Nathalie Carter wants one thing: independence. She has paid her dues by living at home under her parents’ watchful eyes, earning grades to give her a ticket out and joining clubs she had no interest in to get into college. She plans to experience things she believes every new adult should—from falling in love to playing beer pong and pulling an all-nighter to skipping class because she’s too hungover. But nothing ever seems to go as planned, and she gets pulled into a world she never imagined existed.
Samuel Torrington’s past refuses to release him from its vise-like grip; but he has a plan, and once his senior year of college is over, he can finally move away and start anew. His addictions help him get through day-to-day life, but he’s constantly battling darker demons.
Fate brings the two together, and chance takes them on a roller coaster ride that neither would dare hop off. Within destiny’s grasp, they realize there are two things impossible to fight—addiction and attraction.
A college student in her small town in Connecticut, Taylor loves everything having to do with literature. She is an avid reader, a blogger, a writer- obviously, and a reviewer. Her favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, young adult, and romance.
Natalie is excited about her first year of college. Her own apartment and freedom from her parents. She is pretty much a good girl, doesn't party much and gets good grades. Until she meet Sam. Sam is a few addictions that get him through his daily life. He has a tragic past he is trying to escape while trying to walk a straight line. However the pressure proves to much for him and he gives into this addictions.
The concept of this book was pretty good. I was a little disappointed in Sam's character. He had the makings to be a really strong character, but in the end turned out to be the weakest one in the book. The ending of the book completely surprised me. I won't go into to many details, don't want to ruin it for everyone, but I felt it should have been reversed. It seems like being good and supportive gets you nowhere. I did enjoy Natalie's character. She was strong and really fought for Sam while he refused to fight for him self. My other favorite character was Pete, I would of loved to see more of him in the book.
I fell in love with Taylor's writing when I read the first book in her Curse Books. When I opened this book I wasn't positive what would be waiting on the other side for me, but I was certain it would be a reading adventure. Taylor didn't disappoint.
I love/hate the characters. Is that possible? I don't know. But I do! I hate how naive Natalie is and I hate how self-destructive Sam is. But I love them. I love that Nat will go and look for the good in everyone- the true result of not having her own independence before, I think. I love Sam when he's not being a total duche. I wish that he could be saved, ya know? He is so damn hard on himself.
This isn't one of those easy to stomach stories if you're sensitive to vocabulary or adult substances being tossed around with ease. Personally, I can read it all but I have no real life association to it, ya know? I've been a straight-edge my entire life so for me drug scenes and substance abuse is just stupid- what do they really think will happen if they stick the highly addictive thing into their body? I mean, really?! Okay, okay, I'm coming off my soapbox. Ignoring the fact that I obviously have a little bias when it comes to being stupid enough to use drugs in the first place, I think Taylor handles the storyline very well. I like how she uses Nat's obvious real-life nativity to Sam's "benefit" (not sure what I should call it), but Nat learns... she isn't just stuck in the land of make-believe where shit isn't hitting the fan. Nope, she comes back from it with knowledge.
This is a real story. That doesn't mean that all stories aren't real, but Taylor bases this one in a real world, with real problems... namely drugs and the world that falls apart around them. She doesn't force the world into a shades of pink. There is no perfect solution for the bad crap that goes down, but there is some good.
If you enjoy gritty stories and don't mind some swearing or drug abuse, dive in. Taylor is a great author and I'm always glad to read what she's putting out!
I'll kick off the ratings, even though I don't count :) This book is completely, and I really do mean completely, different than my Curse Books series. It deals with tough issues like addiction and dependence. Don't expect a light romance where everyone is happy all the time and the characters fall right into love and live happily ever after because that's not what this book is. Of course there's love and romance, it couldn't be a romance novel without it! But there's much more to this story than just hooking up and college love. I hope you have a fun ride with Samuel and Nathalie. They're two of my favorite characters and I hope you enjoy their story!
Wow this was a hard one to read. I found myself yelling at Sam for being so week and yelling a Nat for being so naive. But she just didn't give up on Sam. Oh my god I just wanted them overcome the tragedy and make it. But it was so hard. My heart aches right now and I just don't know what to say or do. Wow to think how a person can love someone so hard and still it's not enough. While a person that just wants to be loved keeps falling down that same dark hole. I will have to play candy crush the rest of night to let go of this broken heart of mine!
