An overview of American Indian music and dance which includes a discussion of their instruments, the structure of their music, and the uses of music in Indian life.
John Bierhorst is the author, editor, or translator of more than thirty books on Native American lore, including Latin American Folktales, The Mythology of South America, The Mythology of North America, and The Mythology of Mexico and Central America.
A well-researched and thorough compilation and explanation of the music of different North American tribes. It is an older book, so some of the terminology is a bit outdated, but other than that, this is an excellent resource.
