The Book of Unknowing: From Enlightenment to Embodiment

Rate this book
THE BOOK OF UNKNOWING continues the leading-edge work begun in the The Book of Undoing. That was about how-to awaken, while this one is primarily about the post-awakening experience itself—how to clear. Topics addressed include how to assess if you're awake or not, why you may need a teacher, what our experience is in post-awakening, experiments and inquiries, and dozens more. It contains 33 articles that have previously appeared on AwakeningClarityNow.com or other websites.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Fred Davis.

He’s a home spun non-dual teacher with a speckled past.

I have found some of his pointing out instructions to be utterly, ridiculously effective, powerful and transformative.

Something about what he does REALLY works for me.

But he’s (certainly) not for everyone.

This is not my favorite Fred Davis title.

Those would be (in rank order).

1: The Book of Undoing
2: Awaken Now
3: Beyond Recovery

Still worth reading (just read the others first).

Some more good pointing and clarifying by Fred

This is a continuation from Fred Davis’ other books. I have to say that Fred does give away much of his information and pointers online for free, and in his modestly priced ebooks, so the author does seem genuine in attempting to help others attain some sort of Nondual clarity. That said, I find his material to be a little too repetitive and droning on the same topics after a while, almost drifting into the self-help space that a lot of spiritual authors end up drifting into, such as Tolle etc, rather than sticking to the bare bones of enlightenment per se. The best part of this book is probably the Looking Mirror piece at the end, which was also taken from a previous book of his. I prefer his first book and material related to awakening only, since the clarifying material seems too repetitive and addressing issues that should self-clear if an initial awakening was done completely.

Excellent book in self inquiry and awakening, in clear, modern and precise language, delivered with wry humor and keen insight into our human condition and beyond. Recommended to any serious seekers out there.
