"The Lost City of Machu Picchu" is a spectacular creation of informational text for young readers. In a sense, it is a text book for kids. It is engaging and actually teaches content to the readers. I liked the book overall, even though I am not really one for informational text, myself. Literary elements in this book included footnotes, and quiz style readings to test the reader. Design elements included illustrated pictures, but It also incorporated actual photographs. The elements contrast each other as well as compliment each other at the same time.

Machu Picchu is placed up in the Andes mountains of Peru. It’s the story of a place where the ancient and modern world meet. It has a long history and people from all over the world come to see it. When the Inca civilization ended few people knew about Machu Picchu. For a long time it was lost until Hiram Bingham explored it. At first few people visited it but now hundreds of them come. Some people in Peru believe that the tourism will improve things in Peru and its people. And some don’t like the tourism because they think it’s bad for the environment and the place will be like any place in the world. But in reality it helped Peru to be better for example there is a place named Aguas Calientes that is an area where the visitors ride the buses to Macho Picchu and it grew from nothing to a town because of that.
It had many facts, easy words and beautiful pictures. I recommend you to read this book because it has many facts and thoughts.

This book was too hard for me. Not so good. But it was so so.