Eighteen-year-old Nathalie Carter is ready to begin her college life as an independent woman. Privileged and living under the roof of demanding parents, she welcomes both a change of scenery and routine.
College senior Sam Torrington is haunted by a past that involves addiction and heartache. Plagued by his misfortunes, he is determined to finish college and move away. However, on the back burner, he reprimands himself by thinking he isn’t good enough to experience a life of happiness.
A chance meeting between Nathalie and Sam strikes up an instant friendship. Soon, neither can imagine a life without the other in it. As their relationship turns from friendship to more, Nathalie discovers Sam doesn’t just have a cigarette addiction. Under the constant scrutiny of his friend Frank, Sam moves to harder drugs, solidifying his former demons have always had a hold on him. Nathalie sees the good in Sam and wants the best for him. But, will her love be enough to make him quit?
This story made me feel every emotion possible. The way Ms. Lavati is able to take such a difficult theme and present it in a way that is both realistic and thought provoking is a sign of a talented writer. A Reliant Love is definitely not your average story of addiction and despair. It is a triumphant tale of needing someone for support and love.
As much as I loved this story, I want a sequel to answer all the lingering questions I had while reading. This includes closure for the secondary characters. Also, even though it didn’t sway my review, there are way too many grammatical mistakes throughout the novel. A better editor would improve this story’s reading, as I was often distracted by the errors.
Despite the ups and downs I experienced while reading this novel, I definitely recommend it for every reader who desires an angsty change from the norm.

A Reliant Love by Taylor Lavati is a standalone new adult dark romance that alternates point of view between Nathalie Carter and Samuel Torrington.
On the side of the light, we have Nathalie Carter, a girl who strives for independence from her overbearing parents. She leaves home for college in search of a new world—one where she can make all the mistakes every new adult faces. But as luck should have it, she gets exactly what she wants, and she’s pulled into a world she never imagined existed.
On the side of dark, we have Samuel Torrington, a man who can’t escape the white knuckle grip of his past. After discovering that he can’t stay home and survive the day-to-day battle that is living with his mistakes, he devises a plan: he’ll run away. After graduation, he decides he’ll move and start anew. He underestimates his ability to walk away from everything—or, maybe, someone—he encounters in his home town.
Fate brings the two together, and chance takes them on a roller coaster ride that neither would dare hop off. Within destiny’s grasp, they realize there are two things impossible to fight—addiction and attraction.
Lavati effortlessly weaves lies with love and treachery with truth. Her tale will make you fall in love, while simultaneously breaking your heart. You’ll fight for Nathalie and Sam’s relationship, and you’ll pray for them to simply make it out alive. Lavati’s novel hits home for many, as it meshes themes into a seemingly perfect ensemble.
But Lavati’s true power is in her ability to provide enough detail to bring the reader in deep enough to question their own life.
I received this book for free through a Goodreads First Reads giveaway. I rated this book 2 stars, meaning "It was OK." With as much partying and skipping classes as these college students are doing, I don't really think it is possible that a pre-vet major could get passing grades. The main character Nathalie was extremely naive and immature, and it didn't make sense that her once overbearing parents would just send her off to college with nary a visit to follow. As for Sam, he was very hard on himself for obvious reasons, although it took until page 200 to understand the true relationship between Sam and Pete. Maybe this book is not meant for a 40 something year old reader like myself. I found it quite disgusting how easily this girl chose to make bad personal choices just because her boyfriend did. The ending was also very abrupt. It is sad if this is really going on at our nation's colleges... who is financing the use of all these drugs and alcohol? Nathalie is supposedly a beautiful smart girl...she could probably get any college guy she wants, but chooses to waste time with an addict. A sad story about how these college age kids don't seem to have much motivation or care about their careers or futures, and instead only about how they feel today and the quickest way to numb any bad feelings.
