Nathan never should have gotten in that truck. That he knew for sure, but something animalistic, something sexy, something almost magnetic drew him to the mysterious brooding man who beckoned for him to get in and so he did.
What ensues is a night Nathan will never forget, filled with intrigue, passion and mind-blowing dominant sex only an Alpha werewolf shifter can give you; a night Nathan soon finds he was destined to experience. But could it lead to true love or will Nathan be tossed aside like he has by so many men before him?
In Jamie Lake's first werewolf shifter erotic gay romance series, the pages are filled with steamy scenes, light BDSM and passion.
If you're a fan of Josh Lanyon, Sara York, J.P. Barnaby, Abigail Roux, Riley Hart or the Wolf Creek Pack books, you'll enjoy this short quick read.
Jamie Lake is the author m/m gay romances such as The Trainer, Boyfriend for Rent, Marked for Love, Bad Boy: Naughty at Night, Stay Always and many others.
This is erotica, not an M/M romance. And that's fine, I like an erotic short story now and again especially if shifters are involved. But unfortunately, there is no plot here and the sex was boring and clichéd. Buck did nothing but order Nathan to s*ck his d*ck and call him a "bitch." Not hot in my opinion. I didn't feel the chemistry between the two men at all which should have been the draw of an erotic short. Also, there was no character development to even warrant an interest in buying the next book since this one ends on a cliffhanger.
I beta read this for Jamie and loved it. I agree with the other posters in that in was very short, but it's a great opening/teaser introducing a new series about shifters that she is starting. Ending was great and left me anxiously awaiting the next book in the series.
I would definitely consider this a guilty pleasure, like double chocolate fudge cake - so sinfully delicious that more than a small slice would be too much while you'll crave another piece later.
I like the connection between the two characters. You can feel some chemistry without a familiar relationship. I'm usually ok with that as long as an emotional connection develops as some point which I can see the beginning of. My interest is definitely piqued.
The heat was intense. Very steamy! I'll be looking for Book 2.
I was very excited to be a Beta for Jamie on this new series. I fell right into this story and being that is a very short read I was sad when I got to the last page. I love the start of this relationship between Buck and Nathan what can I say love me an Alpha which Buck is and Nathan who just wants to be loved. I really enjoy the idea of a mate and the "MINE" aspect. I really look forward to reading more in this series I am already in need of more Buck and Nathan and see where this story takes us. Great quick read, very enjoyable.
You know from the first page this is going to be a book with many twists, a journey that will keep you reading in anticipation for what is to come.
Jamie Lake is probably the only author that can get me to read a short story. The storyline is brilliant this author has one hell of a imagination ,I just wish this series were put into one book.
I don't want to give any spoilers or the storyline away but this is a edge of your seat story that is a must read!
This is my first paranormal mm and I know it won't be my last! Holy heck it was hot! I had no idea I would be turned on so much by a gay werewolf but I was! This short story set up the new series nicely, I cannot wait to read more! Jamie defiantly has my interest with these characters!
3 stars but it has potential for the rest of the series
I liked the set up. Guy ditched by his "friend" walking through the woods and gets picked up by a guy. Finds himself attracted but a bit scared and intimidated while at the same time wanting to please. Things moved really fast (because it's a short) and it ends i a cliffhanger but I think things are going to get really interesting in the next installment. I'll read at least the second book but might continue on.
So this is a one night stand between a stalker werewolf and some abused kid.
Not a book. This is a non-entity. The characters are nothing, I barely even know their name. There's no story to speak of, except the MC being an utter dumbass following this incredibly creepy n' forceful dude into his house.
Oh and wolves don't act like that. They don't attack people out of nowhere. I don't know if they're meant to be werewolves, again no story, so I'll take it as I want to.
I'm not sure if it was the lack of a plot (until the very end) or if it was the narration of one of the protagonists, i.e. 'Buck' but I had a hard time getting into this story. The first hour of the story presents a BDSM sort of approach, but not a very good approach. The last portion of the book, you are giving details that make one might (not me) want to listen to the remainder of this series. Hmm, that's all I got.
When I started this short story, I didn't realize it was part of a larger series. It stops after just a few pages and nothing is really resolved. I get why authors do this, but as a voracious reader, I don't enjoy serials that can easily just be one publication. I'm interested in the characters and the mythologies, but if I can't easily find the next installments, I'll look back at this unsatisfied with not knowing more.
