A standard "christmas gift book" with sappy writing and lots of pictures. I've kept this book for two reasons - 1) twenty recipes have been updated from the original Victorian directions and 2) the illuminating diary entries from Queen Victoria herself describing a christmas in the palace. The diary entries are hidden deep in the book since they show that the Queen of England, the Victoria for which this book is named, didn't actually make that big a deal about Christmas. Her gift to her mother? A bracelet made from her own hair. No surprise, no craft pages in this glossy book show you how to make your own Victorian hair bracelet.

More! I want MORE Victoria! I love Victoria magazine which just started publishing again after a 3-year hiatus. This is a mesmerizing Christmas book for all of us who love Victoriana. I'm more of a primitives girl myself, but I enjoyed this. The photo of The Little Church Around The Corner in NYC (aka The Church of the Configuration) was heavenly. Now I want to visit it. MORE Victoria!
