In our current times, it is easy to get distracted by the temptations o of the material world. The never-ending competition of acquiring fame and ostentation may blur one's purpose in life. Acquiring the knowledge of deen is important when aiming to reorient life matters. One of the best ways to do that is to find the company of those who remind us of Allah.
Through the Lens of Iman is a compilation of enlightening and thoughtful speeches of Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. This short book aims to draw our attention to the ordinary matters of everyday life and how one can increase one's consciousness according to the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.
Alhamdulillah, I was blessed with the opportunity to be the translator of this work. The book, which is actually a of collection of Shaykh Usmani's speeches will Insha'Allah benefit its readers. It is not released yet. It is expected to be released in a few months Insha'Allah.
Abeer Arain’s translation of “Through the Lens of Iman” by Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani is a beautifully written and deeply insightful book that offers practical spiritual guidance for today’s world. What stood out to me most is the clarity and conciseness of the writing—each chapter serves as a quick but powerful reminder of how to stay steadfast on the straight path, even amidst the distractions and challenges of modern life.
The author masterfully weaves together timeless wisdom from Allah’s revelation in the Qur’an and Hadith from prophet Muhammad (Alyhi salaaty wasalaam) with the real-life issues Muslims and all of humanity face today. This makes the book not only spiritually uplifting but also incredibly relevant. The way he contextualizes Islamic teachings in light of contemporary struggles makes the guidance feel both accessible and immediately applicable. For example, I love the chapters about wealth; the Islamic wisdom of approaching wealth allows for humans to enjoy worldly wealth in a balanced way- forbids wasting it, showing off or allowing it to rule your innate being; but also allows the individual to not deny themselves from benefiting their bodies, their families and communities.
In addition, what I especially appreciated is how the book doesn’t just speak to the intellect but also touches the heart. It reminds the reader of the importance of sincerity, patience, and trust in Allah, while grounding these concepts with the Quran, Hadith and wisdom from great scholars and the learned. Whether you’re looking for spiritual motivation, a renewed sense of purpose, or practical reminders to keep your iman strong, this book is a must-read.
I highly recommend ‘Through the Lens of Iman’ to anyone seeking clarity and connection in their faith.
So grateful to have read this book as it is an instant imam booster! I can vouch for this as I read it at a time when my iman was at a low and really helped shift from looking at things from a ‘duniya’ perspective to an ‘akhira’ perspective. This is an amazing work sprinkled with verses from the quran and captivating anecdotes from the authors life that really makes one reflect on their current state of iman. Being that this is a translation, id like to make a special mention to the translator of this book who has does an excellent job ensuring the essence of the text is conveyed. Highly recommend this book to all those needing a refocus on the true purpose of life!
