A fun and educational gamebook which takes its subject matter quite seriously. This one has the reader taking on the role of a person lost at sea, and if you survive long enough you end up on a deserted island. The book uses actual survival advice, so if you learn it all beforehand you will have no trouble breezing through the main story without dying.
One unfortunate note, the edition I read (paperback) has an error on page 64. The option which states, "search for fruit trees along the beach" is meant to point to page 101, but instead directs the reader to page 100, which jumps past half the book straight to one of the better endings. Its a shame in what is otherwise a really good educational book.

I enjoyed travelling back to my “Choose Your Own Adventure” days! This title takes place in the South Pacific Ocean, providing lots of adventure as the reader tries to avoid all the many dangers in that environment.

Included throughout the book are pages of fun facts related to the subject matter, such as “Hammerhead Sharks,” “Open Sea Survival” and “Edible Seaweeds.” A map of the area is included at the beginning, along with an explanation as to how to read this book. At the end of each short section (every page or two), the reader has a choice as to how to proceed, and the arrows send him to a page based on his decision. Then it is a matter of finding out if the correct decision was made or if the reader will face “The End!”

End materials include several non-fictional articles related to the South Pacific region, some true lost-at-sea stories, a glossary, bibliography of print and websites and an index.

This is a ''choose your adventure" book, it's to see your survival skills to see if you can survive in the wild, you will need knowledge to "survive" and not be "killed" by all sorts of things
