Step into the world of Cara, Buddy, Aimee, and Jed, known as The Pals, in a collection of fun-filled, adventurous tales where The Pals enjoy fishing, bug hunting, catching frogs, protecting a bird's egg, and baseball activities.
Meet Cory, an imaginative hummingbird, writer, and reporter who flits, flutters, and soars over The Pals as they work and play together. At the heart of each story, Cory witnesses and reports each meaningful event to Nana, who brings them to life in a three-book series called Nana's Heartwarming Tales.
Tiny Whispers is a delightful collection of five short family-oriented stories illustrating how gratitude, patience, thoughtfulness, contentment, and kindness weave outdoor adventures and tried-and-true virtues into friendship and empathy. The Pals help one another develop a deeper understanding of how to get along, turn everyday challenges into opportunities, and encourage Aimee to try new experiences who has low vision. These powerful messages will create hope and optimism in young readers' hearts.
Cory and Nana hope you will join them in spreading tiny whispers of love...one smile at a time.

Vicki Johnpeer is the author and illustrator of Nana’s Heartwarming Tales. Her writing inspiration came from 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, along with her teaching and camping memories. Vicki taught special education through the years, and each summer, her family took vacations near Mono Hot Springs, California. As her family hiked, fished, and swam, Vicki sketched and wrote stories while sitting on rocky granite ledges along the San Joaquin River and the remote High Sierra lakes. Vicki and her husband raise puppies for Guide Dogs for the Blind. They love camping in their home-built, teardrop camper or cozy 1984 Vanagon. She would love to hear from you. Tiny Whispers is a fun series of five stories following The Pals as they navigate life and each other through outdoor escapades to the Apple Orchard, Pollywog Lake, Buggy and Frog Ponds learning values along the way. I love Nana’s explanation of why these values are called Tiny Whispers!
The detail in the artwork on each page is amazing! There is so much for children (and adults) to discover withing these etchings, as they alone tell a story. The hummingbird Cory is a delightful narrator and it is fun to be able to find him on each page.
This is a great book to read with children – so much to engage with, whether it be to talk about the values in each story or what they see within the pictures on each page.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and looking at values portrayed through the eyes of the young characters. The children were very realistic in their behaviors (both good & bad) and it is presented in such a way that it makes you think about how these different scenarios should be handled and how they realistically might be handled with the frustrations and impatience of youth. We, even as adults, need reminders to slow down & show kindness, thankfulness & seeing & encouraging the good in others. I loved the stories as they were reported through the eyes of Cory, the hummingbird. I also enjoyed the brief educational information about the hummingbirds & the phoebe (two of my favorite birds). I believe Tiny Whispers will prove to be a fun and helpful book for families to share with their young children to help instill wonderful, never-out-of-style values.
The stories in this book detail interactive adventures of children and families as they navigate frustrations and challenges in life, revealing lessons about fundamental values that are indeed heartwarming. I liked the pencil sketches throughout the book as well as the questions for discussion provided for each story where each one has a section that says “Cory wonders and asks.” Yes I recommend this book to families. The stories will be enjoyed by children and their loved ones.
Tiny Whispers is a book about children learning some life lessons such as kindness, thoughtfulness, gratitude, and patience. It is an enjoyable read and educational for children. I especially like how the story was seen through the eyes of the group of children called the pals. Reminded me of my childhood experiencing and doing similar activities. I would highly recommend this book to families with young kids. Very heartwarming Tales.
I read these with my son and he loved them! Such fun stories of outdoor adventures. The lessons the pals learned as they went on these adventures were encouraging and entertaining. We loved the illustrations and he liked to find the hummingbird, Cory, in them. I think these are great stories for kids of all ages, but especially relatable for those in the elementary years.
