Where this instalment particularly shines is in its exploration of Dave's limitations. For the first time, we see our hero truly challenged not just physically but tactically, forcing him to adapt and evolve in ways that keep the action fresh and unpredictable. The author skilfully uses the cold, calculating world of quantum computing as both literal and metaphorical challenges for our warm-blooded protagonist to overcome.