WOW! Emotional, edgy, sometimes dark but true to life and I was hooked. Nathalie Carter is a freshman, moving into her own place, off campus, to finally gain some independance away from her parents clutches. She wants to experience college parties, guys and classes whilst hungover. All paid for with her own money, saved from her job growing up. Moving into her own place the day before starting college has Nathalie all sorts of stressed out. As a person who hates to be late, the next day she’s undeniably feeling harrassed at not being able to find somewhere to park, leaving her late for her first class. Upon rushing to get there, she stumbles and cuts up her knees. Nathalie is upset, that is until the sexiest man she has ever seen appears and helps her up. Sam Torrington is all kinds of messed up. He hates his life and where he is at. He just wants to finish his last year of college and get away from this town and all the people around him. Trying to run away from a past that will forever haunt him. Until Sam can get away, he relies on drugs to just keep him numb and unfeeling. Unable to think about the things that haunt him. Sam see’s Nathalie stumble, upon helping her up there is an instant connection. Sam knows he is bad knews and should keep away from innocent Nathalie, but his heart and his mouth just aren’t in agreement with each other and he ends up asking her out to breakfast. Nathalie doesn’t understand why one of her new best friends tries to tell her to keep away from Sam and why Sam appears to anger and disgust him. There’s clearly something that has happened in the past. As things progress between Nathalie and Sam, Pete just can’t let it go, telling her to keep away from addict, loser Sam. Too late. Nathalie has fallen hard and fast. She’s left wondering though, why exactly does Pete harbour so much hatred for Sam? What has gone down between the love of her life and her best friend? Will Nathalie come to regret finding out? I think the fact that Taylor wrote the story from Sam and Nathalie’s points of view earns big bonus points for this book. Reading of Sam’s struggles and determination to kick the drugs himself, naively ignoring the hold he knows addiction can have on you. From Nathalie’s point of view, reading that she thinks she can help Sam on her own. That her love is enough to help him overcome his addiction. Yes some people reading may think ” What a naive girl ” but when you think about it hard, and with the help of Taylor’s emotional story, a lot of people probably think their love alone is enough to help in real life. Not realising how hard it actually is to fight. Especially if you haven’t faced addiction yourself, your blind to how strong that pull to whatever the addiction is to, is. A Reliant Love portrays the struggles of everyday real life perfectly in my eyes. It’s heartbreaking but real and is suprisingly refreshing to read. The characterization of Sam really pulled at my heartstrings and I just wanted to reach into the book, give him a huge squeeze and try to help him myself. I loved Nathalie, at first she comes across as so young and slightly immature but throughout the story, she grows into a tough, determined little lady. I routed for her throughout, wanting her love to be enough to help Sam. We are treated to a lengthy story from Taylor. The pacing is right on par with the descriptive flow of the story. Smoothly done throughout. I was at the end before I knew it. It was destined to be a long book to assist in understanding the angst and turmoil Sam and Nathalie endured. This story is totally full of feels. Humour, guilt, love, deceipt, despair, anger, like I said it’s full. Literally an emotional rollercoaster, but one that you don’t want to get off of. I can’t imagine how Taylor managed to write such a heartfelt story! I would be a big blubbering mess. The ending totally knocked my legs from right under me. I did not expect that ending one bit! Now if you will excuse me…… I’m off to read Finding Sam. Book #2 in the A Reliant Love series. Thanks for a great read Taylor :-)
Taylor Lavati’s A Reliant Love is a novel about young adults, presumably targeted at young adults. Her writing is tight and pacy; she is fully in control of the style she has chosen; and her overall approach is ideally suited to the characters, the action and the plot. She understands how young people think and behave. Her short, snappy sentences and YA vocabulary give the whole an authentic feel. The characters are well drawn and considerable skill is expended in reproducing their thought processes and behaviours. The author, too, uses an interesting and effective technique to acquaint us with the two main protagonists, each chapter in turn reflecting the perspective of one or the other, allowing us to see how outer actions as perceived by one character do not reflect at all the inner working of that character's mind.
I cannot, therefore, fault Lavati’s writing, but her characters in the main, even those who are presented as attractive, come cross as amoral, drink and drug addicted, and absorbed by sex. This is probably par for the course in the milieu in which the story is set but it is not calculated to inspire empathy. Nathalie is naïve and somewhat empty headed but Sam is more complex. Why he chooses to live his life in conditions that are appalling with friends who are feckless and obnoxious, especially when he is clearly aware off this, indicates how convoluted and confused his psyche is.
