Oli

Hockey, my mother, and my best friend. That's what matters to me.

Then my best friend betrays me. My chances of getting signed on my dream team go up in smoke. My mother well - she didn’t live long enough to watch me claw my way back to the top.

Years later I have a new team, new friends, and a quiet home in the great state of Oregon.

It’s perfect.

Until Andre, my ex-best friend, is traded to the Otters and becomes our new goalie.

Now I’m stuck with him. Coach says I have to play nice but how can I do that when the man who tried to destroy my life is the person I have to defend on the ice? Just the sight of him sets me on fire. He messes with my head in ways I don’t want to linger on. I hate him so much I can’t think. We can’t stop fighting; we’re losing games left and right and okay maybe punching your own goalie for the entire world to see isn’t exactly proper hockey etiquette but who can blame?

This fire ignites us both.

I expect the flames to kill me.

What happens is much, much worse.

Andre

Once upon a time Oli Kulivov used to be my best friend.

Then he blamed me for something I had nothing to do with. Ever since then he’s hated me and you know what screw him if he thinks I could do that to him. While I want nothing more than to forget he exists but then things at home explode. I have to get out. I need a new team and the Oregon Otters are looking for a goalie.

This is my chance at freedom.

Being back in Kuli’s line of sight is a dangerous game, but what’s even more dangerous is the feeling deep in my gut I feel whenever I see him. Years later and I still feel that twist in my stomach whenever he’s around me. Our fighting is affecting the team. We just can’t stop. I should be afraid. I should keep my distance. I just can’t. Not when it’s so much fun to toy with the darkness in Oli’s blue eyes. I swear I didn’t get traded to the Otters to piss Oli off personally. That is just a happy bonus.

I want to see how far I can push him

When this spark between us ignites.

The inferno we’re trapped in changes everything.

These Wicked Games is the first book in the Wicked Sins series. It is a high-heat hockey romance based on the seven deadly sins. Andre and Oli’s book- WRATH is an enemies to lovers ex-best friends' romance.

I've only tried to read one book from this author previously and it was a DNF as I did not enjoy the OOT MCs in it. In here there is still some of that but it felt a bit more balanced. I still think that the MCs should have communicated and believed in each other since they were friends, but they were young and had so much external pressure that I could buy their behaviour.
However, I can't give it a higher rating as one of my pet peeves is including. Twice, because once wasn't enough!!
I do not like my MCs having sex with other people, whether they're together or not so this part did not work at all. I usually DNF there and then but I ended up skipping both scenes and pretending it never happened. This was an exception because I wanted to give this author another try. I did enjoy most of the rest of the book and how it ended.
I think I may read the next one IF it does not have sex scenes between the MCs and other people. Or if it needs to have, before they're together for example, I hope it's not really shown.

I really hoped I could like this, but I'm not a fan of when the MC is having sex on page with a person who is not the love interest. The lack of communication wasn't for me. I wished Oli would communicate more with Andre about the misunderstanding.

Oli and Andre were a wild ride. SO. MUCH. TENSION. And the pining, ugh so good.

This was probably one of my favorite enemies to lovers romances I’ve read. The tension had me about to scream (I may have wanted to knock their heads together multiple times) but when they finally let it all go, it was so explosive.

Behind the walls Andre built to protect himself, there’s a gooey sunshine human. He is caring and tender. I mean come on he colors when he’s anxious – absolutely adorable. I fell in love with him and just knew that there was some much more to the exterior he shows everyone else.

Oli was just as endearing but in a gruffer, hardened way. He lost everything and it left him icy – only letting in a select few. Even through all his hate, he still cared for Andre. Watching both of their walls come down and just be, was so sweet.

Two things about Sophie’s books I’ve come to love is the found family and the diversity in the cast of characters. I can’t help but fall in love with every side character she introduces. The diversity in characters is so refreshing. Not every friend group looks the same, or has the same culture. She always finds a way to represent that in her stories.

I need more Grey and Atlas, asap. I need to find out why Colton hates a certain Viper. Jessica, a firecracker of an agent, but once she’s claimed you, you’ll never have to fight alone.

