"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness the astonishing light of your own being." -Hafez
Mila Crawford always has me crawling on my way back to dark romance begging for more and Choke?! Is just the next book on the long list of her books that I’m obsessed with!
Mona is strong and doesn’t cower in the face of danger and I love her so much!
When we get to part two I love that we get a little of Mona’s sister too but also we so what happened with Atlas and Callum and how obsessed they are with Mona still.
It’s such a quick read and I reached the end before I even realized it but I just love it so much! There’s something about people seeing you for the monster you are and loving you still.
I flew through this book. This can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the others in the series first. Mona is taken and being held by Callum & Atlas. They end up helping her escape, and are still obsessed with her years later. This spice in this book was 🔥🔥 I really think no one writes degradation as good as Mila does
This is a dark MMF romance. The content, both on and off page, will NOT be suitable for everyone. It covers topics that are mega heavy and may be triggering to some. You MUST proceed with caution; your mental health matters.
Mila has this unique skill at bringing a story to life, that is super spicy yet incredibly powerful at the same time. Her books always get you in the feels and this was no different.
I really enjoyed the interconnecting elements with Feral, I felt it gave you some more background depth and filled in a couple of gaps. I adored getting to see the Feral characters again; they have my heart 🖤 I loved seeing the similarities between Mona and Azadeh and how they both rocked it being bada$$es. It was a bitter sweet read knowing it was the last in the series but Mona’s story was the best ending.
I loved the dynamic between both Atlas and Callum and then all three of them. I think they fit very well together with Mona completing their circle. They complimented each other and it just worked.
This was fast paced, dangerous and seriously twisted; I mean what more do you want from a read? As I mentioned earlier, Mila brings us these characters that are superbly written and oh so powerful and I’m here for them all. Her men are always delightfully delicious and leave me salivating every time.
This book takes depravity to a whole new level and I’m seriously questioning myself as my morales seemed to disappear whilst reading this 😅 gaining new k!nks every day!
This had everything for a fabulous read, the plot was gripping and kept you on your eyes, the characters were well written and Mila brought the spice. It was tense, it was emotionally powerful and it was filthy. It had all my favourite things!

If you’re looking for a filthy, delicious and morally questionable read; this is the one for you.
4⭐️Mila writes such beautiful characters with such amazing and traumatic back stories. I always love the world she creates for us. It feels like you’re getting a little piece of Mila each time with every read.
This book was a wonderful sendoff for this series. I’ve loved every single book in it. They’re all so unique and I love how much the characters crossover and cameo in each new addition to the series.
“Is redemption possible for monsters like me? I harbor hope that my dark soul will one day find salvation. That a time will come when goodness grasps me from my continued descent into hell.”
The mental health rep in this book is palpable at times so definitely look after yourself but it’s hauntingly beautiful to read. It’s a lovely journey for them all to find their peace in each other.
“Her touch and her words contain no malice or judgment. She gives these people hope in a world of despair…”
I love that she’s a social worker, because I’m a social worker and I really found my person in her. I love her values around social justice and commitment to helping others. It’s just beautiful.
“The most dangerous fire is the one you aren’t expecting, Kitten.”
The spices Mila level inferno! Like you might need to carve out a bit of time to read this book and then for a little bit afterwards if you know what I’m saying! I loved the switch vibes and pet play.
This is a MMF and the filth is extra filthy that’s for sure. Mona doesn’t let anyone scare her after the things that she has endured her life. Now these two men Callum & Atlas are not good people but one thing they can’t stop themselves from doing is stalking their Kitten even after promising her she would never see them again… but you know loop holes are everyone’s favorite! Callum & Atlas have a very sexual along with a violent relationship they both get off on pain & control more Callum than Atlas most of the time. What they didn’t expect was Mona to treat them like the dogs they are & of course when she says bark, they will do anything for a treat! This was a good read that I finished very quickly, and of course I loved her sister along with her men!
“Looks like that pretty mouth is good for something other than being smart.”
“You sound so much better when your is full of my cock. I think I prefer you like this, Callum. Unable to speak.”
“See, Atlas? You’re a sick fuck, just like me. You’re obsessed, just like me. You’re insane, just like me.”
“That’s what I want, Kitten. I want my pretty little slut to sit on my face and feed me her and Atlas’s cum.”