I have no doubt that ‘cool’ YAs will love this book but, while I appreciate the writer’s skill in bring this little world to life, I found Nathalie’s vacuous naïveté somewhat irritating, and Sam’s constant self-flagellation and self-imposed embargo on anything that might lead to happiness, ultimately tiresome. I sense that, since none of the characters are particularly appealing, the author has willed this to drive home her underlying message that if you do drugs, drink yourself silly and engage in casual sex, you can say goodbye to normal life, normal relationships, normal love.
This story, or perhaps the conduct of the characters in the story, may not be to everyone’s taste but I have to award the book four stars for the effectiveness of the writing and the quality of the story-telling.
It’s one of the best reads that we have ever had the privilege of reading.
You will meet Sam.
Twenty two years old who has a tortured soul. He’s broken, believing he never deserves happiness or to feel any kind of emotion. He doesn’t deserve it. His world is dark like it should be. He needs to pay for his actions, never to be forgiven by those he hurt most. He deserves their stares, their hatred.
But what happens when he meets her for the first time?
She’s stunning, innocent, pure. There is nothing in this world he wants most than her.
Her name.
Nathalie.
For Nathalie it’s instant chemistry. She’s drawn to him. She wants to get to know him. She needs to. She’ll never give up until he belongs to her.
Will Sam allow his secrets from his past to dictate his future? Can Sam ever allow himself to feel again? Can Nathalie break down the walls that Sam continues to keep up? Can Nathalie be Sam’s light, taking him away from the darkness that’s plagued him for years?
All these questions will be answered in this must read novel.
We were absolutely captivated from the very first page. Page after page turned we were taken on a roller-coaster of emotions. We laughed, we cried, we held our breath. We felt the hurt and unexplainable pain that Sam was feeling. We felt the love and hope that Nathalie hoped to share with Sam. We felt the darkness slowly slip away, only to be taken back to the depths of hell. We just simply felt.
An absolutely heart wrenching read that shows us that at times no matter how much we hope, darkness will find its way to win. That no matter how much we try to make right a wrong guilt will always win. That no matter how hard we try to forget our nightmares from our past they will always invade us.
To Taylor Lavati, what you have produced with A Reliant Love is nothing short of absolute 5 star brilliance. We as readers/bloggers cannot thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to read and review this stunning novel and allowing us into Sam and Nathalie’s lives.
A HUGE emotionally charged, confronting and raw 5 star read.
A Reliant Love is a totally different read than my typical Happily Ever After giggly school girl romance, but it still resonated deeply in my heart causing me to willingly ride one emotional roller coaster of a ride enjoyed each and every up and down the lives in this book threw at me. Nathalie is on her own for the first time and thrilled to be away from her over protective, sugar coating, typical parents and living life for herself for the very first time. Instantly connecting with troubled, wild partying college senior Sam, she experiences love, heartache, reality of life, and emotions she never expected. Their relationship brings out the best and the worst in each other.
If you are looking for a bubble gum story, this isn't the book for you. However, if you are looking for a romance that is dark, gritty, real and thought provoking I can tell you that you won't find another as good as this one. Lavati has a way with her storytelling that is unlike any other. This author can write anything from Happily Ever Afters, paranormal thrillers, to dark romances that tug on your heart strings. She is definitely an author to follow and be reading!
so I finished this book a few hours ago and just about now I can write my review. I got an arc of this book for an honest review.
The relationship between Nat and Sam is going on a fest road and at first I didn't like it but then I understood it. Nat is so young and naïve and so freaking sweet that she instantly love, hate, hurt and her emotion are so strong. I could emphasize with her because her goal is fixing the world and sometimes I do too. I was and still shocked from the end. I didn't consider that it could be. Sam is not the loveable-charming hero like other books he is a real character with real issues and thoughts. I cant say that I don't love him a bit but I cant say I'm in love with him either but he has a little magic that lures you to keep reading.
in addition the book has a education value about "don't do drugs" and I love it
I don’t read many books in this genre but when I saw that it was by Taylor Lavati I knew I had to read it. You see Taylor has become another one of my favorite authors of all time so that means I want to read everything they have ever written no matter what the genre is. The first book by Taylor I read was The Last Legacy: Season One and let me tell you I fell in love with it and her writing. It was one of the best books I have ever read! Oh but this is not a review about The Last Legacy it is a review about A Reliant Love.