Honestly, I could probably go on for hours about everything I enjoyed about these two and this book but then we’d be getting into spoiler territory. Another absolutely stunner from Sophie and I cannot wait to see who the next couple in the Wicked Sin series.

Check the CW/TW in the beginning of the book. There are some heavy topics discussed

Oh my GOD. This book was a ride—and by “ride” I mean Sophie Quinn strapped me into a rollercoaster of angst, spice, grief, and banter and then hit the “launch” button without warning. I went into These Wicked Games knowing I’d probably fall in love with Oli and Andre, and wow… I didn’t just fall, I plummeted headfirst off a cliff with no parachute.🙈🙈

Oli is everything I crave in a romance hero—possessive, protective, simmering with barely restrained anger—but then you throw in Andre, with his sharp tongue and smart mouth, and suddenly I’m in heaven. 😍

Their chemistry is pure chaos in the best possible way. These two hate each other so much it loops right back around into obsession, and every second of it had me cackling, kicking my feet, and then clutching my chest because daaaamn

SPECIFICALLY

OLI…..SIR! Please stop growling at me through the page, I am but a weak reader.🫠🫠🫠

Andre’s smart mouth deserves jail time… and smooches 🥹🥹

But here’s the thing—beneath the fire and the punches and the verbal sparring, Sophie gives us heart. I wept for my sweet boy Andre as we learned more and more about him; his pain gutted me in ways I wasn’t prepared for!

Oli—his grief for his mama mirrored my own, and I felt this deep, raw ache alongside him, like Sophie had reached into my own chest. It’s rare that a book makes me laugh, cry, and fan myself within the span of ten pages, but somehow this one did exactly that…

PROTECT ANDRE AT ALL COSTS.
ALSO THIS SCENE IS SO HOT????

Now let’s talk about the spice, because whew. The hate sex was next-level—feral, fiery, and toe-curling—but the slow shift into hot, heavy devotion and straight-up worshipping? INCREDIBLE.

Sophie really said: what if enemies to lovers, but make it unhinged, tender, and the hottest thing you’ve ever read????

I eat enemies to lovers UP, and this one wasn’t just a meal, it was a five-course banquet with dessert and wine.😋😋😋

This book is easily a new favorite, the kind I’ll be shoving into people’s hands while yelling “JUST TRUST ME.”

And honestly, Sophie could scribble three random words on a napkin and I’d still think it was art!

I had such a hard time letting Oli and Andre go, and truthfully, I’m not ready to. They’re going to haunt me in the best way for a long, long time.

Thank you so much, Sophie, for the advanced reader copy. I’ll just be over here, crying, laughing, and rereading my favorite scenes until further notice.❤️❤️

This was a ride! Andre and Oli had quite the journey together and I enjoyed witnessing it. These two clearly had chemistry from the beginning and it definitely showed when they reunited. I did not expect Andre’s story to go in the direction it did but I’m glad he developed a support system when he did. Oli being a brute and a softie at heart made for an interesting contrast that I enjoyed. I loved the side characters and the found family of it all! I’m curious about Atlas’s backstory and this promise that made and Felix although minimally involved intrigues me too. I’m interested to see who’s up next!

4.5, but rounding it up.

I really enjoyed Oli and Andre's story. Their chemistry and passion for each other was off the charts. I enjoyed how, even after the first time, they hooked up that the enemies aspect of the book was still there, and they weren't all lovey lovey right away.

Both of their background stories tugged at my heart, and they both deserved the love, support, and protectivness that they eventually let themselves have in each other.

The 🌶 between them was 🥵

I'm looking forward to the next book and can only hope it's Atlas and Grey's story. I absolutely loved Atlas in this book and need more of him.

I liked it

I want to start with I really liked the book over all, I knew right away what happened with the cups but no spoilers from me. I will say that I thought that it was quite repetitive with descriptions which I would have to go and make sure I wasn’t reading the same page again. Again, I liked the story. I will be reading to follow up next year. I need atlas and grays story STAT.

ARC Review

I was so excited to get an ARC for the first Wicked Sins book, and it did not disappoint! I loved Oli, Andre, and the new friend group we're introduced to. Andre and Oli's tension had me stressing at times. However, when they finally got together (i.e. Oli pulled his head out of his butt), the progression of their relationship made sense with how much backstory/established friendship we were shown throughout the book. Oli's filthy mouth also literally had my jaw dropping during several of the sex scenes lol.

