Buzz is a dragonfly. A very large and scary looking one. Buzz begins every day by flying around the Irish countryside to visit his neighbors. Unfortunately, his neighbors don’t appreciate his happy-go-lucky attitude. Buzz is lonely and wants friends so badly. Everywhere he goes people yell at him and tell him to go away. This makes Buzz very sad. He only wants one true friend. Someone who he can to play with and fly around the meadow. Someone to laugh and be his best friend. A big life changing event is about to take place and it will change his life forever. Will Buzz ever find a friend? Will people ever like Buzz?
Children's illustrator and author Mary Jo Prado resides in Maryland with my beautiful teenage daughter and our adorable kitty, Millie. I love to write, draw, garden, read (of course not all at one time!) I have a genuine interest and love for children's literature. In 1978, I studied commercial art at the Professional Institute of Commercial Art in Pikesville, Maryland. Upon completion, I a certificate in commercial art.
I've won a place in the coveted Guideposts publication, "Expecting Miracles." I also earned recognition on the prestigious Children's Come First website for several of my short stories.
This is a gorgeous story about friendship - and misconceptions.
Buzz the dragonfly is big, strong and scary. No-one wants to talk to him; everyone is scared of him ... until one day when he is the only one who can rescue Dottie and her 35 children.
The story of Buzz the dragonfly has relatable concepts for children. Although it can be enjoyed as a story, it can also be a starting point for discussions on friendship, bullying and doing the right thing no matter what.
