After walking away from her marriage, Shayla now has a son, a budding career as a psychiatrist, and a home in Georgia. Everything she thought her first marriage should be, she’s getting and more from Antonio Davis. Life couldn’t be better until someone from her past books an appointment for a counseling session.
Rhonda moved to Atlanta with Shayla in her crosshairs. She knows Shayla’s kind heart will open up and accept her back in once she gives her some tragic news. To make sure her plan of reentering Shayla’s life works, Rhonda has enlisted a key player. Will she have Shayla’s best interest at heart this time around, or will the instinct to destroy everything in her path win again?
The goodwill to step in and help an old friend could land Shayla a chair on the other side of her own psychiatry desk in another entertaining, jaw-dropping tale of abandonment, disloyalty, and obsession.
This girl loves a good book--especially books that suck you into the pages and take you to new worlds, providing a much needed break from the everyday hustle. I'm obsessed with happily ever after and feel good romances that serve up a strong dose of reality.
The follow-up to 2009’s “Secrets of a Kept Woman” finds Shayla Davis a happily married mother and psychiatrist. All is well, until her past finds its way into her present, which may alter her future.
Lissa, Shayla’s friend, believes she has found the perfect man – handsome, rich, intelligent, powerful, and available. Or maybe not.
Like its predecessor, “Secrets of a Kept Woman 2” has just enough drama to capture the attention of readers. It’s an easy read. This book, however, is a little lighter on story and at times feels forced and falters in predictability. Also, the story is told in third-person yet each chapter is noted with a character’s name as normally indicative of a story told in first-person. Some chapters have titles, while most do not. Though an easy read, the buildup is on the slow side. Over halfway in, the story picks up, the plot thickens and then…it ends abruptly. Questions unanswered. Plot unresolved. I would guess this is to setup for another book, but all it did was irritate this reader. Give me a complete story. Even if a book or more books are to follow, give me a complete story and the option to continue on with the characters not the need to because the story ended without resolution.
I think Shani Greene Dowdell has a gift, creating an easy read isn’t easy, but I recommend she team up with a good developmental editor to strengthen her strengths and close any gaps and eliminate weaknesses.

My Thoughts........
Wow...what an interesting, intriguing read that will keep you turning the pages to see what will be coming next! Yes, only more drama! Now we find Shayla happily married with a son and a good job...what more can Shayla ask for taking? However, will she be able to survive with all that is now coming on her...from an ex-best friend that seems to go back into Shayla's life? This is one of those drama reads where you will have it coming at you from the right and left...with the drama, betrayal, scheming, and more secrets that keep on coming out.[Now pregnant and cancer??] The characters in this read are really off the chart defined and believable ..wow...there is Shayla, Antonio, Ronda, Lissa, Seth, Jennifer, James, and some others that will keep your eyes glued to the pages wondering what more does this author have for the reader in this dramatic thriller read. Be ready for a read with many unexpected twists and turns that will draw you into each situation, and in the end, you are given on good read-only left wanting more.
This is one of those reads that will make you think long and hard about best friendships.
More drama and a set up you wouldn't believe! It amazes me how jealousy and envy will make people act....the book continued from part 1 and flowed smoothly, it was a good read and looking forward to see what happens in the next installment. This book is recommended by Unique Words LLC
Shayla and Anthony have been through enough drama to fill a bathtub twice. Shayla's so-called ex-best friend Rhonda is still doing evil. Book 3 needs to be about her redemption.
Secrets of a Kept Woman 2 was highly anticipated by me, as I’d thoroughly enjoyed part 1. I re-read the first novel to refresh myself, and then jumped right into part 2. I was absolutely delighted that it did not disappoint. I couldn’t believe that Rhonda was still up to her old tricks; it seems her total hatred for Shayla knows no bounds. She wants everything that Shayla has, up to and including her husband. I wanted to reach into the book, and punch her in the throat at times!
This book is full of drama, scheming, betrayal, and will have you turning the pages as fast as you can to see what that scandalous Rhonda is up to next. I breezed through this book relatively quickly, because I wanted to find out what was going to happen next; one of the signs that a book is good to me. The characters are believable, and you will definitely find yourself identifying with them. The plot is easy to follow, and has twists and turns that will leave you speechless!
I’d recommend this book to anyone looking for an intriguing and interesting read; you should read Secrets of a Kept Woman part 1 first, so that you’ll know what’s going on! I’m hoping there will definitely be a part 3!
I loved this book...Rhonda was something else...I was glad to see the girls back.....Shani kept me engaged...felt like i knew these ladies...Shayla is strong cause for someone to have it out for you that bad....and ut be your best friend of hip school...to not lose yourself is phenomenal...Shayla handled herself.... But i feel like there's a story there for Rhonda...something is got on and there has got toe a reason her bullseye is set for Shayla
Wow Rhonda still at it. Her hatred for Shayla is crazy. She's the one that needs to be put in a nut house. Really enjoyed the book. Glad Lissa got some sense too. James SMH.
Jealousy and envy will make so called friends try to destroy you and your relationship. Im glad the main charactersdidnt let that happen in the end. I didn't know that this was part 2 so i had to go back to book 1 so i could get the full picture. I would definitely recommend this book!
After book one, there was no need for book two or three. Shonda is delusional and Shayla feed into her delusional mind. There’s no way Shayla could be that naive, no way. Especially with the kind of profession she is in. This is here’s get off smh.
I say WoW some people are good and some people need help. When good people are happy it seems like your past comes around when it should not be around.