Some things I loved (minor spoilers):

Oli buying Andre coloring books!
Oli asking his friends sister for recommendations of hair care products he could keep on hand in his house for Andre (as someone with curly hair I'm pretty sure this would make me melt!)
Atlas's everything when he wasn't putting his foot in his mouth. He gives off Noah energy and I'm here for it. I'm also begging for him and Grey to get a book!
Jessica being a general badass

CW: Abuse

This book also depicts parental abuse. There are a couple scenes throughout the book, as well as discussions of the effects of abuse. Please be kind to yourself when choosing to engage with this book if that is a difficult topic for you <3

Overall, I loved These Wicked Games and will be shelving it as a favorite. Looking forward to book two!

I love two broken boys that learn to love and heal themselves and each other. The tension between Oli and Andre was excellent. You felt all of their emotions on every page. The banter was so good, not just between Oli and Andre but between their friends as well.
Both had so much going on in their pasts that shaped them today and were able to come together and be stronger.

At first I went “Screw you, Andre. You ass napkin. Not my sweet Oli!” But than I read further and I went “Oh, you sweet sugar baby” with tears in my eyes. His father deserves the worst. The ass napkin!! Oli and Andre are my new favorite MM couple and watching everything they go through to just get each other and the FUCKING TRUTH about what happened, my heart strings were pulled. These Wicked Games is out on Friday, September 12th and you need to read it!! But don’t take my word for it, form your own opinion and fall for Oli and Andre like I did!! Oh, I can’t wait for the next book!

Oh my lord. I am in love. The absolute chokehold these men had me in, isn’t even funny. HOW Sophie does it every single time is beyond me, but all of her characters just simply speak to me. I just fall in love with them.

The absolute beauty of her characters and writing is just perfection. Seriously I am just amazed at how good this was. I did not put this down once I picked it up. The characters depth and the plot was just on point. & the spice my goodness , THE SPICE. I am on fire. This is a must read.

ARC REVIEW

“We were friends for so long, and I had a huge crush before, but this fire is new. It’s consuming. I can’t believe this is real, honestly. If eighteen-year-old me could see us now.”

.
.
Let me preface with this: I have yet to read a Sophie Quinn book I didn’t enjoy. These Wicked Games is no exception.

This time, we find ourselves in the Wicked Sins universe. Set against a backdrop of betrayal and hockey, we are introduced to Oli and Andre, childhood friends turned enemies.

Oli fully believes Andre is the derailment of his hockey dreams. One moment, and an alleged betrayal single-handedly destroyed their friendship. Since then, Oli has hated Andre. Meanwhile, Andre is quietly dealing with his own tumultuous home life and mourning the loss of his best friend. So imagine how Oli felt when he discovered the Otter’s new goalie is none other than Andre.

In true enemies-to-lovers fashion, These Wicked Games is in no short supply of angst, heat, and push and pull. As Oli and Andre confront their past and explore a potential future together, it becomes evident that not everything is as it seems.

For me, I adored Oli and Andre’s story. Even more so, I am excited to see where Sophie takes us in this new universe. As you read These Wicked Sins, you might even find yourself curious about other Otter players…
All in all, Sophie has yet again written a novel that had me enraptured with its characters and their story from start to finish.

This is the first book in the Wicked Sins series and based on Wrath. And my gosh, does the author do an amazing job of portraying that sin in the story! The anger was all-consumingly powerful from both the MMCs, but especially Oli, though deep down you could tell that they were feeling a mountain of hurt and betrayal, as well as that intense sadness felt from missing their best friend.

So many emotions were overwhelming in the first half of this book, and from the first chapter until the last page, I was completely captivated by the characters and their story.

While Oli is admittedly hot-tempered, he’s got a strong protective streak and his loyalty to his friends is absolute. He’s worked extremely hard to come back from the scandal that ruined his chance at a team when he was younger.

Poor Andre – he’s weighed down by all the pain he’s suffered under his dad’s rule. He carries so much loathing and pain from that, it again adds to the whole Wrath theme, but I loved seeing him finally get a chance at freedom and thrive while making friends and enjoying hockey, and I adored his cheeky sense of humour, along with his bratty and sassy side.

