When trouble strikes, a certain Guardian finds Themself unable to turn a blind eye to such needless suffering. With a guiding hand, what mischief and reparation will follow when four sisters learn to walk in another’s footsteps? And will the lessons they have learned last beyond the momentary mischief?
As for Lizzy Bennet, following a harrowing ordeal, will she finally learn to see beneath the surface and begin to understand that there is more to be discovered if she but takes the chance? With her Guardian as her guide, circumstances look vastly different to all that she had once supposed, and now Lizzy must learn to stand in a world that often lays the blame at the victims feet. Will her strength of character rise to the challenge, or will her courage wither under the onslaught?
Fitzwilliam Darcy had every intention of allowing his time in Meryton to be nothing but a brief escapade in a rural county of little merit. Who knew that the woman he had secretly admired was the only woman he would ever love? And that it took something terrible before he could accept the truth his heart had known all along.
Trigger Warning - A chapter contains a detailed recalled memory of an assault, but can be skipped if the reader so chooses.
Very, very different body swap P&P where Elizabeth's angelic "Guardian" takes drastic measures to improve the attitudes of each of her sisters after she's been beaten, seriously injured, and is now fighting for her life. Not a light read, but a very interesting one. Strong trigger warning.
I quite enjoyed this story. It is hard to read even with the trigger warning. Without knowing what happened, the pain is palpable and a good tribute to the author’s skills. I would have liked to know what happened to the villain, but ultimately it’s Lizzy’s story that matters. I would like more of the guardians angle and I think the return to original bodies was abrupt. However, it is a good read but get your tissues.
But I think it was wrapped up too quickly. I enjoyed the mysticism but didn't really like it as a plot device to excuse the way Elizabeth was instantly in love with Darcy while barely having spoken to him. I think it could be a longer, more satisfying novel. I gave it 5 stars anyway because what was there held my attention thoroughly. This is a tale of the sisters more than Elizabeth and Darcy.
