed because it starts out by suggesting before making any changes you ask your parents’ permission first, and then show them you are responsible enough to handle the task by going through your old things and sorting what you need to keep, toss or donate. This book is filled with motivation and planning techniques. It actually gives guidelines on how to downsize and determine what to keep. It shows how to divide your room into zones and discusses color and crafts to “glam up” from electrical cords to lamp shades. Once the clean-out is finished, then the fun starts with color and accessories!

My granddaughter has been begging her parents to let her transition from a little girl room to a more age appropriate room. I am in hopes; once she reads this book she will be able to show her parents she is ready to take responsibility.

Disclosure: I was given a copy of this Book by the publisher, ZonderKidz, Z Blog Squad for an honest review. I was not required to write a favorable review nor was I compensated for my review. The opinions in this review are my own.

This DIY idea book is full of creative ideas that you can do with little-to-no money. If you could transform your room into your own retreat, what would it look like? How would you get started? What or how would your parents be involved? What would be your theme? Do you know which colors and textures inspire or comfort you? The organization (steps in the process) are easy to follow and perfected for even the smallest corner of your room. Have fun and enjoy discovering your own style!

Shape Your Space: (pgs. 7-11) start with a vision journal (get those magazines and begin cutting and pasting
Get Organized: (pgs. 12-15) de-cluttering while packing away your younger treasures
Sculpt Your Style: (pgs. 16-19) your statement about what is useful, necessary, pretty, and comforting
Smarten Up Your Study Space: (pgs. 20-38) getting crafty and organized
Dress Up Your Bedroom: (pgs. 39-57) favorite T-shirt pillows, postcard your travel dreams, scarf quilts and jewelry shades
Wake Up Your Walls & Windows: (pgs. 58-73) neck scarf curtains, clothesline with clipped art, floating crated book shelves
Cute Up Your Closet: (pgs. 74-90) handbag organizers, framed jewelry spots, candy jar corrals
Glam Up Your Vanity: (pgs. 91-107) vintage vanity tray, makeup mason jars, empty perfume bottled vases
Everything Else: (pgs. 108-123) glittered magnetic dots on a tin/cookie sheet, teeny terrariums/fairy homes, braided rugs
Make It Yours: (pgs. 124-128) keeping it clean, freshly scented, sleepover favorites

During every season of your life, there will be an emerging self that can be embraced, celebrated, and inspired. If you are feeling lost or lonely, do something good for yourself... why not redo a mason jar just for your make-up brushes? Why not cut and paste a "dream" journal that shows what you think is beautiful, unique, or inspiring? Why not fix up a little retreat corner of your own? Doing good things for yourself doesn't always mean buying something that will be discarded in a week or a month. Passing on some of your treasures can bring joy to someone else and a new space for you to re-make.

Enjoy celebrating over your changes,

My Review:

As your children reach their teen years they will start to feel the need to express themselves. They will do this in many ways and one significant way that they want to express themselves is to redecorate "their" space which for all intent and purposes is their bedroom. The editors at Faithgirlz have put together a very helpful find Redo Your Room: 50 Bedroom DIYS You Can Do In A Weekend. They take simple things and spiff them up to look store bought but without the added cost. Much of these projects can be achieved with simple items around the house.

From little pieces of lace or fabric to dyed or paint there is a wealth of information to be found between the pages. The pictures are vibrant and come alive with hope of a brand new, fresh, cool-looking room in just a weekend. There are some really cute craft ideas and tons of suggestions on how to make this space your own. Great ideas!

REDO YOUR ROOM is a book my thirteen year old daughter is greatly excited about. Fun crafts that will give her space an instant make-over. The ideas are creative. Picture-frame jewelry holders – wow, I wish I would’ve thought of that. I got her a small wire birdhouse to hang her dangly earrings on, but this is so much better. There is also clipboard art, and so much more for instant sprucing up. Even my eighteen year old daughter is excited about this book—and my ten-year-old.

If you have daughters and they have space of their own, you’ll want to consider REDO YOUR ROOM. A great book for girls filled with brilliant ideas.

Don't know what to get for a pre-teen or teen for their birthday? Get them this book and a $25 Hobby Lobby (or your local craft store) gift card, and they can get the supplies they need to make some of the great mini projects in this book! You'll be boosting their creativity and giving them a gift that keeps on giving!

I was thrilled that this book covers everything in your child's room- furniture, study area, closet, walls and organizing their stuff! Yeah team! The study area included a great way to use those fabric rubber bands that they don't want to use anymore to make fabric book covers, ways to organize their must have info on their walls in an organized way, that is helpful for studying and even a way to glam up those ugly computer cords- who knew? The bedroom section includes some pretty helpful hints, including basic design ideas that will carry them into adulthood!

All in all I was pretty impressed with how many projects (50) were packed into this little book! Many of them would be great for other places in the house, or to have your kids make for birthday presents for their friends!

The crafty projects continue with a ribbon chandelier- which Miss Grace is eager to make!-, an envelope organizer to hold cherished folders on the wall, a picture frame to show off colorful jewelry, painted craft boxes for bookshelves for trinkets and needed items, a braided rug from old clothing (recycling!), a super easy string art project (remember making those in school?), and mod podging furniture knobs! Some of those projects might be great for your room too!

This is a great book, that includes great ways to recycle their favorite items, and still keep them

Without further ado, here is the expert, Ms. Carissa!

I liked this book because I like changing the style of my room often and this gave me a lot of ideas. I tried them out and they worked really well for me!

This is a great book if you are looking to re-style your room. There was one idea that I really thought was interesting, where you could use old shirts you can't wear anymore, and turn them into pillowcases. I'm looking forward to trying that one soon!

The pictures are a big part of this book! The ideas are really creative and it helps be able to see what the final product will look like. I think the curtain made of scarves is really cool, and I will try that someday.

The book shows you step-by-step instructions for each craft. It also gives you advice on how to keep your room organized.
