The blurb of this book had me hooked. The first few pages of the story had me reading well past my bedtime.

It tells of a lost love between three people (so more of a why choose theme.) and how they will be reunited, time after time.

Phoenyx, Benjamin and Alyson are mages, and dark forces are seeking to destroy them…. In a bid to save his lovers, Benjamin stays behind so the others can escape, but he promises them that he will find them again one day, and they will be reunited forever.

Phoenyx, Benjamin and Alyson are reunited in Boston centuries later. Although their names of Phoenyx, Benjamin and Alyson are the same, they’ve been shortened to Ben, Ali and Nyx.

Ali and Ben go to the same college but don't know one another yet.
Ali and Nyx flirt in a bar, but don’t exchange names.
Nyx and Ben are roommates.
Ben gave him a place to live and a job, he works the bar under the apartment.

It’s a fast paced action story. I really liked the premise, the fact these three people find each other time and again. Their love is strong and persists even though it’s ended time and again! I like the fact they don’t instantly know one another, but there is a spark, and that’s what keeps them interested. I like the snippets of past memories coming to them when they are with one another.

Benjamin is definitely the boss in this trio, although Alyson is the center of their world. All three connect separately, and it’s amusing to watch Ali be courted by both Nyx and Ben, but neither know it. Yet!

And the dark forces that hunt this trio. Well, they are onto them again!
Can Ali/Ben and Nyx conquer the darkness and win this time? 🤐

There is plenty of world building, and characters are fully fleshed out. I could clearly see where this story was going, what I didn’t count on was the twists and turns that were thrown at the trio.
Definitely a fated mates trope. (Which I absolutely love.)

The dialogue and speech was a little off putting (just felt awkward and misplaced!)
I did like the banter/chemistry and general feeling of friendship/family the main characters gave off.

If you love magic/romance and a love that will conquer even time, then this book is definitely for you.

Word of warning ….. CLIFFHANGER ENDING!

But I’m definitely grabbing the next instalment, I want to know what happens next.

Awakened by Artemis Gordon is an enthralling blend of magic, romance, and destiny, delivering a high-stakes story of love and power that spans lifetimes. With a compelling premise and rich world-building, this novel is a captivating read for fans of supernatural fantasy.

The central trio of mages, bound by an ancient curse that ensures they are reborn together in every lifetime, creates an intriguing dynamic that adds depth to both the romance and the plot. Their relationships—filled with tension, passion, and an unshakable connection—are the heart of the story, making every twist feel personal and impactful. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their emotional struggles are beautifully woven into the larger battle they must face.

The world-building is immersive, with necromancers rising from the shadows and a centuries-old mystery that must be unraveled. The way magic is tied to their past lives and the threats they face keeps the tension high, making the stakes feel real and urgent. Gordon’s ability to mix fast-paced action with moments of deep emotional resonance ensures that the story remains engaging throughout.

However, there are moments where the pacing feels uneven—some sections rush through key developments, while others linger a bit too long. A deeper exploration of individual character arcs, particularly their past lives and how they influence their present choices, would have made the emotional weight of the story even stronger.

Despite this, Awakened is an addictive, spellbinding read filled with romance, mystery, and magic. Gordon crafts a compelling tale of love that defies time, with a trio of unforgettable characters fighting against dark forces that threaten their very existence. If you love stories of fated lovers, powerful magic, and the battle between good and evil, this book is a must-read!

I received an ARC of this novel and I am choosing to leave my honest review. I want to start off by saying that I cannot wait to read the next books of this series! The ending of Awakened by Artemis Gordon has me questioning and wanting to know more.

Back to the beginning of this novel, I did not fancy the prologue. I found it a bit difficult to keep up with and immerse myself in due to the overuse of ellipses. Thankfully this was only the case for the prologue, as all chapters following that had better use of punctuation and much less overuse and/or unnecessary use of the ellipsis. One minor aspect I did not exactly like is that there were a handful of given opportunities for backstory to create better character depth and to smoothen the semi rushed pace of the novel, yet they were not utilized. I would have loved to see some of those shown further, even if that meant the novel being longer than it is.

Moving past the “bad” opinions, I did notice character growth among the three main characters. I'm sure more will be shown throughout the series, but in regard to the first novel itself, the growth of each character felt suitable. There was a good range of high intensity and lower intensity scenes, and each one led to the other nicely. As well as, the “spicy” scenes were written well and very in-depth, they were well placed and not too frequent which allowed for a proper plot / “smut” balance.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel! I wouldn’t say I’d reread it in a heartbeat, but I will be rereading it prior to the next books being published and I look forward to reading about Ali, Ben, and Nyx solving the new problem that has come up. At a solid 4 stars, I will be recommending this novel to reader friends and purchasing a paperback copy for my home bookshelf!

This was an ARC I received for my honest opinion *mild spoilers so be aware”.

A few good things I liked:
* The premise was there. 3 souls destined to find each other in every lifetime no matter what? The possibilities were endless. The timelines were endless!
* I loved how we started in the middle of the conflict before doing a time jump to “present day”. It was definitely chaotic which matched how I felt as a reader and wanting to understand what was happening.
* The Multi-POV was done well enough to where you didn’t get confused.
* Side Characters were charming.