“I let you play your game, Mona. I’ll let you have your fun. But it’s time for me to put you in your place. When I tell you to sit on my face, you’re going to be a good little slut, and give me what I want. Now shut the fuck up and ride me until you come all over my face.”
Dark and Steamy and Delicious. OMG !!! Guys . I really don’t think I can even start to describe the emotional rollercoaster I was just taken on . Mona , Callum and Atlas - let me just say I was definitely not prepared for their story . Not prepared for the degree to which I was just 100% pulled in and all the emotions I found myself reeling with . Atlas , Mona and Callum were such beautifully broken and flawed characters. All 3 have been through so much . So much tragedy and struggles and demons . Things that have taken a toll on them both physically and emotionally. Each was so different , Mona was such a bad@ss and so strong and resilient, Callum was without a doubt a complete psychopath yet at the same time you just can’t help by to fall for him . And then we have Atlas who struggles with so much guilt you literally just want to reach right in and give him a big hug . The layers to each character , the complexities of their relationship ( I honestly felt like I was on the wildest ride at the amusement park , just reeling with everything from smiling and yelling to sobbing and cheering so so hard . Please be aware of the triggers as this really is a very dark read . But if your feelings adventurous. Dive in !!! I can guarantee your mind will be completely blown in all the best ways
Choke is Mona’s story—dark, twisted, and loosely inspired by Aladdin (if Aladdin involved cults, captivity, and obsession).
While it can be read as a standalone, you’ll want to start with Feral to meet Mona and get the full emotional punch.
Mona is the sister of Darius (In Dreams) and Azadeh (Feral). One moment she’s walking down the street, the next—snatched into a black car and blindfolded. She wakes in a nightmare, face-to-face with her captors: Atlas, the son of a delusional cult leader, and Callum, the demon-like enforcer devoted to both father and son.
But Callum isn’t what he seems. He helps Mona escape—and in doing so, frees himself and Atlas too.
Fast forward two years… and their obsession with Mona hasn’t faded.
It’s only grown.
And now? They’ll do anything to get her back.
Things to know
gore, violence, child abuse, religious trauma, stalking, captive/captor scenes, and trauma bonding, brief discussions of self harm and suicidal thoughts, a scene with complicated necrophilia, degradation, breath play, blood play, spit play, cum play, voyeurism, branding, MMF, loosely inspired by Aladdin, found family, touch her and die, child abuse (off page), child neglect, mutilation, somnophilia
I absolutely LOVED this book!!! It was beyond phenomenal! I felt all the feels while reading it. Callum, Atlas and Mona had my heart from the first page!!! All broken in different ways but together they are whole🖤 Mona is such a bada** survivor just like her sister and mother!!! I love her so much! Her smart mouth and the ways she puts her men in their place🫠🫠🫠 Obsessed! Callum, that man had my swooning! He is such a psychopath & I am here for it!!! The love he has for his partners had me in tears! I just love him! Atlas, oh my heart🥺 It completely broke for him! All his guilt that he feels made me just wanna give him a hug. I love how both of his partners made him feel that he could finally be himself!!! His obsession with them both 🥵
Together these 3 had my kindle about to go up in flames🔥🔥🔥 The spice is so panty meltingly delicious and dirty💦 Loved the cameos with her Az & her men as well as her brother!!! Thank you Mila for always giving us these phenomenal books! Highly highly highly recommend!!!!
I feel like with this being the end of the Darkly Ever After series, you can see how it started dark and fun and took a darker turn as it went on. Choke is a trigger heavy book done well. The FMC, Mona, is a take no prisoners type of woman. By the time the books starts, she had already seen some of the worst things life could show you and was ready to be gone. The MMCs Callum and Atlas, were some of the worst things, and they knew that, but they had some morals and tried to get her to cooperate but she just had a mouth on her and next thing you know… well there is something in her mouth and things were getting spicy, I mean really they were just living up to the name of the book if you think about it. Like most, if not all of Mila’s books, the spice is dark with lots of breath play, some pet play, and is MMF and comes with all the deliciousness that you can have with that. You’ll never get boring spice with Mila’s books. The story, although dark and twisted, does have a sweet side, or I’ve been reading too many dark romances, but I thought the fact that after everything, Callum still stalks, protects?, Mona, is sweet and shows that he cares… or its not it’s really up to you what you decide. This is the ultimate broken fixing broken book. Only they can really help each other cause they know what they went through and what they need to break up the darkness for a little while. thank you to the author for allowing me to arc read
Another blend of erotic and emotional from the mind of Mila Crawford.
