Another "day" in Bilbury Village

I just love this series. In fact, I don't think that Dr. Coleman has written a book that doesn't make you feel good about people, nature and life in general.

To know that these people really existed makes the books all that more delightful.

Another fabulous book in this delightful series. I feel Vernon Coleman is very much writing about himself here, I know him very well now from both his books and his many videos over the last 18 months and the doctor in the book is very well aligned with the author's character although somewhat less irascible! I love the way the whole series quietly sets about educating the reader in both medical matters and the environment.

Enjoyable

You just get the most warm and fuzziest feeling when you read these books. The characters feel like family and the stories are so much fun and interesting. It's surprising because I actually learn something new in each new tale. You can read each book as a standalone but so much more engaging as a series.

Most peculiar...

His wife has a baby but he never once mentions his name except he was named after Dr Brownlow and HIS first name was never mentioned. Apart from all that, this was very enjoyable.

Book 5. I read everyone of them makes me laugh and makes me cry I’ve never laughed so much in my life. I wish I had discovered them sooner. They bring Absolute joy.

Always a pleasure

Thoroughly enjoyable, this series matures like friendship between the characters who populate it and the reader. It is amusing, touching and gently profound.

This was one of my favorite volumes in the series. There were some sad parts, but it was a good ending that wrapped up the story in an appropriate way. As with the other books everybody from outside of Bilbury is portrayed in the same way, which I think is unfair. But I still enjoyed the loving tone that the author has towards the village and its residents. The book does end with the author back to practicing medicine, and I know he quits again at some point, so it would have been interesting to know what makes him quit, but maybe that will show up in another book.

Village Life at it's Most Entertaining

I just finished Dr Coleman's 5th book in his North Devon village (fictional) tales and loved every minute of it. Someone mentioned she felt reading the Bilbury Chronicles was like eating really good chocolates that you want to savour and I do so agree with her. Delicious.

Lovely country story

I liked the story very much. It's exactly like all the others. If you liked them you'll like this one. Interesting that after the baby's born he didn't mention him again till the very end.

Not as good as the first four books in the series. Rather disappointed.