Although this is not a genre I read very often I do like it and need a change from zombies and dystopian once in a while. But when you have a great author the genre is not important or nor does it matter. A Reliant love is awesome read and Taylor will have your emotions running all over the place. Not only are your emotions going haywire but you are as well. Taylor writes in such a way that she will pull you into A Reliant Love right from the first word and won’t let go until the last word has been written and will leave you wanting more and more and more…..
Nathalie Carter is a young woman who has just left home for the first time and can’t wait to start her new life at college without her parents telling her what to do. For the first time in her life she will be alone and can do what she wants and with having to ask permission from anyone. Nathalie plans on getting her degree and starting a new life for herself somewhere down the road but in the mean time she plans on doing a littler partying and hopefully find a boyfriend along the way. Nathalie is a very good girl with a very big heart who likes to help people if she can.
Nathalie has a hard time trusting people though after her boyfriend in high school betrayed her. But she is determined not to let that get in her way of enjoying life and just having a good time or being happy. So when she runs into Sam a senior who just wants to finish up his last year and get on with his life and out of that town to boot all she wants to do is spend every waking minute with him. Sam and Nathalie have an instant attraction for each other but Sam has a lot of baggage that he is caring around that may just get in their way of being happy and together. The only way he can handle it is by tuning to drugs. When Nathalie looks into Sam’s eyes she sees something good in him and wants to help him. But she soon realizes that her love alone cannot help Sam.
I loved reading A Reliant Love although I cried more times than I can count. A Reliant Love is a very heartwarming read but at the same time it will rip your heart right out of your chest or so you think. Taylor Lavati is such an awesome writer that she pulls you right into Nathalie and Sam’s world making you feel as if you are a part of it and that you are traveling down all their roads with them. The ending blew me away I never, never, never saw that one coming in a million years. You know I hated it but you know it was so awesome. Endings like that are what make for a great book. I can’t wait to read the next book Finding Sam. If you have not read A Reliant Love then I would definitely suggest that you do.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book.
Well, damn. From the very first page, this book had me. It held my attention, emotions and just totally gripped me. I'm really struggling with how to write this review, I just absolutely loved everything about it. It's definitely an emotional roller-coaster, I laughed so hard at the banter and the humour in the book, but at the same time it had me in tears throughout the characters troubles and struggles.
Nathalie and Sam aren't your average couple, that's for sure! I've never read a book quite like this, and that's another reason it's a must read! Nat is full of life, she's an uplifting person naturally, carefree and happy. Sam is quite the opposite, he's plagued by his past demons, and seems to hold so much hate for himself, thinking he's unworthy of any positive influence. As much as I loved the romance element, I also just adored the friendships in the book, all of the characters were so detailed and full of personality, I could literally picture all of them in every scene written. I won't go into details about the story, as there's the synopsis and I hate giving spoilers, but holy crap, it's definitely an unpredictable read!
This was the first book I've read by this author, but after this, she's definitely one I will always look out for! I can't wait for 'Finding Sam', and for reading this very talented authors other books! Highly recommend this book!
This was a pretty awesome book, there were some twists and turns and a little angst, some melt your heart moments and heartbreaking truths. Sam reminds me a little of Travis Maddox in a way. Probably the tough exterior that hides a reluctant heart. He's afraid to let love in because he deems that actions in the past means he does not deserve love or anything good in his life really.
There is some Drug related content, like in the previous book I reviewed. It is not sugar coated, the cost or consequences of drug addiction and how it is a ripple effect that affects everyone around that person.
There are some secrets in this book and they are gradually revealed in a way that keeps you interested to know more about Sam and Nathalie and how these secrets affect their relationship. The pacing is pretty good and there were only a couple of times that I thought it needed to go faster but that's not the author's fault it's mine for being an impatient reader haha. I really enjoyed the dual POV it helped the story out to see things from Sam's POV and then Nathalie's As their relationship deepens so does Sam's drug addiction which leads to a lot of ups and downs for the couple. The ending of the book was pretty close to an ugly cry for me, it was too intense and once I had an inkling on what was going to happen I had to put the book down for an hour before I read the final pages. I want to know how Sam's story continues in the next book to see what happens next.
*ARC REVIEW FROM ABIBLIOPHOBIA ANONYMOUS BOOK REVIEWS BLOG*
Nathalie is a freshman and just stepped out of her own. Living by herself, trying to to figure out who she is and what life has in store for her, and boy will she soon figure it out.