I also enjoyed those moments of unrestrained tension when Andre revels in winding up Oli to get a reaction and waited for that tension to snap in the most explosive of ways. After they get over the initial anger, their spicy scenes totally fit the Wrath vibe too and even throw in a bit of Lust when those hatred feelings were at the most intense and raw; these scenes are rough and full of passion – exactly what Andre needs, and he craves Oli taking control.

While the book is a fantastic representation of Wrath, it also raises awareness of the devastating effects of abuse on a person’s mental health, as well as the physical impact that Andre had to deal with throughout his life. I loved that he had plenty of support from his found family (eventually) to help him deal with his trauma.

I am very much looking forward to future books in this series. I really adored Atlas’s character, in particular, and I’d love to read more from him and Grey.

📚✨ ARC REVIEW ✨📚
These Wicked Games by Sophie Quinn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 stars)

Thank you to the author for providing a free ARC!

Oli and Andre were best friends until a perceived betrayal tore them apart. Now, eight years later, Oli has spent nearly a decade hating Andre and clawing his way back to the top of the hockey world. When Andre is traded to Oli’s team, they’re forced to confront their past… and the growing sexual tension that’s impossible to ignore.

Will Oli let his anger keep him from his missing puzzle piece? Or will he uncover the truth and open his heart to love?

I love a good friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story, and Oli and Andre delivered. Their connection was immediate and powerful, even with their friendship ending in the first chapter—a testament to Sophie Quinn’s writing that I cared so much, so quickly.

Both characters carry deep emotional wounds, making their falling out even more heartbreaking. Once they were reunited, I was on edge, waiting for them to open up and find comfort in each other again. Watching them slowly rebuild trust and fall in love was incredibly satisfying. I totally melted when they finally found their way back to each other.

The worst part of the book, hands down, was Andre’s father, Tripp (and that’s completely intentional). He’s the definition of despicable—masquerading as a hockey hero while being anything but. Every scene he was in made my skin crawl.

If you’re in the mood for an angst-filled, emotional hate-to-love romance with depth, tension, and seriously top-tier spice (the hate s3x is real 🔥), add These Wicked Games to your TBR.

For fans of: 🌈 MM romance | 💔 Friends ➡️ Enemies ➡️ Lovers | 😤 Possessive hero | 🛡️ Touch him and die | 😭 Angst | 🏠 Forced proximity | 🏒 Hockey romance

I liked this book a lot! As a first from the author for me I’ll definitely be reading more from her because this book was good!

Oliver and Andre used to be best friends until one day Andre sabotaged Oli’s carrier with the NHL team the Vipers. Now it’s been 8 years since their friendship exploded and both men are star players on rival teams.
After several injuries during a game and Oliver’s goalie out for the foreseeable future, Andre finds himself the new goalie for Oli’s team.
The guys can’t seem to let their hatred go even for the sake of the game but their coach isn’t having any of their petty behavior and tells them to get along or else.
After several heated exchanges and harsh words both men let the heat boil over and it starts to turn into passion. As they figure out whatever is going on between them truths come to the surface and dark secrets are brought to the light. They will need to lean on each other and learn to trust one another again to survive this new territory.

This was a true friends to enemies to lovers book and I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were well rounded and I cared about them both from the start. There is some heavy stuff in here so please check the trigger warnings and protect your mental health. No book is worth your health and happiness.

The spice was HOT and intense. Definitely some kink exploration and a little D/s play going on. 4.5/5 🌶️
There is MF sex as well as the MMC’s having sex with other people throughout the first half(ish) of the book. I’m not a huge fan on MF scenes in MM books as a personal preference so that contributes to a loss of a star for me.

Overall I enjoyed this read and I look forward to book 2!

These Wicked Games - Sophie Quinn
5 ♾️/5✨🌟

* SPOILERS *

I have read one book by Sophie and it was good, but this one was definitely my favorite. I just love how she writes the romance and the angst because it wicks you into this lovely world. I love me a great hockey romance.

