Identity is a shared experience. A dialogue, a never ending sequence of broadcast and response. We present and we reflect. Communication runs to and fro, until an image coalesces. Overtime, with practice, that becomes our Image. That becomes us. It's who we are, what we do, the subtle norms that govern behavior and it fits like a second skin. A social the investment of a lifetime.
I grew up in Ireland but settled in England a lifetime ago, after meeting my wife and her cats. We run an IT company together which keeps us informed of developments in the Mobile Phone, Insurance, Banking, Transportation, Education, Intelligence and Nuclear Industries. This work experience feeds into my thinking about near-future and fantasy Science Fiction worlds.
This is a very short book, only eight pages. I feels like a prologue to me and I would love for it to turned into a full length novel. It's a great premise for a full story.
The author does a good job of quickly explaining how we can learn new things but that we still can't forget or unlearn our basic instincts.