" You bring life to my death."- Sam
Sam is a person who has lost his self. He's a recovering addict, who his past is sitting on his shoulders. He has plan's, get out of this town and never look back, but when a Freshman falls at his feet, everything will forever be changed.
"He’s like a drug to me. I’m in pain when we aren’t together. Without his touch, I go through withdrawal until I get my next hit of him."- Nathalie
I'm super torn with this book. Nathalie is a charter you can't help but love. She shines. Sam, I really can't stand him. He put Nat through so much and all she wanted to do was love and help him, but in the end the house of card's comes tumbling down. He's a charter you love to hate. A Reliant Love is a duel POV. We get both Nat and Sam's side, we see what makes them struggle, we get it all. Their relationship is just like Sam's addiction, they can't get enough and in the end it that love that turns everything upside down.
The story was good, it flowed, but I feel as if this one book could of been put into two books. 64 chapters, it's long and you start forcing yourself to finish it. And that is what turned me off, but right at the end it gets you, messes you up and pisses you off.
This book broke me. I'm seriously in tears right now writing this review. my heart hurts, my stomach is in knots. I just WOW. This was a book of rollercoaster emotions from the start. In the beginning Nathalie is a bit naive but she knows what she wants and she will take it any way she can get it even if it only means a friendship. Sam has not had an easy life after a major accident when he was 16 hes been on the straight and narrow and working on getting his degree to get out of town and away from all the old memories.
This book I do not even know the words to describe it or what else to say without giving anything away. Their relationship not only brings out the best in them but also the worst. So many times I wanted to just beat the crap out of Sam and tell him to get his head out of his rear end and man up. He frustrated me to no end. My heart broke so many times for Nathalie and after that ending I dont think it will be repaired for awhile.
Many many props to Taylor Lavati for an incredibly gritty, emotional, and real life event story that will have you sucked in and leave you heartbroken.
I received a copy of this book from the author and I loved it so much that I had to write a review!
Sometimes there are stories that make you feel so much that even when they hurt, you still can’t put them down. These stories suck you in and make you feel a part of them – you become the main character, the protagonist, even the narrator. You’re no longer just reading a story, you’re living an experience.
And that’s when you know that you’re reading a truly amazing story.
This is what happened when I read A RELIANT LOVE and then FINDING SAM by Taylor Lavati. Two books that are intrinsically connected, these are two stories that need to be read together and need to be read in order. Individually both are great stories that will reach inside and grab on tight. Together these stories leave you gutted, heartbroken and then mended, healed. Whole.
I emphatically recommend both A RELIANT LOVE and FINDING SAM to everybody!
Oh man! I don't even know where to begin with this review. Since the feelings are what's left, so overwhelming, so varied, maybe I should start there. This book will reach deep into your heart & wring the emotions out of it. There will be anger, there will be amazement, there will be smiles, & there will be tears. Oh, will there be tears. But, while this story did include love, it is a bit of a romance, it's also about temptation, emotions & the fact that we don't always understand them nor can we control them. It's about finding yourself & losing yourself, time & again. At least for Sam. It's about confusion & weakness, clarity & strength. And the way, sometimes all of those intermingle, creating a never ending circle. It's also a story about sacrifice, and the rarest form of love: unconditional. And, the greatest thing of all is that Taylor expresses all of this in such a way that you're drawn in, you're invested, & when it's over you'll feel both whole and incomplete. Well done, Taylor!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. Taylor Lavati has created a great story that takes a look at what one possible scenario of new adult college life can be. Lavati has created strong characters that have interesting connections. It is great to be a reader following along and seeing those connections develop and then finding the back story that goes with them. I found Nathalie's character to be the kind of girl I wanted to be at that age in many respects. Sam is haunted by his past and until meeting Nat he has been wallowing in it while alternately trying desperately to avoid it. The ways in which he tries to avoid his dark and mysterious past are varied and make for a realistic romance book. Nat has two good friends at her side in this tale, her friend Cindy and her new neighbor Pete, a senior, at her university. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to other readers.
I have whiplash from this book all the goings on. What a story!