Oli and Andre were best friends when they were younger until stuff happened. I love a good best friends to enemies and goodness, I was sucked in by everything that happened. Oli was so mad when he had to be on the same team as Andre when he became the new goalie on his team. The angst was probably one of the best ones I’ve read and I wanted so much more from these two.

The way that Oli went through his queer awakening was so natural for him because it was Andre. Also, I was either shocked to the core or I was laughing. I love it when a good can make me giddy and smile and then make me feel all these emotions.

Also, the ending with them was so perfect. I love how Oli loved The Princess Diaries or even how he bought Andre the coloring books. God, it was so cute. And what they did at the end with Andre’s new helmet was such an emotional moment.

I don’t want to give too much away but I loved that Andre had Oli to overcome his past. It was perfect. I cannot wait for the next book because I think it’s gonna be even better than this one!

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

These Wicked Games is the first in Sophie Quinn’s new Wicked Sins series, a high-heat hockey romance series inspired by the seven deadly sins.

This book is Wrath and features a best-friends to enemies to lovers romance. This book does a great job at setting the stage for the series and introducing the reader to the world of these players. As I was reading it, I started to pick up on where future books might interconnect, and I had a lot of fun trying to guess which deadly sin would inspire a character’s story!

Ollie and Andre’s story is not an easy one. They both have endured their own challenges during the years, and they both carry the emotional damage to prove it. They’re angry. Very angry. And they take out that anger on each other, in more ways than one. But, their anger fits together. They’re able to be what each other needs, and through that, we get to see them heal their relationship through honesty, forgiveness, and trust. From the very beginning of this book, you’re rooting for them.

I’m not going to lie; this book was tense at times. I’ve never wanted to commit so much violence against a fictional character, but the book’s antagonist just got under my skin. Watch your blood pressure when you’re reading this, because I was fuming!

Overall, I enjoyed the book, and I’m looking forward to reading the next ones in the series!

I knew this book was going to be so good because the first chapter hit hard and gave me chills. These are the best kinds of books 🙌🏽

Andre and Oli 💚 these two! These two are everything I love! And one of the best, best friends to enemies to lovers books I've read in a while. Their chemistry was 👏🏽 off 👏🏽 the 👏🏽 charts! The banter had me cackling, the sexual tension could be felt off the page! The hate fucking 🥵 hot damn!! But there were also the sweet moments, the way these two took care of each other. The little things they did to make the other happy, the way they could read each other, had me melting. *happy sigh*

I loved every part of this book. I had every emotion, I was pissed off, I cried, my feet were kicking, lots of giggles, squeals, I cackled loudly, and swooned so hard.

Also, the side characters were amazing, it was the best kind of found family. I am so excited for this series!! It's going to be so good and I can't wait to see who the next book will be about. Crossing my fingers 🤞🏽 for Atlas and Grey!!

Seriously you do not want to miss this!

Review:
These Wicked Games is book 1 of the Wicked Sins Series and it follows Oli and Andre two best friends who become enemies then lovers.
From the first chapter I was hooked. The hate, the banter, the trauma, the spice, the sweetness oh and hockey players 😉 it literally will have you feeling all different types of emotions.
Oli feels betrayed by Andre, Andre is mad at Oli for thinking the worst of him. When they see each other on the ice Oli’s hatred becomes so much that he can’t control himself and they fight…every single time they see each other. Then Andre becomes Olis new teammate. Emotions run high, so much tension, hate, sadness and betrayal. But their chemistry is insane! The hate makes it one of the most hottest experiences for both and when Oli finally gets his head out off his ass and gives Andre a chance they can’t stay away from each other.
They have so much trauma to deal with and so much hurt and trust issues but when they realize what they both have is so much more than just hate sex their HEA is so much deserved.
I truly enjoyed this one and I’m super excited for book 2.

This was my first Sophie Quinn book, and honestly, she set the bar so high! Andre and Oli were both absolutely adorable in their own ways. What they went through, and the “misunderstanding” that ended their friendship, was heartbreaking, as was seeing how Andre grew up and lived his life.

When Andre transferred to the Otters—Oli’s team—I was on the edge of my seat waiting for them to explode. The teasing, jabs, arguments, even their fights were so entertaining, and the occasional post-argument hookups? Chef’s kiss. Of course, they’d have been fools not to realize they loved each other, but the journey there was full of enough drama to make it all worth it.