As per usual I LOVED Callum, Atlas, and Mona together. Their interesting power dynamics, their dark past, they way they heal each other while also embracing their darkness. It all just works when Mila does it.
This book is a excellent example of an author showing the reader the things they're passionate about while also daring the reader to face the dark themes associated with dark romance. The effortless blend of of reality and fiction. The sprinkle of Persian identity, politics, and history is weaved so well into the story and helps the characters feel so real and raw. Whole the situation is unique, I think any minority can relate to the concept of that love/hate relationship with your culture.
The spice is that special brand of Mila Crawford spicy fans like me has come to LOVE, but it's also the poetic and emotion packed characterizations and plot points that I eat up every single time. The perfect final installment to this series.
I was so curious about the men who took Mona from Lev, and I’m really glad we finally got their story. Atlas and Callum already had such a deep connection on their own, but somehow Mona fits in so naturally with them. Their bond as a trio just works. It was nice to see that kind of dynamic explored without forcing it.
This book is dark and twisted in a way that only Mila Crawford can pull off. There’s obsession, captivity, and trauma—but also love, redemption, and finding peace in each other. The contrast between the darkness and the healing makes the story stand out.
I love how Mila always manages to write characters with such intense backstories. There’s a lot of emotional depth here, especially around mental health and trauma. It’s not always easy to read, but it’s written with care. If you need warnings, definitely check them—this one goes deep.
Mona is such a strong character. Even when everything is taken from her, she never breaks. And seeing her with Callum and Atlas after all that time apart? Their obsession didn’t fade—it only got more intense. That slow build-up and reunion made everything hit harder.
And wow, the spice. Mila never holds back, but this one? Inferno level. There’s pet play, switch energy, and some scenes that’ll have you pausing to breathe. But under all that, it still feels like a real connection between them. They challenge each other and give just as much as they take.
There were also some nice little cameos from previous books. That always makes a story feel more complete, like you’re stepping back into a world you already know. It’s a short read, but a strong one—and definitely a powerful end to the series.

Callum and Atlas can kidnap me any day! This book is part of the Darkly Ever After series by Mila Crawford and I love all them. Your fmc is smart, kind & very special to Atlas & Callum. Callum sort of kidnapped her to save life & brought her him to his boyfriend Atlas. When Mina leaves both of them, do think they could just let leave? Not exactly they bought the building she in and the security system so they can keep her “safe”. With each of Mila’s books I have learned so much about another culture that I really know about. I love that she’s write from the heart. Now don’t get me wrong I love her spice she’s very creative!
First if all I have to say I loved every single book in this series and this one was no different..
you have callum, atlas and mona in this one.. mona is taken and atlas and callum are given the task of keeping her away from the other men,but I think they get more than they thought they would as omg mona is such a bada$$..she's will not back down and she will give as good as she gets and more.. atlas I felt so much for as you could feel the guilt he was feeling and callum was just a complete psychopath and owned it... I did like how it was in 2 parts the past and then the present (2 yrs later)..
there are some triggers that could affect so if you have any then please read them
As per usual, Mila Crawford delivers an amazing story with an amazing message with a side of absolute unhinged behaviour. I was waiting for Mona’s book and it did not disappoint in the least. It was sooo good. Most of my highlighted and underlined parts are the profound words she used to describe how Mona feels about her mother, Iran and being Iranian. The guilt Mona felt for the way she treated her mother and somewhat turned her back on her culture. Yes there was spice. Yes there were unhinged and deranged MMC’s but the story goes so much deeper. You always come away learning something from a Mila Crawford book.
It felt so bitter sweet reading this, knowing that it’s Milas last (for now) in the darkly ever after universe.
Mona surprised me being so strong. Getting this novella helped to fill in those small gaps answered some questions because even though these are standalones they are interconnected and I’m obsessed
This one is short and sweet and while I wanted MORE more of mona and the boys more everything I loved it all the same she’s such a strong fmc and I’m torn between wanting to be her and wanting to be wanted by her 🫶
The last in the darkly ever after series, and another amazing book by M.Crawford.
