Paul Cezanne: A Life in Art

Rate this book
"With an apple, I hope to astound Paris." In these words, Paul Cezanne expressed the seriousness and passion of his desire to reveal, through his work, the profound realities of nature and a cause to which he devoted more than 40 years of his active career. Take an artistic journey, with 130 paintings, watercolors, and drawings by Cezanne, along with 40 works by other artists who influenced or were influenced by him, including Courbet, Daumier, Delacroix, Manet, Pissarro, Degas, Van Gogh, Braque, Picasso, and Leger. Share the depth of feeling that drove him in a quest to combine the rigorous, formal composition of the old masters with the new, naturalistic color techniques of the Impressionists. An innovative and wide-ranging introduction to Cezanne's genius, essential for every art lover.