Almost all the side characters were adorable too: Jessica, Vanessa, Viktor, Ryker—but especially Grey and Atlas. I’m completely obsessed with them, and I’m so hoping they end up together. Grey’s injury and Atlas’s reaction had me in tears; I just can’t get over it.

Overall, this book kept my stomach in knots from start to finish—excitement, tension, joy, outrage, even full-on screaming. It gave me everything I wanted, and I loved every single minute of it.

Ever since Heated Rivalry came out, I’ve been craving reading more hockey romance books and this book was the perfect fix, I love Sophie Quinn’s other series so I was very excited that she wrote a hockey romance book.

I loved Oli and Andre together so much. They put me on a rollercoaster of feelings. They had so much tension and miscommunication but when they both finally got their shit together and actually talked things out, their chemistry was explosive.

Oli was slowly warming up to me after he got his shit together and I love Andre so much, my heart broke for him and what he had to go through with his father and I was so glad he had Oli there to protect him. They had a rough journey together but I loved the way they reunited. I loved how Oli was a big brute but a softie on the inside for those he cared about and Andre is such a sweetheart. Oli’s protectiveness over Andre made me swoon.

I also really loved the side characters, Andre’s and Oli’s teammates Atlas and Grey. Overall this book was so good and definitely what I needed. I’m excited for this series to continue.

I am OBSESSED with Oli and Andre, they have to be my new favorite couple of the year!! I love them so much!!!!

This story had it all for me! A great overall plot that had a couple going at the same time, the banter, the spicy scenes were top tier and the side characters were so great! The issues with Andres dad I literally could not put this book down! DEVOURED is a nice way to say how I consumed this book, and I’m so freaking sad it’s over. The possessiveness Oli had over Andrea pleassssse I was kicking my dang feet the entire time!!!

I thought going into this book I’d totally side with Oli but my heart and soul was all for Andre ughh I wanted to hold him so freaking bad.

When these two finally get together it’s explosive and so freaking good, the way they care for each other and would go to war for the other *sigh* they are perfection.

I can’t wait for this whole series to come out, I know it’s gonna be one of my absolute favorite.

"I hate him more than anything, and some days it's only that hate that fuels me."

It's so much hatred in this book, if you're looking for an enemies to lovers, this is a great choice!

🏒 MM hockey romance
💚 Best friends to enemies to lovers
🏒 Spicy🌶
💚 Touch him and💀
🏒 Found family
💚 Smarta$$ goalie
🏒 Forced proximity
💚 Dual POV

Oli and Andre were best friends until Andre betrays Oli and ruins his career. A decade down the line and the hatred is still what fuels Oli to be the best hockey player he can be. Then Andre gets signed to Oli's team and suddenly they're teammates forced to get along despite their history😏

I enjoyed this so much! This book needs a teeny tiny bit of editing, sometimes the dialogue was a bit confusing. Other than that it was awesome. The tension, the hatred and the sweet moments were all amazing 🥹 This is my second book by Sophie Quinn and I want to read more, more, more!

“Most people look away from the light, but maybe what you need is to look into it.”

These Wicked Games by Sophie Quinn is the first book in the Wicked Sins series. This is Oli and Andre’s book, an enemies-to-lovers, ex-best friend’s trope.

Oli and Andre are childhood best friends turned full-on enemies. Oli had it all, hockey, his mom, and his ride-or-die best friend. Then came the betrayal and everything fell apart. Oli’s convinced Andre ruined his shot at hockey and destroyed their friendship along the way. But while Oli’s holding onto that grudge, Andre's stuck dealing with a messy home life and the heartbreak of losing the one person who mattered most. Now, years later, Andre suddenly shows up as the Otter’s new goalie, reigniting old wounds and unresolved tension. They can’t stop fighting, but they also can’t ignore the sparks. Turns out, hate and heat look a lot alike.

“He was my best friend. I had no one. No one. He knew how hard my mother struggled. He knew the pain she was in after her diagnosis. He knew what going pro would mean to me. He betrayed me anyway. My eyes sting, I try myself to blink back the pain rising up inside me now of all times.”

