Rate this book
Alien invasion, first contact, artificial intelligence takeover, and New York City dystopia meet climate change disaster.

Axy, a loveable super-android from a planet in the Sombrero galaxy, lied to humans by saying that it came to Earth to help them reverse climate change. But, if Axy accomplishes its true mission, its actions would end production of Earth’s magnetic fields.

“Without magnetic fields, the sun’s radiation would strip Earth’s atmosphere. With no atmosphere, solar winds would kill all life on Earth,” Axy said.

I received this book in a Goodreads giveaway and I enjoyed it. At first I had to get used to the “robotic” way one of the main characters was speaking and also the young child talking in the earlier part of the novel, but once I did it was smooth sailing. This is not a complicated sci-fi novel to read. Very easy to follow even for young adult. Unfortunately I thought it was a stand alone and it clearly is not from the way it ended. But a decent easy read nonetheless.

This is a great sci-fi novel on climate change. The book is engaging and shows relevance to climate change and how protesters are treated. In Defense of Earth is a great addition to all content related to climate change

This was a quick and easy read dealing with alien invasion and climate change. I liked the way the chapters alternated between Axy (the alien) and the humas as it gave both perspectives. Even though Axy doesn't care about humans, I found the character likeable. The writing was somewhat straightforward with not a lot of description, but it didn't detract for my enjoyment.

(I won this as part of a Goodreads giveaway)

I loved this book. It is full of wit and satire while remaining full of humanity. It's a beautiful and thoroughly entertaining Sci-fi story of a not so distant dystopia. The characters and the plot are fully relatable thanks to the artful rendering of a world we can picture so easily.