A few things I didn’t like:
* The language should’ve changed when we timed jumped to one of their past lives. I didn’t like the modern language/speech when we’re supposed to believe it’s 457 A.D., that took me out of the story.
* The pacing. My goodness. Everything happened in the last couple chapters with like no space to breathe.
* There was a lot of info dumping.
* The conflict wasn’t fleshed out enough (in my opinion) for the villain to make sense prior to the “big confrontation”. She was stalking them yet only tried twice to try and take them out??
* I was actually looking forward to seeing Alyson as the lead in the showcase and wanted to see how she confronted Ben about putting her as the Black Cat lead without asking her.
* Phoenix/Nix name being switched constantly.
* The spice was okay. Didn’t really further the plot. Like were they all in love since the beginning? Does them being together sexually unlock a part of their power/memory?

Overall as a debut it wasn’t bad , just a few things here and there. Not sure if I would read the second book at this point.

The overall concept of this story is incredible. Three souls who unlock each other’s powers are destined to always find each other over time. I enjoyed the banter/arguing between the two MMC’s and appreciated that Ali, the FMC, was the balance.

The writing, especially at the beginning felt very young. Lots of it felt like a thesaurus was being held nearby to try to incorporate less commonly used words and that wasn’t needed. It did get better as time went on and it became more cohesive. The “stuttering” text and use of exclamation marks was overkill.

The overall plot took a pause to include multiple spicy scenes to build that bond between the characters and when it picked back up it wasn’t long before we were left with a cliffhanger. Given that this is only 275 pages that makes sense.

Because I actually want to know more about these characters and see where the story ends despite the technical flaws means a lot though. The story is great and I would definitely pick up the next installment.

If you love Harry Potter…you will love this book.

The story begins in 459 AD in England, where we are introduced to Phoenyx, Benjamin and Alyson.
They all have magical powers, they love eachother, so there is a love triangle.

Chapter One brings us to 1986 in Boston.
Ali and Ben go to the same college but don’t know eachother…they do meet and connect.
Phoenyx and Ben are roommates , Nyx works in the bar below the apartment, Ben gave him a place to live and the job.
Ali comes into the bar one night, she and Nyx connect.
They all connect again and the love triangle commences.

There is a higher force watching them, a bad energy that puts them in danger…they must come together rid the world of this higher energy.

I can not wait for Book 2

3.5⭐️ 3.5🌶

Let me say this. The plot was there. I wanted to see it go somewhere. I do believe it still could with a little bit of revisiting and revamping.

3 souls, no matter the time period, no matter the space between them. They will find each other. When they do find each other, their magic is something to fear. As their feelings grow, their magic grows. There are also those who don't want that to happen.

I feel the spice was forced. It didn't fit for me. As time went on, the plot sped up and thickened. I did want to know what happened. I didn't get enough. Too descriptive? If that's a thing. Not enough story. I'm interested in seeing the next one and hope that there will be a little more "meat" and less filler than this one.

I might be the odd ball out when it comes to ARC reading this book but I honestly loved it! The premise of 3 souls intertwined throughout time destined to find each other is right up my alley. The bond between the FMC and the two MMC is great and I loved the banter. This book has every checkmark checked honestly for a fantasy girlie like myself and the spice was on point! My only complaint would be that the terminology used in the modern time vs flashbacks to previous times wasn’t necessarily accurate. Otherwise it’s a great book, and I can’t wait to see what happens in the next installment!

I had the opportunity to read this as an ARC. I give my rating a 3.5, rounded up for goodreads. While I enjoyed the premise and idea. Was really fun and interesting. I felt the progression of the story was more romance and personal interaction based on the story. There are some parts of the book where it was sexual encounter after sexual encounter. While that is fine for some, it left me wanting more from the story and non romance plot. I truly loved the world building in the past memories and dreams. I also didn't like the Nyx and Phoenyx interchange. I thought we were talking about a different person when it first happened. I wanted more of them. Perhaps the cliffhangers will be explained in the future. If you like fast-paced reads and spice mixed with a little fantasy, then this is for you.

Thank you to the publisher and author for allowing me the chance to read before release.

Absolutely soul sucking! The emotions all throughout this book from the very first page. The angst. The drama. The love. The sacrifice is completely earth shatteringly good. Fated together but never able to win. Reliving everything over and over and starting over not remembering until you do in an endless cycles. Magic. Spice. Swoonworthy moment that leave you fanning yourself. A crushing love so deep that you ask yourself where do you find a love this strong? Don’t sleep on this book- Kerin Ray

Three together is power! I liked the book, but I was a little sad that it ended on a cliffhanger. I liked how Ben and Nyx developed an understanding despite their differences and found a solution that both of them agreed with. I liked that Ali didn't have to make a hasty decision, but was able to show her talents and bring them to light without fear.
I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy books in which good and evil have their say and fight for supremacy.

Awakened was a nice change of pace to my usual books! The way the different points of views flowed with each chapter, the slow integration of the different elements and events, and the interactions between the love interests. Some nice spice as well, but I like the spin on the story was surprising to say for sure. Even so, I really enjoyed the story and want to read more of Ali, Nyx, and Ben! I would definitely give this a read when you can.
