Glummouse and Sadmouse warn Littlemouse about the snow - which is cold and dangerous, apparently. The more they talk about snow, the more intrigued Littlemouse is by it. So when the others have gone to bed, Littlemouse sneaks out to have a look. What he discovers outside is so exciting that he just can't contain himself.
