Teenage Pine can't wait to escape the family farm to the life he knows he was meant for. Not that Pine's life is like that of his fellow farm kids: His mother is a pot smoking ex-hippie. His siblings were all fathered by different men – none of whom are around. His girlfriend is half-Mexican. Even their agricultural school intern is from the city. In this story of love, lust, and finding your true self despite yourself, events conspire to show Pine the way forward.
