Gypsy Lovell stands to inherit an enormous amount of money from a father who never gave her anything but a ridiculous name. Even now, he doesn’t make it easy. A stipulation in the man’s will demands that Gypsy be married in order to claim what is hers. Desperate for the monetary windfall that could save her ailing mother’s life, Gypsy visits a Christian dating agency, hoping to find a temporary husband. Someone easy to handle for the required six months, and easy to get rid of when she no longer needs him.
Jal Garridan is neither of those things, but he's willing to take on the challenge presented by the beautiful stranger—on his own terms. What Gypsy doesn’t know is that Solomon’s Gate is a dating agency with a Divine connection. What she finds there may save more than her mother’s life. It may save Gypsy’s soul.
Delia Latham is a born-and-bred California gal, currently living in a small Texas town with her husband Johnny. She’s a Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend—but above all, she treasures her role as princess daughter to the King of Kings. A former newspaper Staff Writer and frequent contributor to her former hometown’s regional publication, Bakersfield Magazine, she has also freelanced projects to a public relations firm and various magazines; has compiled, edited, and designed cover art for various Kindness Incorporated projects; sold greeting card verse; and enjoyed the release of twenty-five novels and novellas. She loves hearing from her readers, so drop in and say hello at any of the venues listed below—you’ll make her day!
Delia Latham has done it again. This third installment in the Solomon's Gate Series lives up to the previous stories. Gypsy's Game was well written and sent me on the highs and lows that I expect from a good book. Both Gypsy and Jal went into the relationship with ulterior motives, but God had bigger plans. Both are fortunate (or would that be unfortunate) enough to encounter Solomon--the bigger than life angel that leads soul-mates together. They find answers to the questions Gypsy has been asking all her life about her father, whose will started her search for a temporary husband.
This is a stand-alone book, but if you have opportunity to read Destiny's Dream and Kylie's Kiss first, I would suggest doing so.
***I received this book free for the purpose of review. The above is my honest opinion.
As always, Ms. Latham pulled me into the lives of her characters. What a thrill to feel and see a heavenly being affiliated with a Christian match-up service. Gypsy's growth throughout the story is believable. At times, Jal seems too good to be true, but readers may need that kind of unconditional love the way Gypsy does.
Solomon’s Gate is an unusual dating agency, one with a divine connection. Gypsy Lovell cares nothing about making a heavenly match, however. She just needs a husband for a few months to ensure her inheritance. Her father’s abandonment taught her that men leave, and she’s not about to risk heartbreak by letting herself fall in love.
But unseen forces seem to be at work. A mysterious man shows up at her interview, ready to become her bridegroom—for life. Gypsy likes the handsome Jal Garrisan far too much for her peace of mind. Can she trust herself to marry, and then leave him?
In Gypsy’s Game, Delia Latham explores the outcome when a flawed-but-likeable woman beset with problems meets a patient man and his loving God. I recommend Gypsy’s Game by Delia Latham for readers who enjoy Christian inspirational romance touched by angel’s wings.
Gypsy’s Game is the third in the ‘Solomon’s Gate’ series by Delia Latham which centers around a Christian matchmaking firm. We are reacquainted with many of the people we’ve come to like from previous books - characters who are strong in their faith, yet realistic and genuine. In this instalment, Gypsy Lovell is looking for a husband in order to fulfill an inheritance stipulation. She is suspicious of men in general due to an unhappy childhood experience. Good looking doctor, Jal Garridan, has his own reasons for agreeing to the marriage – not the least of which is a divine visitation from an angel. This book lives up to the first two in the series in that it is just as delightfully romantic yet also delivers a strong gospel message.
This is the third novel in Delia Latham's Solomon's Gate series in which an angel named Solomon stands ready to assist those involved with the Christian dating service run by Destiny Gallagher. (I reviewed Kylie's Kiss here.) It was nice to "meet" again the characters from the first two books, including Solomon, who makes his presence known enough times to be fun but not turn the book from a romance to a fantasy. And she didn't shy away from showing her readers exactly how to accept God's gift of salvation.
All in all, Gypsy's Game is well written and an enjoyable read, so if you're looking for a romance with a touch the angelic supernatural, this is the novel for you.
