Equipping today's gospel churches. Ray Evans looks realistically at the barriers to church growth, as well as the hurdles of reorganisation and structural changes that growing churches inevitably face. His findings are anchored in the Bible and the very real world which we all inhabit.

I reached the end of this book enormously challenged and enormously encouraged. I see our own church as teetering on the Awkward Church bracket. His approach which combined biblical faithfulness and extrabiblical wisdom/insights is wonderfully refreshing. Here is spirituality and pragmatism melded together.
He holds helpfully together throughout the twin threads.
We are all reading this as a church leadership team and the next step is to work out together how we combine what we personally have learnt into a coherent direction for our church family.
Very highly recommended.

Diagnosis very helpful. Prescription less so.

Very helpfully talks about churches of different sizes and feels like looking in a mirror when he talks about some of the blessings and challenges. But the solutions are less applicable and I found it less engaging. So much so that I ended the book early.

Some great ideas and wisdom for growing churches and churches that could be growing and aren't.

Very practical advice on the process of moving a church forwards, drawn from his own experience of seeing a church grow (in the UK). Warm-hearted and wise, it describes the pitfalls and the various strategies that churches of different sizes can adopt. But this is no mere how-to book that offers quick-fix solutions. It comes from the heart of a pastor who wants people and churches to flourish in their devotion to the Lord Jesus. Of course, not every part will suit every reader, but it is nevertheless an extremely helpful tool to get leaders thinking about what churches should be doing.
