Fairly unimpressive due to the fact that these patterns are on the simpler side of stitch patterns, and I've seen the majority of these in other stitch dictionaries. While these are charted as other Japanese stitch patterns are, this seems more like an "intro to Western stitch patterns" for Japanese knitters rather than actual, Japanese stitch patterns like we see in Hitomi Shida's works.
The photographs and charts are very clear and this would by all means be a great introductory stitch dictionary for newer knitters, but it doesn't match the variety and complexity that other Japanese stitch dictionaries have.
This book is as well-organized as her Japanese Knitting Stitch Bible, and the lace and the cable stitch combinations are truly beautiful. That said, much of the stitch patterns alone aren’t particularly different from other stitch dictionaries, and likely overlaps what’s already in a knitter’s own library. However, the combos would be worth having, especially the lace, for the $19 or so price tag. There are so many charts, it’s worth owning.