Mona is a fierce FMC that absolutely can turn on the dominant fem role like a true queen! Atlas is perfectly obsessed with her and Callum. Callum....my dark little heart BELONGS to the hottest pyschop@th ever.
I devoured this book. Bringing all the feels with the most unhinged spice makes this a 5/5 MUST read.
All the prettiest red flags with a kink/trigger shopping list to make the darkest romance reader swoon 🥵🥵
What a read. From the moment that you start you are going to be taken away to another reality one in which you can leave all your worries and concerns behins. This book is going to grab you and keep you reading until the last page is read. It moves along at a really great pace, has interesting characters and a story that does not disappoint. This is a must read that needs to be on your TBR list. No doubt about it a must read.
Mila did it again! She is good at writing stories that make you feel everything before you’ve finished the book and this story was no different. Mona goes through something and during that time she meets her men. Callum and Atlas are 2 broken men in love and then they fall in love with Mona. The guys have been through nothing but bad their whole lives and they do bad things to survive until Mona, she changes them and they save her. Definitely recommend but MIND YOUR TRIGGERS!
Mona, Callum, and Atlas are calling your name! You won't want to miss this awesome book. The way they are with each other is addictive. The feelings are there. The spice is there. The book is just great! Callum and Atlas know that they are not good guys but they try to be what Mona needs. Mona is strong and will take these men for herself. Their story is so good! Loved it! Read the content first before you dive in. There's a lot that might not be your cup of tea.
OMG this book is beautiful tragic as well has hot. Atlas and Callum broke my heart for the life they had to live. Mona was probably one of the strongest and most headstrong of all of the ladies in this series! This beautiful broken trio had me weeping from my eyes and unapologetically from other places. I do kind of hope we get a book for Ari though!
Mila what can I say!? This book was great! I think Mona is my favorite FMC out of the books (series). This book can be read as a standalone but if I were you I would read them all. They are all amazing. I love how much sass she gives but also the strength she has. I absolutely love the fact that she goes back to her roots as she got older to appreciate the love of her mother and her Persian heritage. Just like her sister and mother she is one bad ass survivor!! Callum, Atlas and Mona are each other’s anchors and help heal each other in their own ways.
Please with any of Mila’s books make sure to read the trigger warnings.
This book is dark, depraved, dirty, and delicious! Once again Mila delivers another amazing book. It's a short read but the storyline and characters are amazing. Spice was just right but check your trigger warnings. I loved that other characters from previous books are in this.
Spice AND a powerful message? I love it. Callum’s mouth is dangerous and oh so delicious. The three of these characters fit so well together, I love that they all give as good as they get. The uh… usage of a wound, quite questionable on that one hahahaha
OKAY Mila!!! Mila writes the best characters with the most traumatic backstories but makes them so relatable to everyone. And also has me questioning my morals but I'm not mad about it lol.
I love Mila's books but this one didn't hit me as a great read as much as her others. The spice wasn't as much as the others and the story line was kind of choppy. It move way to fast and it's a past and present read. Some of the story was irrelevant to the plot. It was a ok book.
DNF… Made it to: 38% 🚨Spoilers🚨 Just sort of droned on from the FMCs POV. The MMCs’ POV was banging! I enjoyed a bunch of other books by Mila Crawford, just couldn’t get into this one. Spice was good, when it showed up.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Mila Crawford is truly the queen of dark and depraved. She absolutely delivers that with Mona, Atlas, and Callum. These three have a screwed up past that make them doubt the future but fate has her way with them in the end.
This book absolutely destroyed me but in the best way. Mila as always killed this book and I love Mona’s story with my whole heart 🖤 bitter sweet ending to one of my favorite series!!
OMG!! Delicious, dark and dirty!!! Are some of the “Ds” I would use to describe this book along with sinful and smexy!! Mona, Atlas and Callum really heat up the pages. Mona goes through something horrible, but she repairs two broken men. Definitely read the TWs!
The next installment of the Darkly Ever After is just as good as the rest of them. This is dark and if you have any triggers be sure to read them before you start.