The book is wonderful I enjoyed it the characters is really good but there was one I enjoyed the most was the werewolves I read all kinds of books but this i enjoyed the most Keep it up Thank you Gia
2.5 stars for the sizzle (and just using the "story" as sparsely/incompletely written elements to turn up the heat)
The first in a series of short erotic pieces, the story focuses on a human (Nathan) who goes home with a wolf (Buck) only to become the center of a fight among several wolves to take (and seuxally use) him. There supposedly is a quick, deep love built between Nathan and Buck, but their physical connections came across almost as non-consensual as those of the attacking wolves, and the emotional connection suddenly arising between the pair seemed totally out of place. I can enjoy dominant action and even dubious-consent in sexual scenes, but the author's attempt to interweave a deeper affection and love into the picture fall really flat.
Done well, a emotional connections that ring true would spice up a nice erotic/dominant story, but unfortunately the attempt to bring love and deep trust between Nathan and Buck into the series just rang false and unbelievable go me, adding little to the heat.
This was a really short read that the author Jamie has let me beta read.
I LOVED the book. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be finished! In the beginning of the novella I was not sure about Buck. He seemed intense and scary. I am glad he turned out to be a good guy. The love scenes were intense and hot. Very well written in my opinion. I also liked that you set it up for a maybe, possibly, probably may have a gang bang in the near future. That would be hot to read. I did think Nathan was a bit trusting and felt emotions that were out of place in anything other than a shifter/mate series. I think you are setting up to be a dominant wolf and more submissive human, which I like. The body types for the MC's are spot on for me too. My favorite is older bear type with the smaller younger twink.
This book, even being WAY TOO SHORT, was really good. Jamie describes the characters with so much thought and detail its like you are actually there with them and can see them so clearly. Nathan is a sweet character who had some shitty things in life happen to him that have caused him to be wary and doubtful of those around him. Buck is funny because for awhile I just couldn't get a read on him. He comes off extremely serious and gruff but underneath all that he has a passion and caring nature about him, especially for Nathan. The ending leaves you hanging big time and just makes you want to read book 2 as soon as it comes out to see what fate will bring for Nathan. Will the pack get their way or will Buck step up and protect what's his?
As always, I love the way there is only one mate for a wolf. Nathan is that for Buck. He has waited a long time for Nathan and now that Nathan knows Buck can finally have him. I am surprised by the pack coming for Nathan. Usually the pack respects the mate of another wolf but they seem to be very aggressive...I guess I will see why in the next book. It is a little over done with the description of everything and a lot was repeated, which makes you want to skip parts to get to the subject at hand. Stick to what is relevant in the story and it is sure to be amazing. Ok, I am off to book Two
I was asked to beta-read this story. Overall, I really enjoyed it. I do love werewolf shifter stories, or just shifter stories in general to be honest. It does end with a cliffhanger, so be prepared. It makes you crave to read more though, to see what happens next.
I think Buck was described well. You can visualize him sitting in the truck oozing with dominance. Nathan on the other hand. I can't 'see' him that well. The depth of his background that is given to us, helps make him more realistic.
There relationship is very quick, but there is still a lot more to come.
If I were to describe this story in one word, I'd say that it's hot.
It's my first Jamie Lake read, and I can say with conviction that it won't be my last. I love Jamie's writing, it's so descriptive... I loved the way she described the forest and well, the characters... everything, really. I also love her ability to create tension and anticipation.
I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of Nathan and Buck's story. :)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book was a great start to a new series : Marked for Love. The beginning on the books get you hooked and can't put it down. The story line is dramatic and the characters are likable and HOT. Jamie has done an awesome job on this book and sets you up for wanting more of this series. The incredible cliffhanger makes you want so much more. Excitement, Drama, and Sex are the mainstay through this book. I loved it. Reading the next 2 that are out.
If you like your settings filled with tension so palpable it practically leaps off the page, you'll love this book.
Nathan is picked up as he's hitchhiking and the feelings rolling off his rescuer have him confused, terrified and attracted in equal measures.
It's only later he discovers they've had a previous encounter but that isn't as reassuring as it should be. Especially when Buck recounts what happened when Nathan was sixteen.
Like many of the first reviewers, I did a beta read also. Yes, this was short, but she did say it will be a series. I am not sure what I think at this moment; I normally enjoy the alpha wolf type stories and hope this one ends a tad 'softer' than it began.
One of those insta-heat pieces, which isn't always a deal breaker. But when both MCs starting doing or saying things that just seem too obvious or dumb, I end up arguing with the author more than following the story line. Had to set aside at 69%, but unlikely to finish, since I've no interest in sequel.
This was pure M/M erotica not a romance THERE is no discernable plot or character development aaand no real attraction besides 2 horny men.. not really sure where they can go with this "love story" LOL
Beta read for Jamie. Good start to a new shifter series, but there was not enough details into the shifter aspect. I am a big fan of shifter stories, so I missed that part of it. Maybe that will be further explained in future books.
Great beginning to the story. Too short for the price though. it is really only 2 chapters. Hope it available on Amazon Prime next month - if not won't be finishing this series.
