I had an inclination for writing and the arts since school. I had been a contributor and then editor of the school magazine “Rendezvous”, by the time I was in 8th grade I had completed “Arangetaram” (the program upon graduation of training in the Indian classical dance form Bharatnatyam) and was also an avid artist doing canvass painting. With this background, I was also an academic achiever; I ended up pursuing the Science like most others in India.

Delving into Chemistry, I enjoyed it but it did not move me. To do more I kept up with writing and painting and joined YUVA a NGO working with underprivileged children. The premise of this organization was to mobilize youth of India to contribute through giving their time for a few hours a week. It is here that I first became aware of the power of communication media. The work that I did and others do in enabling the downtrodden was greatly enabled through the communication approach, message and methods. This left and impact and I knew that is where I wanted to build a career. I have completed my masters in Mass Communication from University of Pune along with an MBA in broadcast journalism. Through this course I have developed skills in written, oral and multimedia expression.

Mehta's first foray into the world of the supernatural is a brave attempt in the English language. While this Indian author still needs to work on developing her style as a storyteller and her book needs a little more editing to flow naturally, nevertheless, her story progresses well enough and the English is acceptable enough not to disturb the mood of the work as a whole.

This would be an ideal book for the non-native English speaker who wants to improve their English reading skills but wants to get away from those "teach-yourself-English" books or dislikes making do with children's stories. Mehta's English is competent (albeit a little formal or disjointed at times for anyone with English as a first language) and easy to read; and her storyline is grippingly spooky.

A teenager learning English who is a fan of Vampire novels or ghost stories will enjoy this tale of murder, reincarnation and revenge without the need to dive into the dictionary every few minutes to check some (unnecessarily) long and complex word. It would make a nice gift for such a supernatural fan.

I will be interested to see how Mehta's style progresses with her second novel. Fossils of Memory is a brave stab but I believe she has much more to offer us yet.

I got to know about this book through a friend of mine and I ordered it online. The moment I started reading I couldn’t keep it down. Horror and thriller have been my favorite genres and this book served me well. Every chapter of the book ends with a poetry and I loved this style of writing.

Her soul is pure
But the past haunts
Some truth buried
Beneath the soil

I loved this poem in the entire book. Rhiana’s emotions are clearly described in it. Also I loved the part where she struggles with her fear of travelling alone in the jungle to help Ruben. The places and the events are described wonderfully. The pain which little Ruben had to undergo touched me. It is pure fantasy mixed with creative writing. This is a perfect book for mystery lovers.

I got this book from the author, in exchange of an honest review from my side which I'm thrilled to share!

Fossils of Memory have been a wonderful journey from start till the end. All the three female characters have been portrayed beautifully. Ruben's story touched me. As a first time author this is a wonderful job done by Kruti. I loved her way of writing and describing the characters and places. Also the language is simple and easy to understand which is indeed a benefit. Rhiana's journey towards finding peace is indeed a beautiful one. I loved how the tulip stayed back and never withered.

The book is indeed the best pick for those who love horror and mystery novels. As a whole, the book is a well written plot with elements of mystery and suspense justified properly. it carefully wraps the entire story and delivers it perfectly.

In Short, i would like to recommend this book to all those who love mysteries and thrillers.

Thank You so much Kruti for giving me an opportunity to read the book.

Fossils of Memory came was accidental but I am glad I picked it up. It's a small story with creative writing. Loved the poems. Each and every character is explained in detail and it helps the readers imagination catch the story properly. Another beautiful part of this book is that the language is highly simple. One does not need to open dictionary every now and then which happens with a lot of other books I've read. I loved Monica's character. I won't discuss more about it because I don't want this post to be a spoiler. This is a perfect book for mystery lovers.
