The Psychic Detective and the Editor
If you love crime and ghost stories, then you will love this novel which combines those two genres. Homicide detective Ellen Owens has recently moved into a new home just outside of her hometown, Columbus, Georgia. After a chance sighting of two grieving women, at a nearby cemetery, Ellen and her partner Nathan are drawn into a thirty year-old cold case. In 1978, a young editor named Regina Ann Mitchell went missing on her way to a work related party. The only thing ever found of her was her car, parked next to a bridge crossing over the Chattahoochee river. Unknown to Ellen's partner and co-workers, she has a gift that aids their investigation, but her gift is changing. To complicate matters, a new man enters Ellen's life. Can she manage to solve the cold case while struggling with her evolving gift and this new guy who threatens to unfreeze her frozen heart?

She lives with her husband and two sons just outside of Columbus. She has been writing poetry since she was a teenager and began to write novels in her late thirties.
She loves ghost stories, but is not bound to just that genre. Since publishing her first book, Footsteps in the Attic, she has added several novels, The Psychic Detective and the Editor, The Lady of Lake Ossahatchee, and Footsteps in the Basement, as well as two short stories, The Elevator and Rattlesnake.
Heidi feels fortunate to have the opportunity that Amazon provides and has decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from her second novel to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, while donating a portion from her third and fourth novels to Cystic Fibrosis: Reaching out, which is an organization that helps families pay unexpected bills related to the treatment of CF.

Superb work
This is a fantastic novel. I loved it especially for 4 things: One, right from the beginning, there's some positive clue in the investigation unlike many other suspense thrillers, wherein the first 80% of the book there's no clue whatsoever, thereby rubbing the agents' frustrations onto the reader. Secondly, there are a couple of other small cases mentioned simultaneously, which makes it more realistic and the diversion is a welcome breather. Thirdly, i loved how the agent goes far beyond her duty to get people together and how various people gel together under her lead. Lastly, i loved the correct amount of supernatural element, romance, suspense, social life & positivity in this novel. Thanks to the auther and I can't wait to read all her other novels...

Very good story
I really enjoyed this book. It had an ongoing action at a good pace. sometime get bore with some stories be cause the writers are redundant and the story does not move at a good pace. This story kept my attention constantly and I wanted to keep reading to the end. I believe she is a good writ.

Too Cinderella-ish. Too cheesy
A many liberties with police work. A seasoned detective talks about cases with outsiders and takes potential suspects to her home. I’ve read enough to know author took a lot of liberties.

Good read
The characters all seem to appreciate what life has given them loving family and friends. They work the cases but stay positive in life. It was a good story especially with the psychic parts.

impressive mystery of death
This story was intense, Ellen at times had no idea what was happening to her. I felt for her with her nightmares, however her work ethics was amazing. I liked the characters they made the storyline work.

INTERESTING MIX OF DETECTIVE WITH A LITTE PSYCHIC. A LITTLE WORDY WITH STUFF I REALLY DID'NT WANT TO KNOW IF NOT FOR THAT THIS WOULD'VE BEEN A NOVELLA. ;}

I really enjoyed this book. I had read her earlier book yesterday, and immediately went to find something else by this author. I read an average of a book a day, usually mystery or fantasy, but I often branch out to other genres. This is a good, interesting read that held my attention. I liked the touch of paranormal and was happy not to have a bunch of mushy romance to have to skip over. I don't mind a little thrown in like this book did but I absolutely hate to start reading a mystery only to find that it's a romance with a tiny bit of plot thrown in to take up space between romance scenes. Thanks to Ms. Mitchell. Hope she has another book in this series out soon.

The thirty year old mystery of Regina Mitchell gets lost this story. It is cluttered with distractions of the main character moving into a new home,meeting a man who she becomes attracted to and police procedures. Detective Ellen Owens and her partner reopen a cold case involving the disappearance of Regina Mitchell thirty years earlier, after seeing the ghost of Regina in a small cemetery. Secrets, lies and blackmail are revealed and suspects emerge. Finally the truth is uncovered and the killer is found.

Kept my interest, enjoyed it. Just what I love to read. Mystery, Suspense, and a bit of Paranormal...read in one day. Couldn't put it down.

Straight forward
This story had a good mystery and all the right components but the dialogue seemed to be flat with little emotion. The characters were lacking in substance