This book is enemies-to-lovers at its best, slow-burn, angsty, emotional, and full of tension. As Oli and Andre start facing the wreckage of their past, it’s clear there’s a lot more to their story than either of them thought.

“What I am sure of is that now I have him back, I really don’t want to let him go… It’s having my friend back finally. I hadn’t realized just how much I missed him.”

I loved their dynamic. I loved the mix of tension and longing. Andre and Oli felt real, they are messy, they carry baggage, they screw up, you could feel their despair… they are flawed and make bad decisions, and that’s exactly what makes you root for them.

“My fingers itch and I give in to the pull to touch him. My hand lands on his knee, squeezing. I don’t have the power to change the things that have been done, but I have the power to be his place to rest and not have to worry about what will happen when he comes home at the end of the day.”

Also, I’m already kind of obsessed with the rest of the Otters. Can’t wait to see what happens with them in future books.

One thing though: make sure you check the trigger and content warnings before diving in.

I received an eARC from the author for free, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

These Wicked Games was a story that completely swept me away. It’s intense and emotional, with angst perfectly balanced by moments of disarming sweetness.
The chemistry between Oli and Andre is undeniable: the tension, the anger, the scars from the past, and those small gestures that reveal their vulnerability create a bond that pulls you in page after page.
What I loved most is how Sophie Quinn manages to balance the rawness of certain themes with warmth, lighthearted moments, and scenes that made me smile in the middle of the storm.
The writing is compelling, the emotions feel authentic, and the subtle sense of found family running through the story adds even more depth.
This is an enemies to lovers I won’t forget easily: passionate, moving, and leaving me with a full heart and an eager need to continue the series.

My goodness these two just had so much going on and a lack of telling each other about it.

Oil and Andre were best friends, then in a mix up with a drug test, Oli is kicked from their hockey team and after seeing the sample cup knows that was actually Andre’s cup - queue a 10 year hatred.

When Andre is traded to play for the same team as Oli, fists and all the hateful words fly causing the team to suffer so the coach rooms them together for away games till they sort themselves out. Little did he know they would so intimately sort things out..

The hate bangin was sooooo good! But let’s be real, they don’t hate each other! 😝

When they FINALLY ACTUALLY start talking about the past, it’s so good them letting some things go and learning to trust again.

A brilliant story with absolute top notch spice.

These Wicked Games by Sophie Quinn was an unexpected delight.

I grabbed this book while fighting off a brutal flu, just looking for a good old rivals-to-lovers hockey read to keep me company—and what I got was so much more.

Not only was this a friends → rivals → f*ck buddies → lovers romance (which already had me hooked), but it was also a story about survival, escaping abuse, grief, and rebuilding a life. It had emotional depth I didn’t see coming, and it made the sweeter moments hit even harder.

This book checked every single box on my ideal hockey-romance checklist. I’m already excited for the next installment, and I’m really hoping we get more glimpses into Oli and Andres’ life together, plus more time with the rest of the crew we’ve come to love.

Highly recommend if you love hockey romance with heart, heat, and healing.

It’s always hot or miss when you try a new author. And well this book is a huge HIT!! Like wow!! If you like hockey romance with tension and chemistry that jumps off the page and keeps you hooked from the first page, banter that’s makes you laugh and the best found family, then this book is definitely a must read.
From the beginning I was team Oli all the way. The way Andre did him dirty broke my heart, but the more and more I got into the story the more I fell in love with Andre. My poor baby didn’t do anything wrong! These two held my attention right from the start. I didn’t want to sleep or go to work, I just wanted to read. These two definitely kept me on my toes. They fought hard for their happy ending and I’m so glad that I picked up this book and was on the journey with them. I’m so excited for more in this world and cant wait for the next one.

SQ knows how to build tension and sell the magnetism between her characters!

This is the third book I’ve read by SQ as I loved her debut so I was so excited to receive an ARC for this one. There are a few formatting things that made the beginning of this book and some of the dialogue a bit disorienting however once I got through the prologue of sorts - I couldn’t put this book down! Again SQ just writes tension and longing so well, and I admire that SQ doesn’t shy away from showcasing characters with baggage. Are they always perfect? No? Are they beautiful? Yes.

Please take care and heed the author’s TW in the beginning.
