Rate this book
With One Week To Go, Cupid's Arrows Are Flying Across The Windy City!

Anastasia Graves, CEO & matchmaker extraordinaire is no stranger to the winged cherub.

Rather she is Cupid.

Cupid the elite discreet dating service, that is. Ms. Graves offers the best of the best, and the best is love.

However, our sources say she won't be heart-seeking alone this year. Chicago's Cupid found herself a sweetheart personal assistant, Nicolette Richter.

As sweet as she is—she has to prove her place next to the Queen of Hearts. But all work and no play makes for one incredibly dull Valentine's Day exposé.

And we know firsthand that working with Cupid is anything but.

ARC reader. 4/5 stars.* Some Spoilers*

Did I stay up to finish book? Yes. Did I think that the characters fell hard too fast? Yes. Do I want to know where the series takes us? Yes. Was it spicy? Yes.

I liked the story as a whole, but thought that a week was too short of a time span for this story. Yes, I know that this is a work of fiction and there is love at first sight, but this was still too fast of a love story for me. I would have liked a little bit more filling out of the love story. This was more of a story of lust. Anastasia and Nicolette just fall into a relationship too fast. I also did not like the nick name that was given to Nicolette, Bunny. It gave me some ick every time it was used.

The interactions between Anastasia and Nicolette seemed to based more on the premise of a one night stand. Anastasia has some walls that needed to be broken, but one week does not seem to be enough time to break them down to the extent that is portrayed in this book. In one week, she goes from “I think that she is hot and want to sleep with her, to let’s get married.” Actually, it was more like a day maybe two!

The jealous ex-lover also was a little much. Do we really think that she should still be employed at the same company? It was explained as that she was still doing well in her role at the company, but was she really? I mean she was scaring away all the new assistants that Anastasia was trying to hire.

I enjoyed the premise of a Cupid that was making sure that all the ones around her were finding love even if she had walls up to prevent her from finding love, even if it was right in front of her. I liked the leads into what I think will be the next stories in the series. Everyone deserves to find love.

Anastasia Graves founded the dating service Cupid for the discerning and rich a few years previously, and she has been so hard working and successful the company has grown to make her very rich. She is very private about her life and sexuality, keeping everything from the media. After casually dating Britney, now the main receptionist in the company, she swore off romance because of the bad way that ended. When Anastasia is searching for a new personal assistant, the best applicant by far is Nicolette, and so she hires her for a trial period.
Nicolette is ecstatic to be hired by Cupid. This is her dream job, the one she has been working to achieve. She is going to try her very best to be indispensable to Ms Graves. For some reason Anastasia has had a large turn-over of personal assistants recently, which confuses Nicolette because of the warmth and friendliness which Anastasia radiates, while keeping things professional.
This is a lovely warm story, a bit naive and simplistic at times, but really worth reading for the attraction, emotion and love that blossoms. There are also really obvious set-ups for further books in this series, involving some of Nicolette’s four sisters. This whole story is a whirlwind of actions and emotions, a bit rushed in my opinion, but I really loved the ending of the story.

Duel 1st Person POV. 4.5🌟 4🌶️. 229 pages
Working with Cupid is the first book in a series of standalone, but slightly interconnected novellas called the Chicago Sapphics series. Their interconnectedness comes from the fact that each novella follows 1 of 5 sisters.

The first book Working with Cupid follows Nicolette as she secures a trial based position as a PA for CEO Anastasia of Cupid Multimedia. It’s a fast burn, low angst, insta-lust, workplace romance that will have you screaming, crying and throwing up from the cuteness, the tension, the spice and the inevitable HEA!

For such a short book it really packs a punch with so much sexual tension, loving sisters, a jealous ex, a plan to ruin both MC’s and a large dose of spice

Honestly do yourself a favour and check out this series of novellas. You won’t be disappointed!

Working With Cupid by H.B. Cliff is a spicy office romance that had me hooked from start to finish! As a sapphic romance, it beautifully explores the blossoming relationship between two women in a professional setting. Nicolette lands her dream job working for Anastasia, and the chemistry between them is palpable from the beginning. The excitement of navigating forbidden feelings and the attraction to each other makes the spicy scenes truly unforgettable! I enjoyed this book so much and would highly recommend it!

Well, I read this a little early for Valentine’s Day but as I’ve mentioned before I’m on a novella kick and this is a 5 book series. Which I do believe consists of 5 sisters who have all been blessed with having love for the ladies, statistics don’t hold a candle to the Richter clan.

This novella is a dual POV in the first person, with the ice queen CEO and the sunny assistant.

The CEO, Anastasia, felt pretty detached almost like how a lot of the mafia boss ones are written and Nicolette was the sweetest peach! I wouldn’t say it was a significant BDSM plot but there is a clear power dynamic (domme/sub) between the two.

It was quite the love bomb fest with plenty of spice and a happy ending. Which all seems on brand give the holiday and the company they both work for is Cupid, an exclusive dating service 💁‍♀️.

Therefore, if you’re looking for a quick, spicy read with the ice queen/sunshine trope over the holiday of love then give this a go!

I will be reading all 5 on quick succession should you care to have my opinion on the rest. 🙇‍♀️

This book was definitely one of those that once I started I didn’t want to put it down. It was a very fun story with very likable characters…except for one and if you’ve read it you know. The descriptions of each character was told in a way that helps you visualize them while reading. Nicolette is definitely someone I would want to be friends with and I thought Dawn was just adorable. Cupid sounds like a fun place to work and you can tell Anastasia really cares for what she does. My only complaint was that the story ended too soon for me lol. But don’t worry there are more stories to read in this series and I cannot wait to jump into them 😉

H.B. pulls together a balance of sweet, sour, and spicy in the tasty, fast-paced novella that is Anastasia and Nicollette’s story.

This breezy read was a delicious palate cleanser, and I look forward to meeting the rest of the Chicago sapphics!

This book completely won me over. I went into it expecting something cute, and ended up having such a good time that I barely noticed how fast I was reading. The writing flows so easily, the pacing is enticing, and I was hooked from the start.

This book is genuinely “adorable”; but not in a fluffy, forgettable way. There’s real tension, playful chemistry, and a slow build that makes the payoff feel worth it. The spice is there, it’s fun, and it fits the story perfectly without overpowering the romance.

What I really appreciated was how natural everything felt. The banter didn’t feel forced, the emotions landed softly but clearly, and the relationship developed in a way that made sense. It felt warm, lighthearted, and sincere; the kind of book that just puts you in a good mood.

Overall, this was such a lovely read. Sweet, engaging, and really well written. An easy five stars for me, and one I’d happily recommend when you want something cute, romantic, and genuinely enjoyable.