I hate Sam but love him, he is one messed up man and needs a kick up his bum. I really just wanted to smack him he was so annoying, but! He was sweet. Nathalie really got on my nerves I wanted to shake her and tell her to wake up and smell the roses. Again but! I can see why she did what she did she loved Sam. this story's subject is hard one it's about drugs. Most people live this story every day.
The two main characters Sam and Nathalie are the most annoying characters I've ever read, but I did enjoy this book I had to keep reading to find out what was happening next. The story is like a whirlwind, it's told from two pov Sam and Nathalie. There's no HEA this book is going to make you mad I'm still sitting in shock of what I've just read.
It seems to be a constant theme this week to read rip-your-heart-out romances instead of the normal dark romances. Seems I have found another author that can do the perfect job in butchering my heart. When this happens I usually take a break and try to cool off. But I am on a schedule for these reviews, so that means I will be picking up the next book and reading it. Hopefully, the next one has some kind of HEA, because at this point I am really needing one.
I have never done drugs or had any type of addiction. So it was a little harder to connect with the character and everything that was going on. But I still had the feels which is pretty impressive since I only get upset with the books I can connect too. I don't know what else to say about this book except it is not for the faint of heart. Next up is Finding Sam.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is just fantastic. it is well written from 2 very different perspectiv and it gives the reader a good insight of the feeling and the story.
This is one of the best love stories I have read but also on of the sadest. I did cry in the end. I also think I am one of the few who DONT hate Sam but maybe that is because I know what he feels and how hard it is. I am Sam, or at least almost. I have been there and dont that too many times and maybe that is why this book touches me the way it does.
I really enjoyed it and loves it so much. I can really recoomend the book and I hope a lot of my friend will read it. This is more than a love story, this is a book about how it is to grow up with and aroudn addiction and about an adult life that is far from perfect.
Let me start by saying that this is not your typical good girl tames the bad boy book. I spent most of this book with my heart in my stomach. I was taken on such a rollercoaster of emotions that I think Taylor Lavati may owe me a Tshirt. I found my self yelling at these characters, Nat for being so dang naive and Sam for just being an Idiot. If are looking for dark and gritty this book is for you! Yet I still found myself rooting for them to get their act together. Lavati writes about adiction in such a real way it isn't pretty and she does not sugar coat it. I absolutely loved this book and am excited to read the next one. Taylor has definitely gained a new fan and i will be following her and reading her other books ASAP!!!!!!
This was a wonderful read. I loved how it was such a page turner. So much happens in this book, but it's enough to understand and keep the reader wanting more at the same time. I love how Taylor writes about an every day occurrence like addiction and drug use. She also mixes college in and gives you an amazing ride through real life. Follow Nathalie as she goes to college and gets pulled into some tough situations. Follow Samuel as he tries to overcome his past and leave it all behind him. But when that doesn't work, he tries to juggle his addiction and his relationship. This book made me happy and sad at the same time. But overall it was an amazing read and I highly recommend it.
A Reliant Love is a Story of Nathalie who wants to live an independent life and enjoy college and Sam who is running from his Painful Past and drug addict. Nathalie and Sam worlds are different and Sam tries staying away from Nat. He thinks that he doesn't deserve to be given second chance and being happy. But Nat is determined to make Sam Clean and understand that he have to trust her while leaving his past behind.
A Reliant Love was a Page turner. You get hooked from Beginning to end. Taylor Lavati knows how to create amazing characters and grabs your attention. The Sequel to A Reliant Love is also coming soon. I Would Definitely Recommend everyone to read this amazing series.
A Reliant Love is a good read. Nathalie is beginning her life as a college student. She is finally out from her demanding parents and ready to live a little. Nathalie is a great character. Sam is just wow. Sam is as sexy mess. Sam is something i n his past haunting him. He uses drugs to keep his demons at bay. Their paths cross when they have a class together. They are attracted to each other but their is also a lot of tension. I was routeing for them. The ending was crazy. I was in disbelief at it and had to read it over again. A Reliant Love is a tear jerking emotional read.
I absolutely loved this book. Taylor's writing style really sucks you into this story of the darker side of life. Most people love to read about happily ever afters and lighthearted love story, but that isn't what life is like. I always say ignorance is bliss. And to read this novel about how life is really like is just amazing. Don't take my word for it, don't read these reviews. Read the book yourself, and you will see the struggles of these characters and feel what they feel. You won't regret it.
