2000 cD with book demonstrating Carol's technique for paper piecing.
The book contains the foundation patterns for 50 stars named after the states (in the USA.) Some of the patterns depended upon fussy cut fabric for their individual uniqueness. I thought it was fun to find just the right fabric for the blocks.
I like using Ricky Tims Stable stuff or Beth Ferrier's wash-a-way freezer paper for this technique because you do not have tear the paper away. Spritz the block (quilt) with water and they soften. These products have only become available within the last couple of years.
I borrow all of my books from the library, until I find the ones that I must have. Only then do I go out and buy them.
This is a must have for me. I'm a relatively new sewer/quilter and the paper piecing techniques in this book make it so easy to create really outstanding pieces.
Clear, concise, easy to follow instructions with brilliant patterns/designs.
There are 8 stars in this book I would like to make. I accomplished 4 averaging 2 or 3 days per star. I think the designs of the stars should be more faceted like a diamond and there is a lot of scope to improve the color combinations. By targeting creating luminescence and depth my finished stars really pop! Turquoise, Cerulean and Blue (and one pink one for E's quilt).
Carol Doak is one of the best paper-pieced quilting teachers in the art. This book has stars for each state, and patterns for foundation paper piecing quilt tops. The directions professionally written, I have already started a quilt top and find the project easy to do. I should learn a lot by the time it is done.
